I was literally minutes from buying this game until I fully realized what Origin was. I cancelled my purchase 100% due to Origin. Congratulation EA's you've lost a customer! I have also told about 12 other people and due to Origin THEY have now decided not to buy it. Over $780 worth of sales down the toilet due to Origin.
Just a hint: If you download Battlefield 3 from a disk, you have to make an origin account which "downloads" it from Origin. It's really downloading it from the disk anyways, even if it takes a shitload longer time than it should. It took me two and a half hours to download it on a brand new computer running Windows 7 premium.
Side note: don't ever trust what the FAQ section says when it's answered by game employees. They make it sound better than it is. "Lightning fast download!" Bullshit.

@minecraftlulzar But consoles aren't customizable. You can't change any setting on your console for a game can you. Almost all console games are sub HD. NO AA. NO AF. Most console games run at 30 fps. And can dip down to about 15 fps. You have to remember patches are released for the pc first then consoles. That is why pc doesn't have as many glitches.

Did you check on what proper cpu and graphics card do you need to run a game? Did you check benchmarks on games? The PC is still powerful even for $500 if you know what you're doing.

If you have a card from Nvidia or AMD and a mobo that supports recent CPUs (people almost always have enough fast RAM so it's not really a problem) all you would really want to know is how [i]well[/i] your computer will run it. Even some of the aging cards like the nvidia gtx 200 series will be enough to play many games (though not on the highest gfx settings.) It's not much different from consoles.

EA origin is spyware, monitors every game installed, your ip/connection/macadresse/surveys/application installed/ usage. Webpages usage and chat activity. And they reserve the right to sell it to anyone interested.
EA has become the Nazi`s of gaming, shame on them. Read the eula and EA legal agreement to understand. I didnt even mention half of the atrocities.

@MeetMyMeatBE There was a case in Germany where a man had his bank details sold to third parties because he installed origin, also, many people have used application moniters and found origin snooping through incredibly sensitive files such as tax returns, photographs and even deleting some of their software. also if some sold you a game, but then you had to sign an agreement saying they COULD buttfuck you whenever they wanted, you wouldnt agree to it because they MAY NOT. right?

@The0riginalGamer The multiplayer isn't run on Steam servers, the servers are run by private corporations that have been given special powers by EA to do so. Those servers are then rented out to players or clans who manage them.

@mckboston69 I don't even think multiplayer will be play-able by people with cracks. You could use a keygen to mimic the algorithm used to validate cd-keys, but that won't work online. EA keeps tabs on all the cd-keys made legally. They need this info when you start playing on an EA game that requires you to log into an Origin account so they can link you with the key. Ultimately, fake keys won't work for online play. The only way to get to play the game online for free would be to

I think of torrenting in the way that it is commonly being used (for pirated software) as any other form of stealing. If I caught a person stealing EAs or Dice's money by doing this, of course I would kick the shit out of them. I DON'T LIKE STEALING, even against corporations. @sultankraver Again Piracy =/= stealing. Stealing is when you go to the store and steal a box of video game. But piracy is different, piracy is you're copying a disc without permission. When you find a game on torrent, you can download as many times as you want. there is no loss on anything. Let's say this, I legally have bf2 on steam, but let's say I don't want to have steam running. So if I download BF2 on torrent, would you say that I'm stealing even I own the copy? Think about it.

@sultankraver Well, here's the thing. If you buy a game from a retail store and when you open the box, you notice the cd broke and the store don't allow you return it, so you're fucked. The only option is you download a game off torrent and use the legit key that came out from the box. So again, I don't see how you say piracy is stealing even you have the legit key. There is no loss for the game industries.

@The0riginalGamer Do you even know what you're talking about? Steam isn't some magical software that protects the game, it's simply a CMS. Check your HDD and you'll still find all your games there, not hidden inside Steam. Origin is just EAs competition for digital sales. I hate torrents absolutely, but i know that it would still be possible to crack a game without Origin. Some a-hole will do some assembly patching and distribute it online for all the cheap mofos to download.

For those that don't know, Origin is basically just EA's service competing against Steam. If you already have an EA account, it is now an "Origin" account. That's it. No big deal really if you've played EA games where you had to log in with your account before.

This is why I prefer Console over PC, In the console you put the game, and it runs just like its suppose to, In PC you put the game and you might need to download some new software, your graphic card isnt good enough, you might get only a certain amount of downloads for a game or some other BS. This is why I prefer console. Of course its just my opinion and im not saying PC gaming is bad.

@minecraftlulzar But consoles aren't customizable. You can't change any setting on your console for a game can you. Almost all console games are sub HD. NO AA. NO AF. Most console games run at 30 fps. And can dip down to about 15 fps. You have to remember patches are released for the pc first then consoles. That is why pc doesn't have as many glitches.

Did you check on what proper cpu and graphics card do you need to run a game? Did you check benchmarks on games? The PC is still powerful even for $500 if you know what you're doing.

@minecraftlulzar That guy makes it sound like it's complicated playing on a PC, which it is not. If you have a card from Nvidia or AMD and a mobo that supports recent CPUs (people almost always have enough fast RAM so it's not really a problem) all you would really want to know is how [i]well[/i] your computer will run it. Even some of the aging cards like the nvidia gtx 200 series will be enough to play many games (though not on the highest gfx settings.) It's not much different from consoles.

@minecraftlulzar I care about graphics. A game can still be good without top-tier graphics (pre-ordered Red Orchestra 2 which is on Unreal 3 engine) but I would prefer it with them. There are a shit-ton of console gamers (not necessarily you in particular) who think that they get graphics almost on the same level as the hardcore PC gamers, arguing that the difference isn't that big. I just feel the assholish need to re-educate them.
