hi dj aoki, thanks for posting this vid. ive got the djm700 and all i want to do is control ableton via this mixer by using it as a midi controller. ive plugged my mixer into my soundcard (a cakewalk roland) ua-25-ex which is then plugged into my mac via usb. when i go to ableton midi/sync preferences its not listed as a control surface nor is there anything listed under ports. im a complete rookie and have no idea what to do to get it working. please help, many thanks.

if you were to take the Allen & Heath Xone 92 out of set up, would it change any of the wiring? Or is it just one less thing to set up on your computer? and if so, would you have to tweak the set up you showed for Ableton? sorry if any of those are stupid questions, I am very new to this stuff.

aoki could u try to tell me or make a diagram of how i would hook up a xone 4d with 2 cdj 2000's to serato and ableton.I want to get those pieces but i cant figure out how that setup would work in my head. If u could help explain it to me that would be great.Thanks

Why would anyone hook up a CDJ to serato? It is pretty stupid to do that, since you can play mp3's off a stick or burnt mp3 cd's/dvd?

@gaundful So that you can hook a midi controller to chop up beats live and incorporate live production. It might be too difficult for some mouth-breathers to understand, though.

Is it possible to run 1 numark V7 with Ableton to record my mixing? I'm just learning how to use the hardware but not enough people have the V7 to let me know what recording software to use. I have cubase but its too complicated and Ableton seems more user friendly.. Thanks if you could lend me some help lol

ehy cool setup but how would u do this with a djm800 i have similar setup 2 tecnics 1 denon cdj djm800 mixer and allen and heath 2d having troubles getting it all working

@Ris4rob Are you running both Serato and Ableton? If so, make sure you first have everything wired just like i have laid out in the wiring diagram in this video's description. Next make sure your ableton setups match

mine. 9 times out of 10, it's something not setup in Ableton. You need to use your xone:2d as an input/output device under the audio settings in the ableton preferences.

@djaoki Have you tried to mix out of serato to ableton or you just use ableton as a MIDI effects only? Because I'm curious to see if Ableton can midi sync the track on serato.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, you have both Serato and Ableton play from the same computer, right? You just use a split screen with an external monitor.

@cpnih You are correct on both points. Ableton is used as an effects unit. I amonly scratching the surface of what is capable with this setup. There is a way to midi sync ableton and serato perhaps through an external controller, buy I'm not sure how. In Ableton, I sometimes will route the audio channels to a midi channel, make sire the ableton tempo matches the serato tempo, then apply midi effects to the music.

I do only use one computer with dual monitors.
