I had the same problem I just changed my setting into:

NDS Cartridge Backup Media: FRAM 32KBytes and the rrest of the settings right for Pokemon Pearl I hope it helped ;)

u have to go to options then click on emulation setup then u have to find NDS Cartridge backup media set it and then if it doesnt work click on another like FLASH 512K bytes

I figured it out and now i have the actual game so...yeah.

@pokemon56789 yup i know i kept trying to play paper mario 2 backup in my wii i got freaking frustrated then i just bought the game lol
