hi, I haven't ever owned a dog and was wondering if a Rottweiler would make a
good first dog, are they really that bad, I understand that they can be dominant but
I wil show my dominance when its a puppy...I really want one but haven't owned a dog before....my question is can I keep a Rottweiler as a first time dog??

It's big damn toad and two playful rotties. Just by watching this, you can see the toad was quite irritated, but not hurt. Besides the fact that they could hurt the toad, you really should have stopped this because judging by the way your dog was drooling, that toad was poisonous. Your dogs didn't die, but it is probably just that they didn't ingest enough of the secretions for it to make them seriously ill, but that just means you and your dogs were lucky.

Cane Toads are a NO NO for humans and animals because they secrete this white mucus like fluid from the glands behind their ears (thats what you saw in this video) and the fluid can Kill!!!!
If you look up Southern Bufo Toad it will tell you what to do for your dogs if they get exposed. Once they start shaking their head though, something is happening to them. It's obviously been a while. I hope they're OK.

@foreverlove212121 well your both actually right, the problem is, pretty much every species of toad has venom, its in their skin and slim secretions, it is dangerous and sometimes fatal to ingest, the least dangerous problem it could cause is your dogs foaming at the mouth and its all pink, yes i had a neighbor who had a Black Lab, it used to pick up the toads in her yard, wouldnt hurt em, but soon after she'd be foaming pink from her mouth. that was the venom, its effects vary based on toad

Cane Toads are a NO NO for humans and animals because they secrete this white mucus like fluid from the glands behind their ears (thats what you saw in this video) and the fluid can Kill!!!!

Are the dogs OK now?
If you look up Southern Bufo Toad it will tell you what to do for your dogs if they get exposed. Once they start shaking their head though, something is happening to them. It's obviously been a while. I hope they're OK.
Dogs are very curious, so you should always be careful.

@foreverlove212121 well your both actually right, the problem is, pretty much every species of toad has venom, its in their skin and slim secretions, it is dangerous and sometimes fatal to ingest, the least dangerous problem it could cause is your dogs foaming at the mouth and its all pink, yes i had a neighbor who had a Black Lab, it used to pick up the toads in her yard, wouldnt hurt em, but soon after she'd be foaming pink from her mouth. that was the venom, its effects vary based on toad

mcld318 is right, the poison stings, disables for a short while, and paralyzes or relaxes the muscles or glands that the toads poison glands touch. If the dogs tongue touched the frog, it's saliva glands will relax and let out the saliva causing the dog to drool or salivate. The Cane Toad is an invasive species from Australia. They hitched a ride on an Australian cargo boat and invaded Hawaii.
