  • o thats very cool....

  • Im having a hard time imagining the accuracy of these adapters. I know people have already cited the decreased accurancy and the "keyholing" or tumbling of the rounds but can someone do a video or field test of these. Im mostly interested in the 12g to .22lr adapter. Dave, do you have any interest in doing a field video with some of your adapters? Thanks for the great material you provide!

  • So, I'm guessing .45 ACP, .357 and .22 LR are coming next? Very popular, and they'd gain a whole lot from having an actual rifled barrel.

  • is it rifled, are there rifling in the tube or just a smoothbore? also why nit made it 14" long for more power and penetration?

  • i did not to far back on the comments but does this effect the 12 gauge barrel at all

  • @lolworld2012 I agree. :)

  • U should shoot a deer with a 12GA slug not a 9mm

  • @wildernessoutfitters … Since I was 9 it's the only time I've ever missed. I could only get within about 30 feet and the Antelope got up and hobbled 100 Yds at a time. 5 rounds nice group, didn’t penetrate the hide. I got nice mushroom HP just like the picture on the box. The 6th shot, head shot; took it down. I was awful and I still ask for forgiveness for it. I only went rifle hunting one time after that for Oryx, 1 perfect shot. Now I bow hunt only and no more 9mm side arms for self defense

  • @wildernessoutfitters Hi, Dave, you mentioned shooting a deer with a 9mm in this vid. I would say FMJ head shot ONLY! I want to tell you about when I had to shoot a Pronghorn Antelope with a 9mm. It was a serious case of unfortunate events. I don’t want anyone else to have this happen. Here’s the summery: Unknown to me the Mag had fallen out of .308 Rem model 788 and Dad had taken my rounds from my pack. 1st shot I flinched and shot the front leg off, then CLICK. I had to use my 9mm Beretta…

  • Dave is the boss, these kinds of small gems of engineering are often such a trouble to seek out.

  • Where can I get that sweater you have on in the video it's pretty cool

  • Could you use this and the other adapters in a double barrel shotgun? Say a 12 gauge shell in one barrel and a 9mm or .22 in the other?

  • Got my 9mm adapter and it shoots pretty accurate at 20 yds. Thanks for the link Dave!

  • Good groups.

  • I purchased a 12 to 28 gauge. It's great! Shoots awesome!

  • Awesome idea. Any thoughts of boring some out to .40 or are you just trying to tip the 9 vs 40 argument in favor of the 9? :)

  • Thanks man love it

  • Nice grouping! $80? Nice! Plus have a 12 gage on top is awesome.

  • Stock up on those 9MM adapters, Dave. You will be selling a bunch.

  • Very Cool idea! Gotta look into that adapter!

  • What do you think of this?

The lost art of "Cut Shells"

    youtube.com/watch?v=k3M46XVfVOU

  • Nice! great innovations!

  • Now if you guys will look at that log behind the board you can see were it was gouging out that log, so I would bet you could get heart shot at 50 yards maybe 85.and with a 223 i wouldnt see any problem at a 100 yards

  • DAM I see these adapter saling like gold.these adapter will blow all other survival weapon's out the water.but i didn't see any 9inch adapter for 44 mag. unless I would have to special order it

  • thats some nice grouping with a 12 guage sir...

  • Will I just looked this up and for the price of these babys its a hell of a lot cheaper than going out and buying a nother gun.what a good 9mm now day. are a S&W 44mag. what 8 or 900 dollars my brothers 89 dollar you do the math

  • That is great but DAMN IT I need it for .357 mag! Thanks for the info Dave as always!

  • that is cool

  • Nice vid, thanks Dave. Man you could use that thing as a dang club in a pinch, as well as several other uses off the top of my head. Good product test.

  • If you're carrying a 9mm side-arm already, why would you still need the adapter?

  • @i500x To shoot the Ammo you have if something happend to the Pistol brother

  • @wildernessoutfitters That would be a good piece to go into the 12 g flare gun

  • @wildernessoutfitters what is your common man side arm of choice?

  • @wildernessoutfitters Also Dave, the long gun would have better accuracy I'm sure. And if someone were to have some 9MM and want to do some trading with you for something. You could accept the 9MM rounds (since they are quite plentiful in the world) even if you didn't have a 9MM handgun. Great call. I'm getting the 22, 410, 38 Special and 45 ACP if they have them. Thanks for the video Dave.

  • It's good to see the ol' sniper has still got it. Nice groups brother. Can't wait to get my hands on one of those.

  • This one our of all the adapters makes the most sense. At 9 inches it is about twice as long as 9mm pistol. 9 mm ammo is probalble the most popular ammo out there. So it seem like it is pretty good. Best one yet.

    cheers

  • Dave I would love to see you do a fire starting video with a .22 or shotgun, using natural tinders? So many of us have a gun in the woods, and little else sometimes. I did a you tube and google search and did not find anything instructional.

  • Dave, since you are a fan of the M6 Scout, will you be getting an adapter for 12 gauge-to-45 Colt. That you could fire 45 colt out of both shot barrels you have.

  • @theatwo Already have the 3" adapter for 12-410/45LC so I am not sure about that one yet, we are gonna get 357/38, and 22LR done first, then go from there.

  • were you shooting offhand or on a rest? just wondering.I'm guessing offhand but you know a rest is better so curious. I have seen adapters for .30 06 in catalogs but they are short....what do you think of them? thanks for any feedback.

  • Looks nice, do you know when (if) one is going to be made for .223/5.56, .22Lr, and .45 ACP with the extended barrel like that? it may also be cool to have one in 30-06, or a larger hunting caliber like that.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Dave, PLEASE tell the maker of these to make a 9mm adapter in 20ga as well. Myself and many others have found the 20ga to be more than enough for this sort of application. This would be excellent for women and younger shooters as well...

  • Those shots seemed pretty consistent, it must reload easy enough, and that its a 9mm, everyone seems to have a 9 sitting around, ammo would be easy if you had to look for any for it.

  • I know for a fact that a 9mm will take down a deer at least because my 6year old girl killed her first deer with one a few weeks ago

  • dave i am tickled to death today ..i went to my local pawnshop where i usually shop and found a new england pardner with 3 inch chamber for 80 out the door its in good shape but need a little refinishing. Its not rusty but some bluing wore off and stocks need a little refinishing...what do you thuink of the pardner as compared to the HnR?

  • @SirMidnightBravehear Same Gun bro

  • Looks at S&W MP40 .... and cries =*( **

  • Good shooting Dave.

  • what kind of 9mm do you shoot?

  • I like it

  • Dave, is that a Mastino Bush shirt you're wearing??

  • Thanks Dave. Just used that coupon code to order the short 12g-9mm $2 off and free shipping. I'll be sure and post a review on it when it arrives! Tks again Dave!

  • Very good groups dave, impressive for only having a bead sight @ 20 yards. I going to get me one of these for sure.

Any plans on doing anything on air rifles / pellet rifles ? I've always thought you get the most bang for your buck as far as taking small game and the amount of ammo you can take with since your propellant is built into the gun it self. Even Luwis & Clark carried a air rifle.

  • I have got to have one of these! I have a long tom 12GA that I use for bird/squirrel. Even the novelty of shooting a 9mm from it is enough for me.

  • Slap that in your sxs and then you can Realy have some fun

  • Hi Dave do you think these barrel adaptors can be made for 410 I`ve got one with a manufactured barrel at 12 " long -Maybe 410 / 22 or 410 / 270 that would be an all day fire arm .

  • @MrMrtiki 410/22 is no problem I am sure

  • @wildernessoutfitters The ony thing I was wondering after is my barrel length is only a foot long might not have as good of distance be like a hand gun maybe would`nt have a very long adaptor it`s good for a 3" casing so 4.5 . 5 " I should look into that what link to find him .

  • @wildernessoutfitters Never thought might be at the border -not sure if they`ll let come thru customs .

  • @MrMrtiki Hey he has a .410 spot on the site but it only goes up to .32. I bet thats cause .410 is allot smaller.

ill pm a direct link since youtube sucks!

  • @Snakedoctorjw I found the link thanks I`m going to look into it . buddy has a sport shop he`ll get a few .

  • These adapters are a great idea! I got the 20GA to 22LR and sent for the 20 to 9mm which should be arriving soon. I did notice tumbling at around 20 yards but still hit target. The first thing I looked for was rifling. Question; why can't the 3" length be rifled? Why must it be extended to 9" ?

  • I thought those adaptors were considered as weapons manufacturing. Just check the laws .

  • Nice! I agree with some of the other posters. Extended .357 would work great for me as this is my side arm. Thanks!

  • What is that green hooded thing you are wearing? It looks very warm.

  • nice shirt man...

    like this !

  • cool but in europe we are not allowed to have guns :(

  • since you oftenly fire slugs and rifle bullets out of your shotgun, i believe it would be a good idea to place slug type sights on it. I own a H&R Pardner 12Gauge for myself and i think of going on this modification too. Thought it is not equiped with a slug barrel, tha H&R shoots slugs in decent groups at 50 meters with a modified choke. I strongly believe that sights adding will make it even better, as aiming is a bit tricky with this gun due to the slope of the barrel where the chamber ends.

  • Is this CA legal? I wish I didnt have to ask!

  • Dave the 12 gauge it's the , no questins about theat . I thing the best combination its de 12 gauge with 22 adapter with a lenth og 45 cm for best hits . PS: sori for my englesh.

  • That was a pretty impressive group, for a gun with no sights. I think it would be a great thing to carry around. That makes that 12 gauge really versatile. Thanks.

  • Just wanted to say, Dave you are by far the best! you give so much to us from your heart, I Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, you don't have to do it but you do and God bless you brother! I look forward to the next video!

  • AWWW MAN.... I FOUND A NEW TOY lol

  • I'd think some ++P 9mm hollow point would kick Ass as a round out of that adapter.. with the longer barrel you should get some good power.. great video..

  • Very good

  • @wilderness O...dave thats pretty awesome i was out shopping today for a singleshot 12 ga found a couple within price range...i have a supercommanche as a sidearm (i like big) lol how soon do you think an adapter for 410/45LC will be?

  • @SirMidnightBravehear cheaperthandirt has that H&R for $115 new, but check the pawn shops, they also sell ammo for $10 a box

  • 10 mm auto..... or a .50 BMG round adapter for the 12 gauge would be sick!

  • @andrewsheldonreeves 10mm NO WAY i have a glock 29 in 10mm

the ammo is exspensive about 39-52 $ for 50 when you can find it i have to buy it online

75 cents a shot is too much

  • Very impressive! I was expecting it to shoot all over the place! Fantastic group! I'd be happy with that out of my rifle with a red dot on it!

  • Wow these adapters are cool. They even have one to convert 12 ga into 20 ga.Thanks for the info Dave.

  • Very cool

    Thanks Dave

  • too expensive.

  • oh yeah, the Baikal single is on sale for $99 @ big 5 sports for I don't know how long. Talk about a basic tough gun "bulletproof" as "some" like to say. I ordered mine another way in a multipul order so I wouldn't lose on shipping & ffl so it's actually cheaper, but I got a load of guns lol. Also got a 5" .22 auto pistol barrel cheap & might just "try this at home" lol though I need a machinist to pull it off

  • thats a pretty damn good group you have there with an adapter

  • nice, the only difference between 9mm & .357/.38 adapters is the case size. .357 would be nice, I think thats about minimum for deer, 9mm too small. I think more than $60 would be pushing the price point. Rifling is harder, but not that bad. You'd make more lower. A 410/.45 Colt would be nice. Multi use sizes like that = good idea

I actually bought a sawed off ERA 12 gauge with a cut off stock for $60 in anticipation of this, it was right there so ... lol Also have a Baikal 12 g single ordered

  • Would this shoot a .357? If not why not make a .357 one for it?

  • Very nice. Cant wait for my caliber of choice.

  • Fantastic Dave! Solid groupings with the adapter, too! Can't wait to see what other calibers are coming next!

  • Have they made the rifled adapter in anything besides 9mm yet and are they available yet?

  • @jaredsdroid they are available from gunadapters on the web.

  • i disagree with the commenter that says these are too expensive, rifling is a much more complex machining process than simply drilling a hole like the old ones were. more complex = more time = more money.

  • @27dcx

I completly agree, I bet he can cut the smothbore verisons out of round stock, and turns down rifled barrel blanks to make the rifled version, button, or cut rifiling is very difficult to do. without a complex jig or hammer forging on a rifled rod.

  • That is awesome. but too expensive now. they went from extremely reasonable to absolutely way over priced. seems like three times the product should be about three times the original price and be priced at $59.99 instead of $89.99. not to mention I cannot hunt with 9mm in my state legally so this is a plinking item at best. maybe if the 45colt/.410 is reasonably priced then I would buy it. MCA sports sells a 10 inch for 5 dollars more in 22 different calibers including rifle calibers.

  • @kcatto12 Too me I am not waiting 8-12 weeks for anything brother, that just means they make them to order, and they are in Alaska. Sorry you didnt win me over with that one, just lets me know that my guys prices are right and his delivery is better. Thanks for the info I needed to see that so I would know. Plus you can save 10% just by entering the coupon code making them about 80.00 and not 95.00 for 1" more length.

  • @wildernessoutfitters I will be buying them all as the budget will afford, I will make a pack to hold them all as needed

  • @wildernessoutfitters Hey brother have you seen the adapter that is offered for the flare gun to shoot 22lr and what is your opinion on packing a flare gun. Keep up the great videos and may God continue to Bless you and your family.

  • @kcatto12 Also they will be available in common calibers soon, 9mm is a very affordable and available cartridge.

  • @kcatto12

Well, if you had a lathe you could make one yourself. You need a piece of barrel though. What do barrel's cost in 9mm? Hmmm...maybe $50 for 24"? I made a 5 inch long H&R 20 gauge adapter in 45 auto, but I didn't accuracy test it. I sold it for $20.00 to a guy at Lejeune. Anyway, that was in 1978 as I recall. Stuff costs more now, and NO I'm not making them for sale on my lathe now. :) I AM designing a 22 insert that will work in a 375 H&H and a shotgun... for me.

  • @kcatto12 wow typical American can't wait for something worth waiting for

  • @shannonbtanner wow ... keep your bigoted crap in your own crap hole

  • @tblbaby I don't get it, what did they say wrong?

  • @bldeagle10 repeating bigoted mind conditioning media garbage propaganda as if it's real, against the people of the US. When you hear that "typical American" or any other group it's coming from a bigoted place. People shouldn't accept that crap & they should push back when they see that pea brained oppressive government conditioned mentality expressed. People should be free, but governments who want more control use propaganda to make those most free seem defective & many of their sheep buy it

  • @tblbaby ahh I gotcha now, I missed that comment of his.

  • Comment removed

  • @kcatto12 sorry wrong post...my appoligies

  • @kcatto12 I bet you can't find a 9mm for less than a $100 that is that accurate and light wait in your pack. Great product in my mind!

  • Now you need a .22 in a 12 to 20" barrel length.

  • Is there maintenance other than oil and brush? What's the material? Rust?

  • Nice group Dave, can you get an adapter in .223/5.56 MM or .308/7.62 MM? I seem to remember seeing adapters like those in the American Rifleman years ago.

    Joe Ritrovato

  • Dave-- now THAT kind of insert is much closer to what I have been talking about for years to anybody who would llisten :-). Kudos for making them !

Decent accuracy at 20 meters and I would bet that when you find the insert's sweet spot and figure out the sight placements, it will be good enough for small game to 40-50 meters or so. I still would have preferred a .357 but 9mm is really great for versatility and an easily available military round though. These things should fly off the shelf.

  • Nice, good point if one was carrying the 9mm as a side arm, plus the 12ga with various loads and the 9mm adapter would be a really good survival gun combo! Nice Dave!

  • That will also fire a .380 and a 9x18, right?

  • @kerrickbloodaxe barrel size is right but you need chambering for the right cases, though .38 special would fit in a .357 mag chambering

  • Man that was tight. At 50 yards looks about a 2" drop to compensate for? Not bad, still useful trajectory. I'm pretty sure a JHP would penetrate deep enough on smaller deer at 50 yards. With no rear sight to adjust on most shotguns, the rainbow trajectory limits the it's useful range. However if your side arm is 9mm then that the best choice. Buffalo Bore sells a +P+ that is on the heels of the .357 Sig, 124 Gold Dot @ 1,350fps in 4" barrel, vs. 1,450fps. .22RL and 9mm are the most common .

  • Brother, that was Awesome! Great shooting, and that adapter just add's to the versatility of an already great rifle. Thanks for the great video's. God bless.

  • Do you have to keep the adapter in the same orientation? In other words, will the accuracy change if you rotate the adapter inside the shotgun?

  • @liveunderwater It is a center fire cartidge bro

  • @liveunderwater

Accuracy, or group size shouldn't change, but point of impact (POI) could shift if the through hole isn't concentric with outside of insert. I imagine someone could make a mark on the end of the insert and then rotate it to different positions to get POI as close to Point Of Aim as possible.

  • @Nasedo375 thats the point I tried to make earlier. if rotating the insert in the reciever would change the aim point and if marking the insert to put in the reciever the same way each time would allow for more predictable and accurate first shots. not that 2 inches low-left at 30 feet is inaccurate for a pistol round

  • Waiting for mine....

  • Nice shootin!! Any plans for a extended length adapter in 38/357mag? I'd get one of those in a heartbeat!

  • @Edzherenow99 No need to etend 9" is plenty long but we are doing 38/357 soon

  • @Edzherenow99 No need to etend 9" is plenty long but we are doing 38/357 soon

  • @Edzherenow99 No need to etend 9" is plenty long but we are doing 38/357 soon

  • Excellent!

  • Hey the beard's coming back! Gonna grow it in again, Dave? P.S.- How did people shave in the woods (without Bics, of course)? Is there a way to keep it short, but not shave the hair totally off? I ask because I have a beard myself.

  • Keep it up, Dave!

  • much better design with the rifling, are you going to change up the 22lr as well?

  • @slowtaknow Working on it.

  • @wildernessoutfitters Ha ha ha... What exactly did ya use as comparrison when you measured the 9 in. insert ? Noticed ya lowered it out of view for the measurment. I figured you used your foot.... then noticed that sly grin. LOL

  • Dave did you index the insert to se if it changed point of impact. jimbo

  • @oldgravely It is a center fire cartidge brother?

  • yeah did you make that hoodie,i can't remember.looks sweet

  • do these work best in smooth bore or riffled barrels?

  • Dave how many trade shows to you attend a year, any up in the mass, Ct. area?

  • The accuracy is amazing!

  • Hey dave would you consider carrying the taurus judge 410/45 longcolt revolver as a sidearm? i figured you might be able to field load or muzzle load the gun.

  • @dahartman88 Pretty heavy brother, I would be more likley to carry a 22 with the M6 Scout, but generally go with the 21' rule and a SG

  • @dahartman88 Rossi makes a cool long gun called the circit judge that fires the same ammo as the Judge by Taurus, I'm in bear and mountian lion country and a hot loaded .45 with 5 shots just makes me feel better lol.

  • this is amazing! thanks again Dave!

  • I got the 12g to 410 and its great

  • nice .... adding this to my to get list!

  • one of those in .40 S&W or .45 Auto and you sold me on an Adapter and a single shotgun for truck.

  • That thing is cool I bet my Dad would like it I cant wait to tell him about it.

  • i seen you at the gun show but it look like u were busey

  • Pass on the nine and the 22's when you get a 30/30 rifled adapter then I'll get interested. As most of you know it has killed more deer than any other rifle to date. Put it with the 12 gauge then you got versatility. Good patterning with that adapter pretty impressive.

  • how about rifle caliber adaptors? 223 or 308?

  • Now THIS I am interested in! the 3" ones not so much but 9" adapter definitely has my attention cant wait to see what other calibers they come out with in the 9" one

  • Was looking at the Rossi kit, the single shot with 4 interchangeable barrels, but i might have to add a few of these to my shopping list now.

  • @vaelen19 For my money carrying a few adapters is lighter than 3-4 barrels

  • @vaelen19 I posted a comment about that issue on Dave's other adapter video. I have a Rossi 3 barrel set and some long inserts to fire .410 in the 20 ga.

My warning: the 3 piece set is a GREAT campsite combo, very versatile especially for Eastern and Northern woodlands. BUT when you have 3 barrels, the case, a small scope, the .410 adapter, 410 shot, 20 ga shot, 20 ga. slugs, both .243 and ,22 ammo-- it gets too heavy to carry all day on cross country hiking. Adapters are smaller and lighter.

  • Hey bro were missing the Dual Survival are yall having another season?

  • Dave Canterbury ur amazing. i live in Ohio too and i love the woodland areas out here. i love the show Dual Survival i wish to meet you someday. keep doin what you do cause i love seeing you do it

  • @blowgunhunting96 Thanks man, you should come to the Gathering you can find info on my web site.

  • @blowgunhunting96 Thanks man, you should come to the Gathering you can find info on my web site.

  • would love to see a 9 inch 22lr version of this.

  • @shtfgear Coming Next!

  • @shtfgear yea with the .22 centered and a center fire to rimfire plug f
