There are very few shows in which ALL the main characters are likable for me. For example, in House, I love the characters but can't fucking STAND 13. In CSIMiami, the characters are great but the blond chick (forgot her name) pisses me off. But in Criminal Minds, the ENTIRE team is remarkable. The way they are developed, written, and how they act not only in terms of professionalism with each other but also as a family puts a smile on my face. With all of them together it makes a great show.

Hotch profiling his own team is so weird. He speaks about them as if they only have imperfections, like with Morgan, he says there are few people he trusts and so on. I think when he profiles Gideon, he talks about him as if he's some kind of social Reid, he knows so much about so many people.

I just found this show but I really love it. I love how all of the characters interact but still have their "thing" that keeps them different and this scene explains this so perfectly. I hate that the execs have gotten rid of JJ and are cutting back on Prentiss. It is going to destroy the show because their family dynamic is so great.

I love how Hotch profiles his team and defines their flaws while portraying them as characters of epic proportions. The writers did a damn good job in making it all believable cause of most of their backstory and character traits.

He nails the characters and when you watch you see that certain habits of theirs fit into the pattern. For example Morgan crosses his arms a lot, people who cross their arms are attempting to shield themselves from others. Whenever Reid is in a dangerous situations his mechanism for trying to get out of it is to talk his way out of it. Like in Minimal Loss episode and Revalations. The profile of the characters are consistent with their mannerisms and how they handle situations.

This is a huge part of why I Love the show its the characters. They are all interesting and distinct and yet they work together as a team. They all have skills that are important so while Hotch is in charge no character truly dominates. Its the most egalitarian grouping of so many people on one show that I've seen.

Neither is necessarily better than the others, it's more that they are simply very different people with differing personalities. The horror Hotch sees keeps him hardened, while with H, he seems to channel that determination for justice through his compassion as well. I think both are very admirable men.
