I use this generator to run a small window ac unit in my 16 foot camper and it works!.The ac unit is 900 watts and I bought it at the local hardware store. No loud generator again at a campground again to get cool! This is the quietest generator that you can have to run a small a/c unit by far.

right after he shut it off, lol. I have the Honda EU2000i and the inverter went out on it, guess what the replacement part is 675 dollars and Honda seems to remove any troubleshooting info on the net. Just try and find a online parts or service manual without having to pay more for it. I already bought the gen and should have rights to parts and repair manuals on the net. I am on an island in the Caribbean and can not just run out and buy parts at your recommended location.
@nrscmdvz while that is a diesel model, search you tube "Honda Generator Decibel Levels" -- it's hard to get / understand the absolute sound pressure level from a recording, it's easier to understand SPL using relative methods.
@nrscmdvz The Honda 1000 is the best and smallest generator you can buy and its know for how quiet it is. It is extremely quiet compared to other generators and that is what the poster was trying to show.
@IwesprayitI It is also pure sine wave generator - you can run computers off of it - NOT possible with most other power generators, which is not pure sine wave.
@WinterHaven Actually standard generators of decent quality run computers very well. The reason is that they are pure sine wave by nature (how the magnets on the rotor and stator interact) whereas most inverters are modified sine wave (unless specified as pure sine wave) The generators at the power plant that run your house (and all its electronics) are simply scaled up versions of a regular old generator set.
Example: When I ran my PC off of my Generac 4000XL in 2005 after several hurricanes, everything ran just fine with no changes in performance or anything. A while back I tried to run it off of an inverter I have (modified sine wave) it seemed to run ok, but the power supply made a strange noise. When I plugged it back into city power, the noise went away. I just don't trust inverters, which is why I am building a diesel generator set :D
@MrShawn305 Pure sine wave is the kind of electricity you get from a normal mains supply. The voltage goes smoothly from 0, up to 340V, down to -340V and back up to zero, 50 times per second (in Europe). Thus you get an average of 240V RMS. But whereas in the power station it comes straight out of the generator, it takes lots of expensive electronics to produce that sort of waveform from a DC source like a battery, hence the high price of pure sine wave inverters.
@MrShawn305 (continued) Now a modified sine wave inverter "imitates" a pure sine wave by basically using just three voltage levels (+340V, 0V and -340V). So the electronics are cheap and simple, but the waveform is practically square, instead of a smooth sweep, hence the loud buzzing noises coming from your electronics. It won't harm them though, because the laptop power supply filters the input so none of the jerkiness gets to the laptop. Look up the waveforms on google, you'll understand more
@nrscmdvz i no this is wayyy late but i have seen 3 of this model suitcase generator....and from what i saw and heard live and in person they are actually very quiet i dont no y this 1 seems so loud though
@nrscmdvz noise is all relative on video and I think it needs to be said that there are two settings for this machine. Full power and economy, the generator by the sound of it is currently on full power mode, which means it is quite loud, but not nearly as bad as those big site generators. On the economy mode the speed of the engine decreases by quite a bit . In actual fact, it could be running on your feet and you can hold a normal level conversation with no shouting
@nrscmdvz the part where the mic on the camera is pointet directly at the generator standing a few feet away ;P - and perhabs your volume on max? who knows!!?! ;)
ive been wanting to buy a suitcase diesel generator but the are hardly available like petrol ones. Any reason why and why they are more expensive than petrol suitcase generators
I dont think i have ever come accross a diesel suitcase generator. It would cost to much to make a tiny diesel engine, also it would have to be electric start because of the high compression. Now you have a battery as well in the case. It's getting bigger. Thanks
@MFMachineryUK need a starter for a diesel motor? to much compression to start by hand? im average build and165lbs and pull start diesel engines every day i work

Silent... it is not.

The noise output of this unit is less than non-inverter types but it is not quiet and certainly not silent.

I have this generator, and considering the fact that it is a generator, it is truly very quiet. 20 feet away it can barely be heard.
