to many goalies now and days are winning over 30 games even 40 roys record will be beaten many times but that still doesnt mean he isnt the best ever cause he is.
@bryz2034 Sawchuk had Gordie Howe, Alex Delveccio, Ted Lindsay, Sid Abel. You can't say that sawchuck didn't have a good team in front of him. Roy did have talent in front of him. But remember all the stanley cups, or even the playoff appearances the Nordiques made before they moved to colorado and got Roy? I do...there isn't much to remember. they made it in '94. that was it...
he let in 6 and wanted to be pulled but the coach wouldnt do it so he didnt care how many more goals the other team scored. he finally got pulled and he told the coach it was his last game with the habs.
@fflamingmoe wow...where are you getting 25 seasons from? 1986-2003 wasn't 25 years or 23. it's 17 seasons for roy.
And yes the Bison's must have been an NHL team. I bet Terry never EVER played minor league.
Also...that 12 goal game...did you see any D?
I'm not saying that roy is better than sawchuck. We can't tell cause they never played each other. but I think you're downplaying Patrick a little bit too much.
best goaltender ever ? hahaha.How many games did he play to beat that record?Terry's years were short lived.And no mask i still wonder who the best really is.TERRY
@fflamingmoe yes but remember one thing , the era of patrick roy is much closer of today then the past ....Patrick roy was playing agains better talents then terry and also Patrick Roy have started or created the BUTTERFLY STYLE, patrick roy as been like mario lemieux and wayne gretsky in NET ....now 80 % or more are butterfly goaltenter , HERITAGE OF PATRICK ROY .
@akapp That's not true at all. The hardest slap shot back in Terry's day,still isn't broken. 118 mp. And Terry played less games then Roy. And what about the goalie equipment? smaller and heavy pads,small glove,and Terry didn't have much protection. And felt every shot that he faced,black and blue. And stand up golies still hold true to the best there is in the NHL. And Tim Thomas at the age of 30,people telling him he might be too old? holds the NHL's best goals against,2010,2011
@fflamingmoe Terry did wear a mask, nothing like today's though. But I agree with you that his career was short lived and goaltending back then was painful to say the least. That being said, Roy is still my fave, since i was a kid watching him in the 80's.

LOL at people saying goalies in the stone age were better then todays goalies
savic11 1 year ago
@savic11 Roy could probably put the pads on today and he'd still be better then most goalies in the league.

@tjackson76 I was ralking about Sawchuck and Broda and those guys. Roy no doubt one of the best ever and could def play in this era
savic11 1 year ago
Roy always had the best teams infront of him, no doubt hes a good goalie but that helps alot.. I think sawchuk was better, he was alot tougher to.
