@andrewbautista23 I gotta disagree. While Victor is generally more percussive he's really showing his melodic chops at the beginning of the video. The man can pull out some great melodies when he feels like it. Marcus is my favorite of the two though. Don't get me wrong on that. It's just that when he plays with Victor or with Stanley he usually ends up taking the bottom and just staying there and playing some of the most fat grooves you've ever heard. Which is why I like him so much.
@Dragonrocks Exactly this! He's the grooviest bass player I know of. It's just impossible how damn much it grooves^^ and that tone... when he's using finger style, it sound like me slapping, and when he's slapping, it's not comparable to anything :)
@Jaco2k Yeah I know, you can tell the difference between them in their tone. I was saying that Victor can pull out melodies just as well as Marcus or Stanley. Maybe I should've pointed out that Victor was the slightly muted tone and he was playing some amazing melodies when he first starts. When the man calms down and actually plays he's great. Otherwise it sounds just like noise to me and I used to listen to him constantly five years ago.
@rastanevarunaway Yessir, I remember getting this track on iTunes for only .99. Now, it's ONLY available if you buy Wooten's entire 'Live In America' CD from them.
I don't think I'll ever understand the appeal of solo bass. If I wanted to listen to melodic picking, I'd listen to a guitar player. Shouldn't the bass player be the one laying down the groove along with the drummer?
@jihadsoup Oh well, millions of people appreciate bass playing. Sorry you don't understand, but thanks for clicking on the video. Perhaps you should only access guitar vids in the future. Take care
@jihadsoup It's all good. I prefer Bassists that do more than play the same notes in the background and don't a desire to step to the fore to showcase improvisation, etc.
@jihadsoup And yes, it is ok for us, that is what is awesome about music, that you can fill all your tastes, some you liked, some you don´t. But my friend, the magic of a bass is what you just hear, you can be supporting the whole song along with the drums yeah or you can get a solid melody structure as well. So versatile, I really thing that you can appreciate a guitar doing what a guitar always do.

@jihadsoup bass has it's own timbre. guitar solos don't sound like bass solos, even if you play the same notes :D plus slap and pop isn't so cool on guitar...

If I want to hear melodic picking, I'd listen to guitar.
If I want to hear a full two-hand melody, I'd listen to piano.
If I want to listen to a beat, I'd listen to drums.
That's why guitar, piano, and drums are the only instruments in today's world, right?
