Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, my weight is back to where I was when I started thanks to a new job, less time to train, less discipline with my diet (MUCH less discipline). Am working on getting that back on track ASAP.
Honestly, some comments to videos/web articles are really stupid. The video clearly says "when no one else shows up" on a Saturday at 5:30 a.m. Our group that trains at that time sometimes prefer to sleep in or have other obligations. Regarding the bag, every MMA gym has them for a reason. I was practicing explosiveness on bridges and armbar setups primarily. Must be doing something right since I took 2nd place at NAGA. Do you have any videos of you training/rolling?

def a struggle man, i can "diet" all day very well... then at the end of the day im SOOO hungry and thats when the cheat comes for me, ive actually altered my diet very similarly to what youve described so far so guess im on the right track and ive been trying to cheat with "good foods" im looking into a "appetite suppresant" with no side effects (like a stimulant) so i can take it after dinner but i havent found a product that does it yet
thanks for posting and for the inspiration, im 34 and 300lbs 6'2 my 4 y/o has been taking bjj for a couple months and he loves it im going to start taking classes now so i can help him train... and to lose 100+ lbs :) did u change much in your diet or just added the bjj to your normal routine???
Changed everything in my diet. 1st, got rid of all fast food. 2nd, reduced portions to appropriate sizes. 3rd, added veggies/ fruit instead of chips/fries. 4th, decided to compete under 200 at NAGA. 5th, started high protein, low (minimal fat), low calorie diet, no white bread or rice, baked instead of fried. 6th, was going to class and rolling 6 - 8 times per week - sometimes doing two-a-days. Currently, am back at 254 so must get back on track. Go for it and good luck.
If you've seen some of the more recent videos I've posted, you'll see I'm back at 254. Still in better shape than when I started but am way overweight at this weight. Not good. Work load became ridiculous over last year. Biggest culprit is I've lost portion control, made bad food choices, am eating fast food again. Gotta get back on track. I'm working out 5 hours a week only now too so that doesn't help. Every day is a struggle to have that first "good day" in terms of diet.
@tico1267 Five hours a week of workout is enough. You should be able to lose weight without a single workout if you have your diet down. I don't get why you're cutting out or limiting fat and calories, though. Fats are essential to any diet. I'm not sure what your definition of a low calorie diet is, but I really wouldn't recommend working out that often without enough nutrition to recover in between.
Still, I hope you get back up there, tico! Good luck. :)
@MikePostDrums You hit the nail on the head. My diet has not been down anymore. Really, my cutting fat from my diet was a "side effect" of giving up all fast foods, potato chips, and fries. Oh, and switching from fried food at home to baking more. The fats I was getting were not the healthy kind and the proportions of my meals was excessive also. So by switching from fast food to a healthy sandwich, lowfat cheese, fruits, and lowfat yogurt for lunch, for example, fat intake was way down.
@MikePostDrums Low calorie part was because I decided to compete at NAGA but didn't want to compete above 200. The weight loss was from Feb 2009 through Nov. 2009. The last 3 months, I still had about 20 lbs. to make sub-200. So I tweaked my caloric intake and fat intake as needed. Still lost 1 - 2 pounds per week, plateaued several times, then lost again. Energy level and strength always felt good. I was eating enough but a minimal amount of it was junk like before. Thanks for posting.
Hello, thanks for watching/commenting. I'm 43 years old and not the quickest 43 years old either. I'm tall, kind of big. Double legs aren't part of my game. I'll use it if I get the position on someone when we're already on the ground. But if I try to shoot in on anyone, it's low percentage and a hell of alot of effort. I'd much rather pull guard or go into half or butterfly guard than try to go for a takedown. I'm talking competitive grappling, not streetfight scenario.
Hello. I'm not sure what "idd" means. Personally, I don't have all the time in the world to train between travelling for work, the mrs., kids, and life's oddities. So I have to do it all as my schedule allows. That's why I go on weekends at 5:30 - 8 a.m. while everyone's asleep. I must have done something right though b/c I lost 53 pounds from May 2008 or so to Nov. 2009 and my cardio/strength were peaking at the time of the tournament.
well done on the tournament but those drills you did with the gnp dummy were a complete waste of time, youd be better just doing reps of fundamental moements like sit outs, shrimps, leg threads, shots, etc
Thanks for the comments about the tournament. I disagree about your comments about the gnp dummy. One of my weaknesses around that time was being explosive to get a guy off me by bridging. I don't know if the video mentioned it but that was Saturday at 5:30 a.m. Sometimes a couple of guys show up, sometimes no one shows up. That day, no one showed up so I used the dummy to have some of the weight as if I had an opponent on me. The thing weighs about 60 pounds.
@tico1267 its a waste of time, doing the correct movement in a shadow drill would be more beneficial(next to real partner drills). A dummy with arms would be beter than nothing but still pretty poor, its the timing and sensitivity that makes you good at grappling and dummies lack that obviously.Get stronger in the bridge by doing weighted bridges with feet on a low box and bar across your hips, heavy squats will also help.
hey guys what is song of this video ?

bon entrainement mais limite pour le dos a certains moment: genre à 6:40 même si le poids est léger!
