The problem with Australia is the Australians ( not the aboriginals), mostly of european origin, with their ignorance & hatered of wild predateurs.......having eliminated wolves from most of europe, came to Australia with the same attitude & decimated the thylacine & have been trying for a century to render the dingo extinct just to protect their mangy sheep, which disease, accidents & domestic dogs kill far more than dingos ever did, it's just an excuse to let drunken halfwits have their fun.
Thankyou for your vid...it's the kind of insanity Aussies in general seem to want to ignore.....dingos being exterminated because of ignorance...and it's the kind of ignorance that's cultivated rather than simply not through lack of intelligence. Yes. Crossbreeding is a problem. But claiming that's the ONLY problem is silly.
shit does rhat really happens in our times i tought that australians learnd their lession from Thylacine but now they are doing same with the dingos i'm a huge fan of the dingos this must be stopped at any costs.
Dingos kill domestic dogs, not co-habit with them. There is some crossbreeding but there is a big difference between a dingo and a wild dog. A difference most people choose to ignore.
Great video. Way to go. I had a eighty percent dingo for a friend. He was an amazing dog. I did not know this kind of extermination program was going on in Australia. Why? I hope people come to their senses, its an amazing dog.
The difference between WILD DINGO and wild dolphins is that dolphins aren't hazardous to people on LAND or even fisherman out at the sea. They are harmless creatures that lead their own lives.
However, Dingos attack pedestrians and domstic animals, and are highly violent toward humans.
Exterminating economic and health hazaroud animals, compared to eating unnecessary nutrients of harmless, magnificent and intelligent animals are completely different.
This video is not made as an awareness to Dingos sufferage. This video was made to justify killing of dolphins, of which there are none.
What a bunch of hypocritical barbaric little dicked fucks. Japs will always be a bunch of ugly violent midgets living on a volcanic dick shaped island that are always mad because of their undersized penis.
And when that crappy little island sinks, nobody will be there to house them. And they will all die. I look forward to that day.
FanaticalDrone. You're a fucking moron. Do some research. There have been less than a handfull of attacks on humans in over 200 years, only one of them fatal. yet every year in Australia there are 15,000 attacks by domastic Dogs, DOZENS of them fatal. Your other comments demonstrate that you have no grasp of reality and are as fucked in the head as you sound. You should be 'Exterminated' and to quote Lily Alen, "FUCK YOU!!"
This is truly sad! the same thing happened in America during frontier times. The government, in an attempt to abolish the Indians, drove bison to extinction, wolves as well. What a sad atrocity, that humans, of such intelligence, have so little compassion for life other than their own.... SICKENING!! Could these dingoes not be widly captured, sterilized and released to control populations? Cheaper than $50/head!!!
Why the hell would any government agency or any landholder pay that seeing the amount of labour intensity and cost compared to a $3 1080 bait or a $1 dollar bullet! The technique may control the population though it would not solve the problem of dingoes/wild dogs attacking livestock!
never knew they did that, but thats what they did to all the wolves that used to live around here (im not australian) but thats just so wrong, i bet the dingos where there before any humans where. everything has a right to live.
I wish I could have a Dingo.... I don´t live in Australia, but been able to watch them on TV. I admire those dogs. Remeber extintion is for ever. Once wiped out completely, you'll understand the importance of Dingos to your ecosystem. Would rat population grow up?. Would rabits'?,,, you just don't know, so let nature take its natural course.
thats not RIGHT! i dislike who ever who does that! ask ur self the question...why? who would want to, stand up stop the violence.they were here first? now why should they have 2 leave?
I had a friend whose dog was part (not even half, but I believe a quarter?) dingo; she was the smartest, fastest, and sweetest dog you could ever meet (not sure what else was in her though; her fur was darker than a dingo's but she had the same ears and fairly similar body type with few noticeable variations (slightly bigger muscles, ect).
Whether or not 5000 years constitutes "native" is irrelivent.Exluding man, when white man arrived in Australia, the dingo was the top predator and as such probably the most important link in the ecosystem chain.
Just as is starting to be seen in Yellowstone keeping the numbers of larger herbavores in check helps maintain the biodiversity of plants and aniamls. Its also becoming apparent that dingoes keep fox, cat and rabbit numbers in check, benefiting smaller endangered marsupials.
I agree they do have a major ecological benefit and should not be totally removed from the population but efforts do need to be made to stop livestock predation and programs such as bounties and 1080 baiting does just that.
actually killing pure dingoes only makes the problem worse. Dingoes have their own territory which they will defend from other canines. By removing dingoes you allow the feral dogs (re domestic dogs gone wild) and dingo/feral dog hybrids to get a foothold. Dingoes will only breed once a yeaar where as domestic dogs will breed three time every two years and sometimes twice a year. This leads to vast increases in population.
@Gaschy It's good you think the dingo shouldn't be totally removed, but anyone who thinks that the amount of livestock lost to the dingo warrants laying poison everywhere is a worse than a retard. Your comments are those of an arrogant hare-brained retard.
I thought dingos were another breed of dogs. in fact i think a lot of peple assume they are and some tv shows say they are another dog breed... just wild. are they considered a whole different species?
Continuing...There are NO native placental Australian mammals. They have been around for a long time and the law classes them as native to all intents and purposes but they are introduced just as much as rabbits are because by natural means they would never have got there. And incidentally, 5000 yrs ago is NOT before religion, just before Christianity. I won't be posting about this again, especially to reply to someone who can't even spell the name of the species they're so fond of (canis LUPUS)
Why would the governement sponser termination of a native and endangered animal? I thought Australia was a modern nation. Then again, I guess it's just the same thing that happened to the gray wolves in North America 70 years ago :(
people are so ignorant. So detached from their own environment.
Dingos aren't native to Australia. No placental mammals are, except maybe bats that flew in. Dingos were introduced by the very first indigenous Australian settlers such a long time ago that they became wild again, long before Europeans arrived. I don't believe that it's right to exterminate such beautiful dogs though. I'd love to have one as a pet if they weren't so unsuitable, they're just beautiful.
StolenkissGerbils - First Dingoes are not dogs, just as Zebras are not Horses..Dingoes ARE a Native Australian animal by all ecological and legal definitions. Any Animal exsisting in Australia before 1400AD is legally classed as NATIVE. Dingoes have been on the continent for well over 5000 years. Before the Pyramids were built. Before written language, Before Religion. I think they qualify..
Fine, if you want to restrict the term "dog" to mean housepets, then we will call them "canids". They are dogs just as much as wolves are dogs, coyotes, foxes, african hunting dogs. They ARE of the dog family. And indeed some people do class them as canis familaris dingo so I think you need to calm down. But in the strictest sense of the term they are an introduced species. cotd next post

1) The poison is used to kill wild dogs, who in turn kill native wildlife.

Logicbeatslies obviously you care about the environment but you are VERY msisinformed on the Dingo. Dingoes are only offered limited protection in the NT and on Frazer Island the mismanagement of the QPWS is steadily starving most of them to death and shooting the rest. In WA the policy is that Dingoes no not exist full stop and all 'wild dogs' should be killed. Bounties are offered on Dingoes in NSW and VIC.(protection my ass)
1. It's Fraser Island... Not Frazer... (I have spent considerable time there)
2. QPWS are not "starving" them to death and shooting the rest.
There have been several attacks in recent years due to overpopulation and retard tourist feeding them creating an un natural balance. A young boy was killed a few years ago and I have even been surrounded by them one night.
QPWS is really making an effort to conserve the purity of the dingo on Fraser. Said to be the purest gene pool in the world.
2.QPWS starving Dingoes. Yes they are. There is little food sources for them left on the island. Dingoes would live side by side with the Aboriginals hunting for themselves and leftovers from the camps. Tourists have completely taken over the island leaving no hunting areas for the Dingo. Crows have invaded the Island competing for food..
Cadrat2006. QPWS have a zero tolerance policy on Dingo human interaction. Dingoes can and have been shot for curiously walking into an open cabin looking for food. Attacks are EXTREMELY RARE and most'attacks'are from human habituated juvenile dingoes attempting to play. ONE DEATH in 200 years on fraSer Island of a child who was teasing a nursing mother. Asking for trouble there! Do that in Africa with a Lioness what would happen?!STUPID PEOPLE NEAR WILD ANIMALS. Blame the parents. NOT the Dingo!
logicbeasties. 1080 poison does not discriminate between Pure and Non-Pure Dingoes. Stupid statement!!The Dingo fence is a huge waste of Taxpayers monie and a Dingo wif willing could jump over it in many places. Where it does work there is a barren wasteland over run by rabbits, cats and foxes and sheep. on the dingo side there is a balance in the ecology..as it has been for thousands of years.
You have no idea about the Dingo fence retard I know first hand that when well maintained it prevents a lot of problems for sheep and cattle graziers. Yeh a dingo could maybe jump it if it was presured to otherwise they will quite happily stroll along the fence.
Logicbeatslies. You ARE watching the genocide of a native Australian species through Government sponsorship. By all means save the whale I agree, but look in your own backyard while you are at it. If the Dingo were the size of a Lion or a Bear they would have been protected years ago..
Logicbeatslies: The destruction of native fauna is not because of the Dingo. It is beacuse of the imballance created by man due to the introduction of the sheep, goat, cattle, the fox and the cat and the killing of the top predator in Australia. The Dingo was here for thousands of years and the Fauna did pretty well until this. Not very LOGICAL mr Logicbeatslies! Stop humping that tree and use your LOGIC!
Australian made 10 % of mammals in australia extinct only this 200 years.Australina is the worst coutnry which can not protect wild animals.who can trust Australia?
Great clip. I hope Australian people learn the hypocracy of your government on blaming Japan for whaling. I know this is an off-topic subject here, but Japanese kill whales to eat, but not to extinct them. Huge difference. Before blaming other countries, look at yourself. This is the statement Japanese people really want to say here at YouTube.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No these are cuddly looking animals that make your feelings run high when you see them hurt. I do, we all do. Nobody wants to kill dingo's but it is necessary. The problem is that this video is biased and does not show the real story.
See the hypocrisy?
On the other hand Japan seeks to sideline Australia's legal obligation to challenge Japan and it's continuance of whaling, by saying we act emotionally.
Great video, loxie is such a good looking dingo, your efforts in educating the public are commendable, if every person who views this video took some time to understand our beloved dingo we would already have 1000 people converted from believing the myths that have been upheld by our media, government and farming communities...
Lets get 1080 banned and our native species recognized and protected. Oi Oi Oi
A dingo live across the road from me [suburban Melbourne] my dogs [small white fluff balls] adore him.
He is a magnificent creature. this is my first up close experience with a dingo, and I have to say that they are a majestic dog. This is a big country and there should be a place for all of us, including this beautiful dog. i hope you get a chance to meet one so that you can see what I mean.
Very good film, well done... the dingo wiped out the mainland thylacine and we wiped out the dingo... i'd be very suprised if it could be proven that a pure dingo exists anywhere, even on fraser is... all sad...
dunnart, the idea that dingoes wiped out thylacines on the mainland is little more than unproven speculation.
It's also well established that there are populations of pure dingoes still out there, including that of Fraser Island, and hybridization is no actual threat to dingoes. Go to dingowolf dot org for a brief explanation.
How can the hybridisation of the dingo not be a threat its diluting the gene pool? And your saying that domestic dogs wouldn't survive in the wild bullshit! Most are bigger or faster animals meaning they can pull down bigger game giving them more oppotunities for resource. The only thing a dingo has on a domestic dog is stamina and smarts. And once that first cross does happen those female pups can then breed twice a year! No threat my arse!
Gaschy, I just might refute your claims if you promise to discuss like a mature person and not resort to childish insults in an attempt to win arguments.
Ok then explain? Because I'm sick and tired of everyone claiming that control methods such as shooting and baiting are killing the Dingo when it really isn't. The only thing that threatens the population is hybridisation so expalin please why you don't think it does?
Hi Guys, Great video & such an important message. Sad to see the slow uptake of comments, seems you need to have racist undertones to get a the YouTube community to comment !
Well done. The dingo just like the Kangaroo has been masacred for no logical reason. We assumed the old european stlyle of kill all indigenous/native animals and the sheep/cattle would be better of. What a complete farce still upheld by the meat industry. The saddest point is that the scientists have been saying for years its wrong but the Governments of the day are hung by their balls by the major party funders.
This is indeed a message of monumental importance!! This beautiful and ancient breed is such an important member of the wildlife of Australia. It breaks my heart to see these magnifcent animals not given their rightful place of respect and treated in the manner to which they are entitled..here is to education, awareness and action before it is to late. Thank you for this video!!
Excellent video, Leigh & Daz. I'll forward it around and post a bulletin on YT about it. I hope it will stir lots of people into thinking about this issue in detail and perhaps even stepping in to help out the dingo.
glazlad: Sadly a lot of people who wish to call themselves hunters are not interested in ecological balance. These have an ill-informed idea that if you take out the predators, there would be more prey species to shoot just for the fun of it and a little profit.

Cadrat2006 - Do a little research mate..
1.Frazer/Fraser Big fucking deal get over it.
2.QPWS starving Dingoes. Yes they are. There is little food sources for them left on the island. Dingoes would live side by side with the Aboriginals hunting for themselves and leftovers from the camps. Tourists have completely taken over the island leaving no hunting areas for the Dingo. Crows have invaded the Island competing for food..
canislupisdingo 3 years ago
No need to get huffy mate.
What aboriginals are you refering to here? There weren't any living on the island hunting for themselves last time I was there?
I agree that there are to many tourists and Fraser is being loved to death.
Just a quick one..... Have you ever been there??
Cadrat2006 3 years ago
NOT the Dingo!
canislupisdingo 3 years ago
Gee I don't know where you get your facts but most are wrong.
The dingo population exploded on Fraser because of human interaction. Feeding etc. The poplation was unsustainable for the island.
I myself have been stalked by an adult male and my mother was actually nipped by one in a pack of three juviniles.
I agree that human interaction has affected the dingos and I have seen countles STUPID people on Fraser.

logicbeasties. 1080 poison does not discriminate between Pure and Non-Pure Dingoes. Stupid statement!!The Dingo fence is a huge waste of Taxpayers monie and a Dingo wif willing could jump over it in many places. Where it does work there is a barren wasteland over run by rabbits, cats and foxes and sheep. on the dingo side there is a balance in the ecology..as it has been for thousands of years.
canislupisdingo 4 years ago
You have no idea about the Dingo fence retard I know first hand that when well maintained it prevents a lot of problems for sheep and cattle graziers. Yeh a dingo could maybe jump it if it was presured to otherwise they will quite happily stroll along the fence.

Logicbeatslies. You ARE watching the genocide of a native Australian species through Government sponsorship. By all means save the whale I agree, but look in your own backyard while you are at it. If the Dingo were the size of a Lion or a Bear they would have been protected years ago..
canislupisdingo 4 years ago
Logicbeatslies: The destruction of native fauna is not because of the Dingo. It is beacuse of the imballance created by man due to the introduction of the sheep, goat, cattle, the fox and the cat and the killing of the top predator in Australia. The Dingo was here for thousands of years and the Fauna did pretty well until this. Not very LOGICAL mr Logicbeatslies! Stop humping that tree and use your LOGIC!

Oh get a life.
Japan is one of the biggest markets for Bear bile farmed in China.
Japan continually over fishes beyond it's legal quotas in Australian waters.
Japan wants to kill whales born in Australian waters and whales that spend most of their time in Australian waters.
60 years ago Japan invaded most countries in East Asia murdering millions of men women and children.

Good luck with your quest. Thanks for sharing a hard hitting video.

thanks! this is a great video for Australians, of course for us. Australians do need to learn a food chain and the true environmental problems

This comment has received too many negative votes show
No these are cuddly looking animals that make your feelings run high when you see them hurt.
Logicbeatslies 4 years ago
I think that dingoes look like "Shiba Inu" or "Shiba dog" in Japan. Dingoes are so cute. Japanese people will love them so much.

Very good film, well done... the dingo wiped out the mainland thylacine and we wiped out the dingo... i'd be very suprised if it could be proven that a pure dingo exists anywhere, even on fraser is... all sad...
happy invasion day...
dunnart 4 years ago
dunnart, the idea that dingoes wiped out thylacines on the mainland is little more than unproven speculation.
It's also well established that there are populations of pure dingoes still out there, including that of Fraser Island, and hybridization is no actual threat to dingoes. Go to dingowolf dot org for a brief explanation.
nikicd 4 years ago
How can the hybridisation of the dingo not be a threat its diluting the gene pool? And your saying that domestic dogs wouldn't survive in the wild bullshit! Most are bigger or faster animals meaning they can pull down bigger game giving them more oppotunities for resource. The only thing a dingo has on a domestic dog is stamina and smarts. And once that first cross does happen those female pups can then breed twice a year! No threat my arse!
Gaschy 2 years ago
Gaschy, I just might refute your claims if you promise to discuss like a mature person and not resort to childish insults in an attempt to win arguments.
nikicd 2 years ago
Ok then explain? Because I'm sick and tired of everyone claiming that control methods such as shooting and baiting are killing the Dingo when it really isn't. The only thing that threatens the population is hybridisation so expalin please why you don't think it does?

Hi Guys, Great video & such an important message. Sad to see the slow uptake of comments, seems you need to have racist undertones to get a the YouTube community to comment !
chromii 4 years ago 3
Well done. The dingo just like the Kangaroo has been masacred for no logical reason. We assumed the old european stlyle of kill all indigenous/native animals and the sheep/cattle would be better of. What a complete farce still upheld by the meat industry. The saddest point is that the scientists have been saying for years its wrong but the Governments of the day are hung by their balls by the major party funders.
time2tellall 4 years ago 2
This is indeed a message of monumental importance!! This beautiful and ancient breed is such an important member of the wildlife of Australia. It breaks my heart to see these magnifcent animals not given their rightful place of respect and treated in the manner to which they are entitled..here is to education, awareness and action before it is to late. Thank you for this video!!

Excellent video, Leigh & Daz. I'll forward it around and post a bulletin on YT about it. I hope it will stir lots of people into thinking about this issue in detail and perhaps even stepping in to help out the dingo.
nikicd 4 years ago 3
glazlad: Sadly a lot of people who wish to call themselves hunters are not interested in ecological balance. These have an ill-informed idea that if you take out the predators, there would be more prey species to shoot just for the fun of it and a little profit.

Outstanding. You catch my heart. Makes you wonder about our fellow man.

Thanks. Important message and a great video. The dingo has been copping it since 1788. Australia day! We need a kick up the bum.
