It's a new technology. You can drive 60 km on batteries only, and after that the fuel engine starts reloading the batteries. It means it is not a hybrid, because you are driving on batteries all the time. It is good because it doesn't have a range limit.

Its not electric, its a series hybrid that you can plug-in.
With all that lithium ion battery pack you would have expected more than 40 miles on electric. Even the EV1 did better than that!

exaclty only the NiMh battery have been proven to be good on the Toyota RAV EV wich hase over 120 miles range !
