@omarjamal58 If you want to get technical, Qur'an is held most correct, from the Arabic (القرآن), although Quran is thought acceptable as is Koran, which is considered the standard English translation. Your comment that I am just waiting for someone to figure it out for me is unjustifiably patronising. I have read a good deal of the Qur'an. If your faith is based upon reason then you should be able to offer me one reasonable argument as to why you believe what you do. I look forward to that.

Apart from the complete lack of evidence for God's existence, I find my objections to religion fall increasingly upon ethical grounds. Perhaps Christian's hypocrisy is their most valuable trait. As for your comparison with Holocaust deniers, many who support Rushdie's freedom also support the likes of David Irving to spew his nonsense.

@omarjamal58 If you want to get technical, Qur'an is held most correct, from the Arabic (القرآن), although Quran is thought acceptable as is Koran, which is considered the standard English translation. Your comment that I am just waiting for someone to figure it out for me is unjustifiably patronising. I have read a good deal of the Qur'an. If your faith is based upon reason then you should be able to offer me one reasonable argument as to why you believe what you do. I look forward to that.

The Big Bang, however, was not like an explosion of matter into empty space, rather, a rapid expansion of space and time itself. The Qur'an states that the sun and moon were created after the Earth (13:2-3, 78:12-13). Do you think that the sun runs its course to a settled place (36:38) and goes down into a muddy spring each night (18:86)? That doesn’t sound very scientifically accurate to me.
