  • Was just reading on Wikipedia that this Monty Python sketch is where they got their name from.. watch?v=IVxUPnhLg-U .. it's in the first 30 seconds.

  • Yeah the 90's sure were great especially the music. I have not really liked any music produced after 1999 with the expection of some hip hop and I really don't listen to that like I did in my teens and early twenties....A lot of songs in the 90's were kinda deep

  • long live the 90's!

  • Awesome video by an Awesome band! Toad the Wet Sprocket are from my Hometown of Santa Barbara, and went to my High School, San Marcos High! They make me proud to be from Santa Barbara! ROCK ON!!!

  • BUENA BANDA

  • anyone like the sleepy jacksons basically there a 90s aussie band and kick ass

  • Toad Rule's great jam's great lyric's ....

  • 209

  • @rudenoodle 420

  • Miss the 90s

  • Saw them last night at the Lowell Summer music series outdoors. Meet and greet after the show was awesome. What a great bunch of extremely talented guys, very approachable and genuine . Show was great, despite a few sprinkles.

  • I'm ashamed to admit that I had forgotten about this song until my girlfriend decided to watch 'My So-Called Life" on Netflix. They played it during a house party scene and I was all "HolycrapthissongisawesomeIcan'tbelieveIforgotaboutit!"

Sadly, this is a true story.

  • Very cool tune.

  • high school days!

  • @kentboytech rite on..

  • Glad I saw this video. I always thought this song was by Gin Blossoms another equally amazing band, but at least I know now.

  • @hitthecouch Yeah I always knew who sang this but I can see how you would think it was the Gin Blossoms. Both bands are great. What I like about both bands are the fact there songs are all guitar. These bands are pop rock I think they are more rock but that's what they are catagorized as.Todays pop music has so much bullshit in their music sythesizers and drum machines we need more of this kind of music

  • Good god music sucks now. I am too old. I now have ETTS Syndrome, Everything Turns to Shit.

  • is the drummer a midget? no pun seriously.

  • @iwpreyg1001 he has brittle bone disease which makes him smaller because his bones are deformed and he has poor muscle tone in his arms/legs as well as other complications...despite all this he's a tight drummer..

  • @JP2641 agreed. i noticed he is still involved with the band to this date, cheers.

  • this song is epic.

  • @NisseDeppster My total fave by them :) Cant believe I had never seen the video in all these years? Perfect mood/scenario for the lyrics!

  • Perfect Skydiving tune! ;)

  • @redneck500 Yeah, I know. This was part of the soundtrack to a Hollywood Motion Picture movie with a skydiving theme, I can't seem to remember exactly which one. "Cutaway", "Drop Zone", "Terminal Velocity", "Point Break" or maybe another one?

  • love this song! 90's Rock

  • 2:08 That's what a solo is meant to be. Love it.

  • this is probably my second all time favorite band (behind Depeche Mode)

i have everything by Toad and not any of it is bad

  • If y'all want MTV to become cool again, then stop watching the channel completely. They will wise up real quick.

  • They don't make them like this anymore. I'm a rocker since 1965.....

  • @mddg1515 I love you

  • when I listening those songs... more than ever i wish a time machine.. the nineties are one of the best decades musically talking

  • Nice job FARTMAN!!!

  • Hi, regardless hate or love, E. Magana a public-social-walker in bar! got salute that social-queen, public-servant E.Magna who naturally always contribute everything E.Magna's ever got to her society selfishlessly! thanks E.Magna.

  • MTV.. circa 1983 or so.. the days of Nina Blackwood and Martha Quin.. yeah, that was the real MTV. You could turn it on and just let it run like a radio station, hearing all the hits and seeing videos that actually used some creative brian power to produce. Now days MTV is more like a wind sock at the airport on a calm day.. limp.. very limp. That's what happens when you let marketing people run something that was built by artists. Like giving a classic car to a 16-year-old. They trash it.

  • MTV.. Music Television?.. Its like if 'Toys R Us' only sold bags of shit.

  • We need our alternative rock BACK!!!!!! please music producers DO something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Heard this on Sirius/XM Lithum tonight, first time in YEARS! Such a great song, band. PS: The top comments could not be more correct! Miss the days when it was MUSIC Television..can't believe the BS they have on that channel now.

  • Great song, by a great band. Brings back lots of memories.

  • ^_^

  • The old man dancing was in a lot of videos at this time. The only one coming to mind right now is Hole's song Violet. I think he was on Conan a lot too.

  • fuck mtv

  • The internet seems to be taking up the slack. I love you-tube. At age 58, I would argue that the last 15 years has produced some of the best rock and roll ever!

  • @columnwriter25 the last 15 years? Hmmmm name some of those "rock bands."

The last 15 years produced some of the worst rock music ever. All the radio stations in south florida removed their "new rock" stations and replaced them with easy listening stuff. THe reason why this happened? Every corporate radio rock band sounded the same..... everyone had a crappy godsmack, metallica sound. It was fcking terrible.

  • @hospitalbedpan1 fuckin a. i hit the turnpike outta palm beach and it seemed like the music died when i left. wtf happened? its up to us old farts to bring it back to life. these kids wouldnt know what good music was if we taped it to a brick and hit them in the face with it

  • 90s!!!!!!

  • Ya i cant believe how terrible mtv got what happened to playing music videos instead of these garbage reality shows!!!!!

  • Haha Was watching "My So-called Life" and heard this, and I'm like "DAMN!!! I haven't heard this in FOREVER!!!" *sigh*

    God Bless ~Amy

  • @thewordthatpierces When Does My So Called Life come on? Or do you just have the box set? Either way good show.

  • @PJHunterTJ Well, I don't have the box set (though I would like to get it), I recently re-watched the series on Netflix, they have it on instant watch. Though it used to run on "The N" for a while (I think that station is defunct now), back in like 2005, which was where I first saw it. :) But yeah, if you have Netflix its on Instant Watch. :D:D:D

    God Bless ~Amy

  • Thanks for posting this, memories

  • Back in the good old days when MTV played music videos. It's a shame an alternative to MTV hasn't appeared.

  • @dillonzo88 It's a shame we haven't had an alternative to the 90's. Now the music that comes out is just as crappy as the new MTV that promotes them. There are very few new artists that deserve any sort of credit, IMO.

  • @dillonzo88 There is an alternative; its called the internet. ;P

  • Anybody know what Glen is speaking of???

  • i have looked for this song for years ever since i saw drop zone

  • remote control was awesome, as a kid i used to think they were really hacking people up as their chairs took them backstage

  • that crazy girl is kinda hot

  • I remember the "My So-Called Life" episode that featured this song....

  • @jumplittlelisa YES! :)

  • MTV = Music Television.

    Should now be called STV.

Even though I liked the game shows of the 90's, like Remote Control, I didn't realize that was the beginning of the end. Fock MTV and it's collagen lips.

  • everyones complaining about mtv, just make a youtube playlist or something... it's better... all mtv was and is is commercials. we have the internet for music, why are you even paying for cable?

  • put more MTV videos archive on youtube!

  • In my opinion Toad The Wet Sprocket was one of the most underrated bands of the 1990's. They often fell under the shadows of R.E.M. and other bands that were actually considered part of the college rock underground of the 19980's.

  • DROP ZONE!

  • Yeah MTV, why don't you play decent videos anymore? evrything is all about REALITY and NO good videos. Theres nothing like the 80's and 90's when MTV actually played MUSIC.

  • @malilval You said it! I use to like to watch MTV (and VH1), back in the day.

  • @malilval...'cause videos don't hold the lure that they once did...it was cutting edge back in the 80's but today...Labels chew up and spit out bands like a factory...

if MTV still relied on videos, they would be GONE...I completely agree about WTF happened to videos, however comma

  • @SolarTiger actually, the 90s spit out artists too. hello, we're still dealing with the britney situation

  • @esprit15d yeah, but Britney was later in the 90s, things started changing for the worse around 98 or 99...

  • great song but dose some of the guitar riffs remind any one else of the gin blossoms' song "found out about you"?

  • Ahhhhhhh, the golden age of Alternative... :)

I always wondered what the girl in black's deal was....

  • @Jadensamma i am that girl they told me what to do!! i had to cry for an hour ! then they said , breaking for dinner ,will pick it up then , sorry !!aaghhh

  • @Jadensamma this video is a --remake'' of jane fonda's ''they shoot horse's dont they '' its a movie about the great depression , when they had those dance athons , the people danced until they dropped , for a prize everyone was so poor and hungry , they went kind of crazy , that was my job!! i am the gilr in black !!

i got 800 to d it ,that was a big deal then !!!

  • @mightyfanny

I knew about the overall "theme" of the video. I remembered watching a movie about the Depression's dance-a-thons. :)

Really? Dude, if it's true you're the girl in black, you got MY attention. :P Good show! :D Of course, you'll have to understand if I'm a bit skeptical. :)

  • @mightyfanny You did a great job playing the girl in black.

  • @videogirl126 why thank you !! it was a bit tiring having to cry for an hour , i thought about my cat that was like a dog ,best cat ever he died young ,yes that was the motivation !!!! the worst head ache after though !!! i did about 50 vids , you can see the ones up loaded , i did keith richards ''wicked as it seems'' and everytime you touch me'' for moby , and melissa ehtridge's my little secret '' they picked me to start off the vid ,its pretty cool !! thank you :):):)

  • @MylesM316 Craig Ferguson has an interesting theory about this...look up "Craig Ferguson what's wrong with the world" on YT.

  • Love it have not seen this in years.MTV sucks ass snooki WTF reality shows are for people with no lives of there own.

  • @kurtace244 absolutely AGREE!!!!!

  • MTV only plays music for kids

  • 1994!!!!!!!!

    Wew!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seriosly, what ever happened to this band? This was a pretty big hit. I remember watching this video over and over on MTV. They, of course, had their smash hit - "Walk on the Ocean". But, after this... there was nothing.

  • @justbuch1 "TOURING" Got to check out there Site!

  • I always think of that episode of My so-called life whenever I hear this song.

  • Wow! I turned 28 today and this really brings me back!

  • @SaraNerys Happy late birthday :)

  • happy b day ... yea me 2 im 27 reminds me of being on the bus when iw as little... well at least toad and 90s music in general.

  • @SaraNerys Since to my also it brings me behind when estava in the college. And the truth in this time not wise neither the name of the song nor the group that it touches jejeje regards!!!

  • reminds me of the summer of 1995! i miss the innocence of my youth!

  • did anyone know the bass player is Jerry Springers brother. no bullshit

  • Really?

  • hearing this makes me feel 12 again. it's great!

  • una de las mejores canciones de los 90s.......i love it

  • Wasn't this in the soundtrack of "Drop Zone"??

  • You mean the same Drop Zone that stars Wesley "always bet on black" Snipes? If so, than I think yes.

  • When I first heard this on the radio, I thought it was Gin Blossoms. Sounds A LOT like something they would make.

  • @DIMMUSAKURABA are they both the same style of bands ??? what music genra are they do you know ?

  • just look up the song "found out about you" by gin blossoms and you should hear similiarities.

  • Personally, I think this is R.E.M style. But it does rock and I liked Toad back the day.

  • It's unbelievable how much I loved this song.

  • There was a period from 1993 to early 95 where I liked almost everything that was coming out in alternative rock, both million sellers and the lesser known bands. Great period of music...

  • I agree with you and mrsfox77, a great period in american music! Nothing now compares to this time...

  • Agreed!

  • @John6yt I can relate, seatlle stuff: screaming trees, pj, nirvana, etc. ned's atomic dustbin, inspiral carpets, kings X, the list goes on and on, :)

  • Sometimes, when I listen to 90's music I get butterflies in my stomach and remember so many good times... I even feel like crying cause those moments won't come back... and there is no music nowadays that causes the same effect on me :-(

  • @mrsfox77

Couldn't have said it better. this song and the fly's "got you where I want you " drag those feelsing out of me.

  • god i miss the 90's. music is not the same....

  • I agree; it is not.

  • I miss the 90's too!!!

  • GREAT FUCKIN TUNE!!!!  A++++++++

  • CLASSIC !!!

  • I remember looking for this album in stores across Delhi after seeing this video on Channel V. But no luck. Wish we had torrents back then, or even Napster! Thanks for the upload!

  • It's too freaking bad, and sad, that rock (and videos, I guess) faded after the Golden Age Of Alternative Rock. These were some awesome years for Rock and Roll.

  • I agree 100 percent

  • Love the lyrics to this song..it's the story of my life

  • This is when MTV actually played music videos...now its just complete shit

  • For real. MTV turned to crap.

  • @Jannradio I think the "M" now stands for "miscellaneous".

  • @Jannradio the entire music industry turned to crap

  • @buttlord123 totally fucking agree

  • @buttlord123 yesssssss...i remember these golden years in 1994...here in peru, africa, tibet..everywehere!!..now MTV sucks..hate stupid realities and all that bullshit!..regueton hip hop...is the end of the world pal!

  • @buttlord123 Actually we had a hell of a time watching music videos when this came out. One they started airing that show Remote Control back in the 80s, it was all over.

  • @buttlord123 You're close. But I would go so far as to say it is shallow, banal, utter, complete shit!! We need a new Headbangers Ball!!

  • @wslydaniels Most def need a new Headbangers ball!

  • @buttlord123 i remember it well.fall of '97 they just quit playing videos.never understood why.like their "shows"are any good.

  • @johnbrown53160 Vouch

  • The fuckin 90s ruled. MTV played MUSIC. Bands didn't SUCK. And people weren't as fat as they are today.

  • I agree with you 100 percent. I use to watch MTV and VH1, back when they played GOOD music videos.

  • Rolling Stones/Counting Crows was the first concert I ever went to. This was my second. : ) I was like 14 then. I'm starting to feel kind of old, lol.

  • Aren't these guys out of AZ? The 1st time I heard them was on a radio station out of Salt Lake when I lived out that way back in the early 90's....I was impressed to say the least! They got their own TONE and that is not something today's bands can do anymore!

They kinda remind me of The Gin Blossoms....Another damn good band!

  • great band, but they broke up years ago.

  • Not true.

They might not be making new music at the moment but I just saw them a few months ago. They still tour from time to time.

Glen is in a new band called Works Progress Administration

  • God i remember that song i was 12 years old and we just missed Kurt Cobain but they were bands like this and kick ass songs like Fall Down.

    I miss the 90s!!

  • i know right? i miss the 90's too. there were more original songs back then. every song i hear on the radio now is so interchangable... they all sound exactly the same, i hate it. thank gof for sirius radio 90's channel, it's all i listen to. I'd take a 90's garage band any day over this generations whiney emo crap. i miss nick toons, pete and pete, polaris, pavement... etc.

  • glen phillip's and Toad.......oh, yes.........

  • God I miss the 90's...who the hell ever thought they'd be saying that? lol, but it's true.

  • Everyone thinks the 80's were better.. but man, at least in the 90's the rockers didn't have long curly hair, more makeup than my mom and wear pink spandex. =/

  • i dont know anyone who think the 80s are better music wise

  • this song totally rules!!!, and for some reason when i saw the video today,it made me think about a girl i knew,it's so weird but i hear the lyrics and i feel like dam they talking about her. She's to young to know about this group or song, but that's the things of life...

  • the drummer randy guss is not a dwarf.....hahah...but, it kinda looks like that here............

  • Those types of last-people-standing dance marathons were really big in the 1930's. Dancers used to be having heart attacks and everything. They'd probably never be allowed today.

  • they still have them, but they don't have old people amongst them =D

  • im not being horrible or anything but is the drummer a dwarf?

  • Ahh yes a trp down memory lane for me

    great group

  • i adore this song

  • BEST BAND EVERRRR

    ROCK ON TOAD

  • This is such a catchy song :)

  • Yes it is. My Aunt and Cousin know this song, too; my cousin goes around, singing the chorus.

  • All I can say is that this song has always been a rock n roll song to me. Like I wish I could still find new rock n roll songs on the radio. But I can't. So I listen to Toad. Cos' they play rock n roll songs.

    Like this one.

  • I know what you mean. I listen to Toad, because they rock; and so does this song.

  • These guys got some great songs.

  • i heard this tune first on a wesley snipes movie....this was the song that played when ppl was having parachute training in one of that machines that simulate the falling of the jumpers...never erased that of my mind...

anybody knows the name of that movie??

  • Drop Zone.

  • Darn computer speakers not loud enough!

  • almost 5k views lol

  • lol wow i remember the mtv beach house

  • great song for sure

  • hell of a song

  • I love this video; thank you for uploading it :)

  • i`ve been looking for this video since 1996, thanks a lot!!!

  • absolutely 5 stars...merry christmas!

  • Nice video--seems inspired by the movie They Shoot Horses don't they?, which is about dance marathons and desparation. Just wish the band was a little more glammed up, but this was made during the height of the grunge era. One of my favorite songs of the 90's.

  • i love this song!

  • This video is really cool....
