@cherrysoda1234567 usually the original is better, but IMO not in this case. Billy sings better and has a better voice. I guess some people are just used to the original, and it's hard to hear it otherwise. That goes with any song that's been remade.
I'm not an old timer or anything, and I like Billy Currington and all, but I have to say that the original version by Kenny Rogers is much better. If you don't know it you should check it out instead.
