  • thanx but it didnt seem to work all the time like with 990x53 must be another trick ?

  • THANK U SO MUCH, i'm not so good with this, so, thank's

  • hey thanks i'm terrible with math and this helped me a lot.

  • THX!

  • Thankyou so much you've helped me along with thousands of other students- Four years on Youtube I've never subscribed with anything, today is gonna be an exception after viewing your amazing videos. THANKYOU :)

  • AHH THANK YOU!

  • Thanks I was forgetting to add the second 0

  • yeah i can multiply

  • lol im taking calculus and just found out why you put a 0 there :P

    remembering back...

student: why do you put a 0 there?

    teacher: you just do

  • Got it completely wrong im tryin to do 881 * 23 and i cant do it., i gotta be able to work it out on paper and show my working out :(

  • I already translated this video in Spanish subtitles, buy how do you actually mark it as done 100% on the tracking page in Google Docs Spreadsheet page?

    spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AuQTo7uZ_QN-dHpaWjNaaktRUUI3Y0V3N1Z1WTUxWUE&hl=en&pli=1#gid=0

It would be helpful, just to let other trranslators know that has been already translated.

  • thanks man, I am a 22 year old college graduate (3.43 GPA) and I forgot how to do this properly. Thanks!

  • thank you!!! fuck yeah, this guys awesome.

  • This is great because Usama bin Laden is dead!

  • thank you . You help me remember this kind of multiplication

  • thank you for sharing. this has helped my 3rd grader a lot.

  • This is the old "I will hate math forever" way of doing math. Please stop teaching this archaic and stupid way of doing math. There are far superior more useful and faster ways of doing this! I really hate that ppl have the nerve to show how to do math this WAY MORE DIFFICULT WAY!

  • Jeez I'm 21 and I couldn't remember how to multiply to save my life. Thanks.

  • this helped me so much , I had a review test and I totally forgot about multipilcation!

    :D

  • Thanks sometime my mind blacks out u really helped me

  • wow thxx i always forget everything after breaks and my brain is like blank and i forgot how to multiply and i needa do this noopy math hw but u helped me sooo much thankkzzz :DD

  • thank you so much i will subsribe

  • Thank you... Thank you... Thank you! I couldn't remember how to do it by hand.

  • thank you so much! you cleared this up for me alot

  • Love the way you made a channel for this thanks so much (:

  • You are correct.

  • If you want to become good at math go to my youtube channel: (Youlovemathematics). In my channel i will teach you everything about math step by step. I will start with teaching you (necessary basic math skills) and then I will teach you the more advanced math topics. Just click on Playlists when you are on my channel and you will be able to watch my math videos in order. I promise that i will teach everything in an easy way. Math is easy if you have a good teacher.

  • uhh thats the way they teach us to multiply O.O

  • Thank you you've cleared alot of things up for me.

  • Thank you so much! I was confused with multiplying a 3 digit number by a 3 digit number, so I searched for a video on youtube and I found this one, and it helped me out! Thank you so much,

    Austin.

  • thx u!! im in fifth grade and i im so good at 1 digit 2 digit 3 digit and so on but im just looking for good review

  • most students are not aware multiplication is basic addition and think multiplication is a new form of math, just because you can memorize an operation, doesnt mean you understand how its utilized. an example is someone can play a voilin abd play a mozart symphony, it doesnt mean they can write a symphony piece like mozart. thats the difference between understanding an operation and memorizing it.

  • for anyone confused with multiplication your simply taking the amount on the left of the times sign and adding it repeatedly the number of times of the right, the x is pronounced added and the times goes on the end of what your saying, not the middle.

    examples:

2x5=10 two added five times equals ten total or 2+2+2+2+2=10

2x3=6 two added three times equals six total or 2+2+2=6

3x7=21 three added seven times equals twenty one total or 3+3+3+3+3+3+3=21

  • its designed to increase speed in doing written math operations and save space on paper.

try writing 2x100 oldschool longhand addition and youll appreciate the multiplication code and understand its usefullness. 2+2+2 etc..

  • in saying times all the time teachers confuse students and your students arent realizing that multiplication is basic addition, its repeated addition. people use to count objects in groups (repeated amounts) because its quicker to count objects in groups than one object at a time.

removal of traditional counting out of the class seems to be the culprit in the west, i suggest bringing in an abbacus and using traditional counting. or find something to count :). cheers-n

  • hey guy just a thought to clarify for yourself and students.

x=added not times. its pronounced 235 added 47 times.

2x10=20 is pronounced two added ten times equals twenty total.

multiplication is a form of shorthand or initialing for repeated longhand addition, designed to reduce adding operations.

    2x10=20 is the initaling for

2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2=20, just like writing your initials, a quick way of doing old school repeated addition.

  • this is easy for me... i used to be home schooled and i learned this in like fifth grade, or sooner

  • Where is level 1,2, and 3 level multiplication?

  • Excuse my poor knowledge of the system, but is there anything beyond level 4?

"Level 5 multiplication"'s got to be exciting...

  • thx so much provincals are coming up and ii thought i was screwed but not now

  • soooooo easy, everyone shold know this, thanx man

  • oh thank you.i know how to do level 4 multiplication now!!!

  • me no like it

  • that guy speaks very clearly

  • ohhh yes it is great

  • I think it's interesting, if you think about it, how the whole process works. You're actually secretly using the distributive property. So 234x643 can also be written as 234(600 + 40 + 3) = 234x600 + 234x40 + 234x3 which is what we've been doing all along in that shorthand algorithm... Whoever came up with that algorithm was a genius lol.

  • were i live usually do it like that....

  • i think standard is way esier then lattice

  • I like the lattice method a lot better than the standard way teachers always teach...but good lesson though:)

  • heh, I like it.
