  • jtstanely so do straight people...

  • Are you single?

  • @canada1963 no

  • @canada1963

You wouldn't have this much trouble if you were in Canada, but I ear you, don't give up your fight, I'm proud of you :-)

  • 6:18 therein lies the insanity of this DADT crap. They let you go back to work during the process. If you were such a horribl threat to "good order, discipline, and morale" then surely it should have been necessary to keep you away and from doing further harm.

Also, I don't buy this "I HAVE to do this to you because of the regs" crap. People need to take responsibility for doing right and wrong. Didn't e establish at Nuremburg that following orders is not an excuse?

  • "Didn't e establish at Nuremburg that following orders is not an excuse?"

While I do believe that gays should be allowed to serve, that comment is kinda moronic, the Nuremberg trials dealt with unlawful orders essentially requiring soliders to commit murder, not lawfully following regs to dischage gay servicemen. To compare the two circumstances as being close to equal is absurd and it belittles the suffering of victims of war crimes.

  • Military regs and culture harboring/encouraging homophobia has led to the DEATH of US soldiers who are gay. To claim that the policies do not lead to the violence and deaths is deliberately blind.

  • I'm well aware of the deaths of gay a "suppected to be gay" servicemen. I didn't claim the polices don't lead to violence. I do also believe that when the act is eventually repealed, you WILL see MORE violence, but the point I was making is that your comparison of the perhaps few dozen gay servicemen killed versus the MILLIONS of people killed during the Nazi's program of genocide is abjectly ridiculous. It is NOT up to a solider's superior to ignore REGULATIONS no matter their personal beliefs.

  • And to expand on that point, the US army does not have written regulations demanding soliders to kill innocents although it does happen and certainly any superior that gives an order to kill innocents is giving an unlawful & immoral order. The DADT reg maybe immoral, but it's lawful and it's the sworn duty of a solider to follow regs. Don't put them in the middle of this debate, it's PURELY the responsibility of politicians to change the law.

  • I thank you for having the courage to fight for what is right. I thank you for serving, especially during this time when some of the leaders of our country lack the basic intelligence of a jackass. And I am sorry you were unable to continue your service as you intended. From your other videos, it was obvious that you enjoyed much of your time in the service. May your future bring much happiness and more fulfillment.

  • Sorry to hear about this, man. I am proud of you for standing up for what's right and not taking the easy way out. You're a hero in many ways.

  • Meanwhile themilitary except WHITE trash neo-nazis left and right/felons etc..but as long as they are Hetero? Liberty & Justice for All..my ass!

  • The United States is a barbaric, backward looking, theocracy.

Where do they get the nerve to criticise other countries human rights record??

  • (SHAKES HEAD) Stupid, isn't it? Discharged not because you were incompetent but because you're gay. Yet maybe some guy in your unit is incompetent but, wait, he's straight so that's all right then. Total hypocrisy. Good luck my friend.

  • You're right actually. Someone in my chain of command actually told me that there were other people he would have rather discharged instead of me.

  • It's disgusting the government could treat citizens like this and shameful that the people allow it to happen.

USA is 1 of the last members of NATO to have a policy against glbt people serving their country.

Diasspointing Powell only gave a luke warm endorsement of review of DADT.

Obama can demonstrate his commitment to new values and comminty by taking action now

I hope you are in touch with Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (or other related organizations) for advice & support.

  • I hope the process goes as smoothly as possible and when challenges rise up you know you have support from many people.

    Continued strength and courage.

"What have you done today to make you feel PROUD?"

    (Proud, Heather Small)

  • I actually didn't want to work with SLDN, because my understanding is that they are geared more towards helping people not to get caught. I needed to take a different approach. I needed to face it head on and say (in a matter of speaking) "Yes, I'm gay. So what?"

  • man this really sucks, they should not be allowed to discharge you for what you have said on an public forum, u might be in the milatary but u still have the right to have a point of view.

i hope every thing works out man.

i think it was great that they gave you a lot of support, it is nice to see that here are still some nice people in the world.

  • A lot of nice people in fact. :)

  • where's part 2?! :(

  • Sorry, I've been having some trouble uploading it. I'm trying to get it up asap. I'm at my parents place now and the only internet I get is through my BlackBerry so it's not very fast. Plus my laptop is really super slow as well.

  • it sucks that happened to you i'm sorry. My ex boyfriend recently got out of the miltary and came home. It's long story.

  • I hope it's not a bad story though.

  • it's a little sad cause he got hurt, what we orginally thought happened was alot worse.

  • Hey! Long time no see...How are things out of the mil? Lol I got a job working at Fry's Electronics for 8/hr :/ oh well its a start lol. By the way you should listen to this: Bach Concerto for Two Violins. Peace.

  • Hey man. Things are going pretty well. I've been learning some carpentry while working on finishing the music studio my family is building. I'm working part time for my parents for a little while, but I doubt I'll be working very much the next few months cause I'm taking three music production classes at the same time.

  • that's awesome! email me your user youtube anme for music, i lost it :( good to hear from you

  • It's "YoDeeKu", but I'm thinking of making a new one using my artist name "Koonsidi'o". I need to start fresh cause what I have now kind of sucks and I need to do it over better.

  • Man this is all such bullshit and could (should-- BETTER) be over with sooner than later with Obama as President.

Thank you for sharing your story--for showing the truth to this issue.

  • Yeah, I'm really hoping that Obama doesn't put the issue on the back burner...

  • Well, he's going to have to at first, seeing how there's a crapload of pressing stuff to deal with from the economy to foreign affairs.

Having said that, it would seem to be a good thing for our foreign affairs if we had more military--esp all the qualified and talented people DADT disqualifies. But, I agree that he needs to build a consensus to avoid backfire.

  • First thing i'll say is you've got nice sideburns.

It sucks that DADT is still around and has to be enforced and everything. But it's cool that you got so much support from everyone in your chain of command.

I thought there was some kind of court ruling not long ago that said that they couldn't kick gay people out unless they were engaging in gay relationships on base or something...? did u hear about that too? maybe i was imagining it lol...

  • No, I don't think there has been such a ruling unfortunately.

  • Australia did this at least 15 years ago, and there are various gay military men who are out in the Australian military. They even March in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in their uniforms as military men. Most people here are very supportive. Things will change. Blessings +^+^+ The Saint

  • Thanks Saint

  • It is a crazy law that Clinton introduced: the "don't tell law". That really made the US military vulnerable to blackmail and I would say that they would have been quite nervous about you. It would be far more secure for the US military, and for your welfare, as well as other military men's welfare, to just come clean and tell the truth and not be discriminated against. It is really none of anyone's business. If there are no secrets about you, you are safer in your job.
