now i'm confused, according to various wikis goldbrand does a base of 25 damage, I am level 22 and it only has a base of 18, and in this it has a base of 32?
im a pc oblivion gamer and i dont use mods and im thinking about moding but i dont want to go to the point where as i use a stupid mod like an extra race or stupid armor that does nothing but sit there and look "cute" or "sexylicious" as my gaming friends call it but more like extra quest lines or a were wolf mod or that midas stuff. i wanted to know if its worth it
I have only really gone so far as a FEW extra quests and weapon/armour mods... I dont really have much care for other races seeing as they usually wont let you get pass the opening scene seeing as the dark elf prisoner wont have anything to say to you.
Anyway, I havent really tried any game changing element mods like a were wolf mod so I cannot really help you out there.
There are 3 extra quests that come to mind that were worth the DL, one involving Advent Children characters complete with..
... the history of Cloud and a boss battle against Sephiorth in order to acheive the Tsurugi blade (I'm not a Final Fantasy fan but it was fun either way.)
A Dragon Lair quest...ish where you explore through a goblin army infested dungeon with a giant overpowered dragon boss at the end (I did a 2 part video on the quest.) and finally a quest called
The Castle of Night which is basically Castlevania, which is a bloodbath long and awesome dungeon castle crawl battle against vampire warriors...
The point of this rambling is, the 3 examples I explained are very obscure mods that I stumbled across by accident... then theres ones like the Pyramid Head Quest which are a little more well known.. but even Weapon mods can end up as quests as the creators tend to hide their weapons/armour in dungeons in game if not ones they make to cause a challenge like the Sauron Armour or Daedric Chainsaw.
They add more killtime to the game and a sense of acheivment in gaining the gear.
Heh, I'm not much for the staffs but the Wabbajack and the Greater Staff of Storms which basicly blows the entire area up with greater elecrtic damage which I use to have fun with when I grabbed it.
I also prefer the Unlocking Chest Staffs (if they are hard or very hard) and the Telekenesis staffs.
Yeah I have tried the staff. I didnt know there was a SI quest to get a spell form of it.. Pretty useful to know.
But on the PC version you can use the console to ressurect any dead characters near you anyway full and proper so it feels like a less of a priority. ^^
i've been thinking about making something new to try out, i've been thinking about making a pure spellcaster, with a shield to block eventually melee and ranged hits.
can it actually be possible to survive as a pure spellcaster, og do you HAVE to do something between a heavy fighter and a spellcaster? :)
until now i've tried a heavy melee fighter, and a stealth wood elf archer, so i wanted to try out something new
Its possible to play the game only using any 1 of the fighting styles.
In my opinion, the best 2 ways to survive through the game are either as a Spellcaster or a Warrior that uses spells on the side.
Although there are many nice melee weapons (especially when it comes down to mods) I feel that Spells are the best form of fighting in the game due to their nice range, especially Midas Mod.
If you learn good defensive/healing spells along with destruction and conjuration, you'll be fine.
now you're mentioning something about mods, and i dont use mods.. so can i still be a pure spellcaster when playing the game with the exact features that follows with the original game? :D
Intelligence obviousley determines/increases how much total MAGICKA you have.
And Willpower makes your Magicka regenerate faster.. I'm not sure if it increases the power of your spells though... That might fall under Intelligence.
Its called Laymato's Dragon Bow and this quest is started at the Shrine of Boethia.. Its in the north west moutains... I cant give exact directions though. :S

so,i have a little question everyone :b
i've been thinking about making something new to try out, i've been thinking about making a pure spellcaster, with a shield to block eventually melee and ranged hits.
can it actually be possible to survive as a pure spellcaster, og do you HAVE to do something between a heavy fighter and a spellcaster? :)

callofdutygamer000 3 years ago
My answer also applies to without mods.
Although I mentioned that mods are good all around to magic and melee...
My opinion stands for Normal Vanilla oblivion aswell, you will be fine with the original magic if you can build up a good defense.
The main skills i'd use would be:
RESTORATION
ILLUSION
DESTRUCTION
CONJURATION
They would be your best bets.
Just find a shield that wont entirley compromize your destruction casts but will endure melee attacks enough. Dont forget the healing spells!
Xoelaras 3 years ago
Thanks, lol i know completely about spellcasters, i've never really given it a thought about making one :D
Few last questions lol:
How about race and birthsign?
callofdutygamer000 3 years ago
hmm... It all comes down to Magicka really..
If you want to make a Cliche, Stereotypical magic character with LOTS of magic but low defenses then HIGH ELF race and THE APPRENTICE birth sign.
However the race dosent entireley matter, I would use a Breton personally cos I only like to play as Humans in video games... lol..
And the birthsigns that affect magicka are
THE WIZARD
THE APPRENTICE
THE ANTRONACH
I would go with The Wizard or Apprentice.. Antronach is a tad too extreme..
Xoelaras 3 years ago
I also suggest working on
INTELLGIENCE and WILLPOWER.
Intelligence obviousley determines/increases how much total MAGICKA you have.
And Willpower makes your Magicka regenerate faster.. I'm not sure if it increases the power of your spells though... That might fall under Intelligence.

cool, thank you very much, you rock :D

Its a PC mod so simply find Laymato's Dragon Bow. Thats the name of the mod.. It might either be at planetelderscrolls or Tesnexus.. if not both.
When you download it, The bow is for sale at A Fighting Chance in the IC Market.
