It's amazing what a Google search will turn up from the archives! My sister (Betty's niece) did a Google search and found this video that none of us knew existed. It's been fun to watch to get a glimpse of where she worked for 25 yrs & the fun that she had. Great job with the video!
I loved Betty and will always remember her! She will always be one of the most positive influences on my life.
I actually first knew her starting from when I was in the 8th grade and first visited the library and my admiration continued through the early 1990's when I was in graduate school and also teaching high school. She actually hired me back in the summers!
I will never forget this kind, humorous, generous, thoughtful, and amazing lady!
Thank you for posting this video! Betty Glover was my aunt (my mom's older sister) and I miss her very much! A girlfriend and I drove from Florida to Arizona in 1992 to see her and had a blast...she definitely was one of a kind!
I take it you were a film student? This is very, VERY well done. Funny in its own right, not even taking into account the "haha, computers used to look like that" factor.
This is one of my favorite videos of all time! Thank you so much for making it. Seriously, it being dated is NOT a bad thing! People don't always realize that dated doesn't have to be bad.
It seems like your library had the largest amount of employees ever!
P.s. I've edited linear and it's not the easiest.
People keep commenting "how much things change in 20 years"... I can confirm the Hayden Library is not one of those things. Minute slightly more modern computers, and a nipple-like addition, it looks EXACTLY the same. I recognized it from a still shot of a bookcase.
That was an awesome excercise video! Some of us are just too fat to do this, but definitely a good workout. I will write about at tincap . To visit it just go on google and search for "tincap".
I was 21 when this was made, and I also was into computers since I was 10. There had been few advances from 1976 technology and that the of computers shown here. These were just "dumb terminals" tied to a mainframe. Early GUI's were available (both Mac and Windows), but they were not used here. The COMputer CATalog (SPIN) featured microfische of mainframe printouts of collections catalogged on old mainframes.
Too funny-I loved stereotype librarian Betty, the really bad '80s music that I remember and didn't think was that old or bad, and the satire of the annoying TV commercials. Great job! Thanks for the chuckle.
LOVE IT! Please see Bay County Public Library Welcomes Tony Simmons to see how far we have come? Can't wait to show this at work Tues! I work 'upstairs' in Technical Services 'where the food is'. We'll have a great time with this. Thank you so much for posting your short!
Love it!! Betty Glover, you rock! This has got to be in the top five YouTubes of all time. It's making the rounds here at the Pollak Library at Cal State Fullerton...JUMP!

Of course it's changed. I didn't see a single freshman in a tube top in that video or a throng of sleepers in the second floor reading area!

old fashioned those computers look.

It took html to push things to the present.
