  • @dccmpbll And that's how to win a Medieval 2 Campaign. Bravo.

  • This music reminds me of one time playing M2TW vanilla as sicily, right around the area of Antioch. I amassed hordes of infantry and cavalry, and duked it out right there in land battles against the mongols, my cavalry against theirs, and so on. Shit was epic, I'd plow through the mongols with full stacks of just cavalry. My losses were pretty heavy, but I crushed all their armies and the invasion ended. Kinda the same with the Timurids.

  • This song has an amazing feeling that makes me look at how far my Janissaries have come in their conquest. 120 years, from Asia Minor to the Balkans to Italy, long live the masters of siege warfare!

  • i wana see the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon perform to this song. just imagine them doing thier rifle tricks to the beat of the song.

  • @decon117 Marine what xD?

  • Great times

  • CHAAAAARRRGEEEEE!!!!

  • Portugal marches to fight Spain!

  • the only problem with medieval 2 total war is that there are no sea battles the pc resolves them automatically other than that its probably one of the best strategy games ever

  • @thickthighsluv although at the time, sea battles probably weren't that fun to play out. they were usually insignificant

  • Scotland will fight ye for these waters!

  • i almost want to make more accounts to like this song...

  • why is this song so fuckin aewsome?

  • Mare nostrum was the nickame for the Mediterranean dating back to the Romans, it means our sea, because they encompassed all land around it

  • Spanish Empire FTW!

  • Mare Nostrum in portuguese means *Nosso Mar*...

  • Fuck the English language. english language are language of Saxon barbarian, all languagesderived from Latin roman know What it means mare nostrum.

sorry my bad english, is because i hate this language for comunication

  • @aranhaloco Nah, it's okay, but you should learn english because it is VERY important language. I'm 15 years old finnish boy and I can say, I know how to speak english, and I speak it well! (In my opinion) :D

  • @aranhaloco Just because you speak Portuguese doesn't mean your language is in any way superior. All the languages of Western Europe borrowed from Latin. To hate them because they have influences from their old cultures is to hate the cultures of Europe. Are you some kind of Southern European supremacist?

  • @EdikShepherd When did Germanic languages come from Latin? Was it not from the Indo-European first?

  • @CosmicGrounds I dont think Roman Rule reached past the rhine to make German a language of latin origins. From what I heard, Arminius beat Varus's ass at teutoburg forest and the Romans never went past the rhine again. Atleast, I think thats how it went... im pretty sure German has no latin roots.

  • @TotalRoman04 not true, the Romans did stay in German territory after the battle (i recall reading something about them visiting the battlefield of the massacre) but they did eventually fall back to the Rhine cuz it was too much effort for not really a lot of reward

  • @Schism704 Im guessing that fall-back is why Germans where able to keep their language? Or did they already adopt latin language when Varus was incharge?

  • @TotalRoman04 they kept their language

  • @TotalRoman04

Germany has no latin language - its roots are somewhre else entirely. You can actually hear this: Compare French, Italian and Spanish to each other. Then compare any of those to German.

  • @JoshuatheKodiak I know XD...the reason for that is Romans never permenantly settled past the rhine...so there was no Roman infleunce to make German a language of latin roots. The history of Language is so intresting :)

  • @aranhaloco haha go ahead and try to speak portuguese to any superior country nowadays then lets see how many will be able to understand you english is by far the best language in the world !

    greetings from germany

  • @TwilightLink293 ok barbarian, germanic clansman hahahahaha.

  • @TwilightLink293 that doesnt make sence languages dont fight each other and compete for ranks there is no best language huge oxymoron

  • @TwilightLink293 Esperanto is the best language of the world: No nation, no opression.

  • @AxierNigromante Yes, world with no nations except there will be one totally unchecked global government, well done, you have enslaved us all to global tyranny.

  • @Zultra2 We? What have i done? What are you talking about? I'm not American.

  • @AxierNigromante SHIT MAN I HATE YOU WHY DID YOU ENSLAVE US

  • @getout2012 I'm so sorry, next time i'll let you be free.

  • And what about the French hijacked English Flags ? I don't see any English guy on the picture ...

  • @Technaugure There The english are behind the french also if you look on the right you can see a several English troops firing arrows

  • @Technaugure it is the French knights running away from English soldiers :D

  • @TalonMercenary lol why do you guys hate the french so much didnt you guys kick their ass every time you came in contact with them

  • @snipes081 I don't hate them ^^ but this is what the picture looks like lol

  • @snipes081 There's been many wars between England and France in the past, so it was difficult for us to be friends, because we'd have been stabbing at them again before the end of the year. Of course, we don't hate the French as much now, though we do make a lot of jokes...

  • @TalonMercenary the way it was meant to be,

  • Just enjoy the music.

  • I also saw that in the picture are English and French flags which means there was a battle from which the French are fleeing. The hundred year's was a massive war between these two factions, also in that time period England was at it's maritime power. Mare Nostrum was the English channel that connects England from France.AND Mare Nostrum is the name of the music. :) (easy)

  • hello there, I'm from Europe and my country's language was Latin 'til 20th century and I'm sure that ''Mare Nostrum'' means Our Sea or Mediterranean Sea.

  • @MinecraftMr21 this is ridiculous, I'm replying to my own message 'cause i forgot to add something:

I'm Romanian and I agree with Aeternitis about marea noastra

  • For example the latin word ''mare nostrum'' translates in romanian as ''marea noastra'', meaning ''our sea''.

  • Had a swordfight with a friend. I had a wooden sword and she had a plastic one. Later the plastic sword shattered and the wooden one too many dents to count :).(that was not a sex joke btw)

  • mare= sea nostrum= our

  • Now THIS is the kind of music befitting of a cavalry charge!

The Spanish (or Portuguese) Army should have this song blaring whenever they're rolling their tanks.

  • @wolagin But keep searchin' I'm not really sure you know ... Maybe it's hide in the deep cyberspace ;-) .

  • @wolagin I don't think so... :(

  • shouldn't those french banners be white?

  • @a7vtank Nope Pure White banner was only when the King was here in person. Then it was white with Lys or blue with Lys.

  • @IBGriffith not quite what i meant but thanks, good fact to know.

  • @a7vtank Ah yes ! Sorry I just occured the english's banner in the middle of french battalion. Yes you're right ;-)

  • @IBGriffith I guess this is the usual "French are cowards" due to WW2 joke. Protip: Read some history and then let's see what you think of them.

  • @FlawlessFlaw07 But wait ... IBGriffith is from France himself. Are you sure he's making that kind of joke?

  • @FlawlessFlaw07 No worries, I'm french and french love use of sarcasms ;-) . But it's fact history french royal banner was immaculate white. But then about the joke it's quite true too. I'm stay waiting the next revolution. From now some severals riot but it's not enought. You should see on June Anti-G8 & Anti-G20 demonstration to see some brave people =) .

  • This song = chase down and massacre the fleeing enemies. Quickly, before the Pope orders another ceasefire!

  • @dccmpbll fuck the pope i always too rome

  • This music is similar to Rome: Total War music in some cases, as there are still 'sleeping' Romans named Byzantines in medieval ages.

  • @Priyo866 yes the Byzantine Empire is the evolution of the eastern Roman empire after the splitting of the eastern and western parts of Rome

  • @starsiegeRoks Yes. Byzantines called themselves 'Eastern Romans' until the Western Roman Empire ended. Eastern Romans were left, but after some years they changed their Empire's name to the area around their capital Constantinople, Byzantium.

  • French men with English banners? Theres a first xD

  • @angryboy2k9

I think they're being pursued by english knights behind them.

    Maybe?

  • @CKabayan Yeah probably xD

  • damn, i have 20 tabs of total warfare music open, at the same time.

  • Crown of Aragon. Their sea :D

  • I listen to this song and want to play the game, everytime.

  • My favorite parts are the flutes, they should have been longer....

  • Bitch we own this sea!

  • imo the song really starts at 2:09

  • @Trully006 Well I wouldn't say "starts" but I love the lute/guitar. Really makes the song feel that much more epic. You know you can take a background like this and add something like flutes or a guitar and it changes how you feel about a battle completely

  • Beautiful song, great game. Thanks for uploading it.

  • I think, technically ETW is the best, but M2TW has the best feeling.

  • This game is one of the best ever made.

  • Anyway... This track ROCKS!

    Sooooo Epic! *_*

  • If ye want to hear the opinion of an italian who studied this at school:

"Mare Nostrum" has always been a kind of nickname for "Mare Mediterraneum". In fact this name has been in use for all the middle ages, for they belived, especially in eraly dark ages, to be the continuity of the roman empire. The Sacred German Empire was considered the remaining of the Western Empire at the end of the Roman Age.

  • @BardSong89 I agree. Also, the Byzantines were referred to as Romans in their time. The idea that they are not the Roman Empire is relatively recently. Its just that the Empire moved its capital. The Byzantines actually lasted longer than the earlier Roman Empire and in a much more stable and continuous form.

  • @BardSong89 Even more, Mussolini used this word again to express his wish to recreate the Roman Empire. And just a note: the Sacred German Empire in English is called Holy Roman Empire.

  • @BardSong89 Sorry to reply to a year old post. The real true successor to the roman empire was infact the byzantine yet it lived on throughout many ways. Mainly the chruch.

  • @Girbub agreed. the german empire was created by the pope 400 years after the fall of the western roman empire, to counter the byzantines.

  • Makes me feel as if I am dueling on rapiers with some spanish noble. As if this is a step by step battle-dance.

  • spelling so bad that the translator could not move to Spanish

    ii

    ii

    v

  • I love the beat!

  • I usually get this music when I play as an italian faction

  • mongol 2000 heavy and light cavalry vs HRE 3000 calvary?

  • I guess it usually plays near the coast... It usually plays when I play as Portugal and fight the Spaniards, Moorish or French. (and the Danish if I manage to take over the other three)

  • i wonder why it's called "Mare Nostrum", it's latin for "our sea".

  • as far as I know that's how the romans called the Mediterranean, "OUR SEA"

  • yeah. it basically was theirs...

  • @jacotube The Mediterranean was known as a Roman lake since they controlled all the land around it :D

  • @xWHITExEAGLEx thats what the Italians tried to do in World War II and failed miserably...lol!

  • @jacotube But mare nostrum means our sea in latin, mediterranian means "the midland" according to google translate

  • @Areskouget A better translation would probably be "sea in the middle of the land" like mesopotamia in reverse.

  • @jacotube Yeah. I can't remember which is which but one of the words means "Meditteranean" and the other meant "Sea", if you say Nostrum Mare, it comes up as Meditteranean Sea.

  • @angryboy2k9 no it comes up as our sea (mare=sea, Nostrum=our)

  • @MateusVIII Hm. I'm sure I saw it translated directly as "Meditteranean Sea" and then reversed it came up as "Our Sea"... Language is an odd thing, why can't everything be a direct translation? Make life easier.

  • @angryboy2k9 well they called the mediteranean sea like that so this is wht you saw translated, because it is exactly this words, since the empire covered all coast of the mediteranean they called "our sea"

  • @MateusVIII I know that already. I'm just sayin' that the translation is changed by simply swapping the two words around, giving it a new meaning -__-

  • @angryboy2k9 no the meaning is the same, all languages that come from latin are swaped in english, but the meaning is still the same, it still is Our sea.

  • @MateusVIII Fair enough. I still don't get why I translated "Nostrum Mare" and it came up as that though -__-

  • @angryboy2k9 Latin is very hard to translate into any language, the grammar being so different and the language itself being kinda incomplete.

Yet, "nos" is a prefix that means "we," and the Spanish "nosotros" means "we" exactly. Mare means sea, so it's fair to assume that it means "We Sea" which, in Latin grammar, is more like "the sea that is ours" or "our sea"

  • @jacotube mare nostrum in latin

  • @jacotube More like "our private lake, mofos!

  • ITs what the Romans called the Meditteranean. More or less because they owned it.

  • Ye I don't see any links between this and the romans :)

  • Medieval European countries used a lot of Latin, so they probably also called the Mediterranean "Mare Nostrum".

  • "Our Sea"

  • @doom032 the romans called "Mare Nostrum" to the Mediterranean because all the lands surrounding it were roman, so only romans sailed on that sea

  • @doom032 As about the functions of the game that is true to all except The Byzadine Empire. They used Greek and in fact some of them despised latin especially after the Schism in1054!

  • you would be right. Greek Firethrowers...so awesome

  • Totally Awesome music, really gets you in the zone.

  • Epic...

  • hehe, i think it was this music that was playing when i led my HRE's 140 archers and 100 spearmen against about 800 Milanese infantry and cavalry to victory in the alps

not even half of my spearmen died and i sloughtered over 600 enemy troops during that battle

just too bad the next battle with that little army wasnt that succesfull, as they brought their king and a prince...

still two epic battles though :D

  • Well played

It rarely happens that heroes live to profit from their achieved glory

  • are there spanish or portuguese factions in this game?

  • you got Spain and Portugal in the game.

  • cool thanks!

  • Note that, in Medieval 2, Portugal is an unlockable faction that is not available from the beginning.

  • with a little help from the internet, you can make them unlocked from the beginning =).

  • Indeed. That is what I did. =)

  • no aragonese in tjis game, right ?

  • you're right, no aragonese in this game

  • sry no, CA is unfortunately know for its creative take on history :s

  • They were in the first Medieval. Sometimes I miss some points that are lost in Medieval 2, the first one was more "didactic".

  • I think some mods have that faction

  • @Djboborei both are in the game

  • i like this song good for M2TW

  • i like this when you are just about to charge your army its nice and it also gets u into the zone

  • Моя любимая композиция в Medieval 2 TW. Звуки труб и кастаньет буквально вызывают дрожь, потрясающе.

  • Awesome piece of music. Thanks for sharing!
