I have loved this piece my entire life and, while the Horowitz and Gilels versions thrill me, I must say that your performance transfixed me and brought me to tears. And this despite hearing it only on an above average lap top. Your rendition, in it's intensity and pathos, broke my heart. Thank you. tom
Easy, yes, because even I can play it...well. (If I get my piano back, I'll publish a video.) By the way, Yevgeny takes no umbrage although, in my opinion, he performs Vocalise perfectly. Also, on YouTube, there's a wonderful Hungarian marquise who performs a bizarre arrangement of Vocalise, but exquisitely. I'll try to find Gilels'. Enjoy your respite in Neufchatel.
Waddyamean "...neither Gilels nor Horowitz." It's BETTER...pure Duchoud. Gorgeous manic schizoid. Your best yet. Why not try Rach/Vocalise (Richardson arr.)? Kissin recorded it. And it's easy.
You flatter me, dear...EASY???????????? Nono. I tried it in Xania, with score, nono. Eugene played it as an encore in London I think? apologies but it was not good and I more and more distrust studio recs. I stick to the divine Gilels' recording of that piece on "Gilels in recital", which was stolen from me but I have it in my mind every day since.
Kissin made a Chopin recital in Evian a few years ago, birds delicately chattering through the open doors that was gorgeous.
In the above comment I'm speaking of Vocalise...although this Scriabin study is as well on that CD, for which I am still looking if anyone's got it please!
It's on the north coast of Crete-Krete (the big island south of Greece and north of Lybia...), west side of the island, also written Chania. And it's beautiful in the fall...
From a place called Saint-Gingolph, a big village one half in France and the other in Switzerland, next to Evian - the water and the swimming babies -, on the shore of the Leman Lake and the Alps all around, but I live in Salonica, Sholun, Northern Greece.

joulthessalonique,
I would agree with you that this is not an easy
piece. It is especially difficult to play extremely well. It's hard to believe Scriabin composed this when he was only 14 years old.
