MTV.. circa 1983 or so.. the days of Nina Blackwood and Martha Quin.. yeah, that was the real MTV. You could turn it on and just let it run like a radio station, hearing all the hits and seeing videos that actually used some creative brian power to produce. Now days MTV is more like a wind sock at the airport on a calm day.. limp.. very limp. That's what happens when you let marketing people run something that was built by artists. Like giving a classic car to a 16-year-old. They trash it.
Heard this on Sirius/XM Lithum tonight, first time in YEARS! Such a great song, band. PS: The top comments could not be more correct! Miss the days when it was MUSIC Television..can't believe the BS they have on that channel now.
The old man dancing was in a lot of videos at this time. The only one coming to mind right now is Hole's song Violet. I think he was on Conan a lot too.

@columnwriter25 the last 15 years? Hmmmm name some of those "rock bands."
The last 15 years produced some of the worst rock music ever. All the radio stations in south florida removed their "new rock" stations and replaced them with easy listening stuff. THe reason why this happened? Every corporate radio rock band sounded the same..... everyone had a crappy godsmack, metallica sound. It was fcking terrible.
@hospitalbedpan1 fuckin a. i hit the turnpike outta palm beach and it seemed like the music died when i left. wtf happened? its up to us old farts to bring it back to life. these kids wouldnt know what good music was if we taped it to a brick and hit them in the face with it
@PJHunterTJ Well, I don't have the box set (though I would like to get it), I recently re-watched the series on Netflix, they have it on instant watch. @dillonzo88 It's a shame we haven't had an alternative to the 90's. Now the music that comes out is just as crappy as the new MTV that promotes them. There are very few new artists that deserve any sort of credit, IMO.

There was a period from 1993 to early 95 where I liked almost everything that was coming out in alternative rock, both million sellers and the lesser known bands. Great period of music...
Sometimes, when I listen to 90's music I get butterflies in my stomach and remember so many good times... I even feel like crying cause those moments won't come back... and there is no music nowadays that causes the same effect on me :-(
I remember looking for this album in stores across Delhi after seeing this video on Channel V. But no luck. Wish we had torrents back then, or even Napster! Thanks for the upload!
It's too freaking bad, and sad, that rock (and videos, I guess) faded after the Golden Age Of Alternative Rock. These were some awesome years for Rock and Roll.
@buttlord123 yesssssss...i remember these golden years in 1994...here in peru, africa, tibet..everywehere!!..now MTV sucks..hate stupid realities and all that bullshit!..regueton hip hop...is the end of the world pal!
@buttlord123 Actually we had a hell of a time watching music videos when this came out. One they started airing that show Remote Control back in the 80s, it was all over.
Aren't these guys out of AZ? The 1st time I heard them was on a radio station out of Salt Lake when I lived out that way back in the early 90's....I was impressed to say the least! They got their own TONE and that is not something today's bands can do anymore!
They kinda remind me of The Gin Blossoms....Another damn good band!
i know right? i miss the 90's too. there were more original songs back then. every song i hear on the radio now is so interchangable... they all sound exactly the same, i hate it. thank gof for sirius radio 90's channel, it's all i listen to. I'd take a 90's garage band any day over this generations whiney emo crap. i miss nick toons, pete and pete, polaris, pavement... etc.
Everyone thinks the 80's were better.. but man, at least in the 90's the rockers didn't have long curly hair, more makeup than my mom and wear pink spandex. =/
this song totally rules!!!, and for some reason when i saw the video today,it made me think about a girl i knew,it's so weird but i hear the lyrics and i feel like dam they talking about her. She's to young to know about this group or song, but that's the things of life...
Those types of last-people-standing dance marathons were really big in the 1930's. Dancers used to be having heart attacks and everything. They'd probably never be allowed today.
All I can say is that this song has always been a rock n roll song to me. Like I wish I could still find new rock n roll songs on the radio. But I can't. So I listen to Toad. Cos' they play rock n roll songs.
i heard this tune first on a wesley snipes movie....this was the song that played when ppl was having parachute training in one of that machines that simulate the falling of the jumpers...never erased that of my mind...
Nice video--seems inspired by the movie They Shoot Horses don't they?, which is about dance marathons and desparation. Just wish the band was a little more glammed up, but this was made during the height of the grunge era. One of my favorite songs of the 90's.
Was just reading on Wikipedia that this Monty Python sketch is where they got their name from.. watch?v=IVxUPnhLg-U .. it's in the first 30 seconds.

The fuckin 90s ruled. MTV played MUSIC. Bands didn't SUCK. And people weren't as fat as they are today.

I agree with you 100 percent. I use to watch MTV and VH1, back when they played GOOD music videos.

Aren't these guys out of AZ? The 1st time I heard them was on a radio station out of Salt Lake when I lived out that way back in the early 90's....I was impressed to say the least! They got their own TONE and that is not something today's bands can do anymore!
They kinda remind me of The Gin Blossoms....Another damn good band!

great band, but they broke up years ago.

Not true.
They might not be making new music at the moment but I just saw them a few months ago. They still tour from time to time.
Glen is in a new band called Works Progress Administration

God i remember that song i was 12 years old and we just missed Kurt Cobain but they were bands like this and kick ass songs like Fall Down.
I miss the 90s!!

i know right? i miss the 90's too. there were more original songs back then. every song i hear on the radio now is so interchangable... they all sound exactly the same, i hate it. thank gof for sirius radio 90's channel, it's all i listen to.

i dont know anyone who think the 80s are better music wise

Those types of last-people-standing dance marathons were really big in the 1930's. Dancers used to be having heart attacks and everything. They'd probably never be allowed today.

they still have them, but they don't have old people amongst them =D

Yes it is. My Aunt and Cousin know this song, too; my cousin goes around, singing the chorus.

All I can say is that this song has always been a rock n roll song to me. Like I wish I could still find new rock n roll songs on the radio. But I can't. So I listen to Toad. Cos' they play rock n roll songs.
Like this one.

I know what you mean. I listen to Toad, because they rock; and so does this song.

Nice video--seems inspired by the movie They Shoot Horses don't they?, which is about dance marathons and desparation. Just wish the band was a little more glammed up, but this was made during the height of the grunge era. One of my favorite songs of the 90's.
