I think he's 94 now. Every time a Hollywood legend dies, it seems the media suggest that they are the last of the great Hollywood actors from the golden days.

Kirk Douglas has to be one of the biggest Hollywood stars ever and he's still around. Spartacus is one of my favourite movies ever, an inspiring film for all revolutionaries, not matter what their politics, even today, and I predict, will remain so forever.

Now that Tony Curtis is gone, I genuinely think Kirk is the last bastion of the Hollywood "Golden era". There have been great actors since, but I think his death will be quite important symbolically, and I for one will be very sad to see him go!

That being said, the man seems to be impervious to any mortal threat, so hopefully he'll stick around for a good long while =)

Kirk Douglas was not my most favorite actor as I preferred John Wayne, but for a man of his age to fight so hard to regain strength and add some humor to it, I have to admit this deserves admiration and respect. I love it when people can manage to live a long productive life and not fall apart. Old age is hard enough but to overcome strokes is definitely a tough challenge. I know as I am in the medical field. It takes an inner strength to do so, and the good Lord of course!

I loved the way he fooled his family by going up and giving a speech when he won his honorary Oscar at a time they didn't even know he could talk.
