XD I can tell you've played this game too much. I'm total shit at this one, it's crazy how different future is (the one I grew up with, 100%ed it like 5 times and know it like the back of my hand)

They really need to make a new one. With the spray commands (they feel awesome to pull off) and spraying more than one can designs while on rails IMO

The noise tanks are my favorite group in this game, but i can't seem to unlock them. I can JET rank the first 3 benten-cho levels, the ones in chapter 1. But i can't even get a nitro in the benen-cho level when the golden rhinos take over. The best i can get it turbo D:

Then do what I do: rack up points!

The biggest factor in your rank is not speed, but how big your score is. The level you are having trouble with has a big score requirement to get the "Jet!" rank. You can pick a character with a high Grafitti stat to boost your score from tags (get like 5,000 from an X-Large for example).

You will also look to tricking off rails. You will notice that the longer you grind on objects, the more points you earn. So look for ways to keep the chain going.

You must earn a "Jet!" ranking on all story stages for that area. If you need to go back to a certain stage, you will need to finish the Story and get back up to that point.

i have the same question but for benten burning the song on the bowl stops after the first 142 seconds so i can't unlock goji or noise tanks or wait do you have to get a jet in chapter 1 for the noise tanks and chapter 2 for goji

There is also "De La Jet Set Radio" which is a UK version of the game.

The only real differences are the voices and some slight changes in the story.

Get the dreamcast for about 50 bucks from your local store.

Then download the iso for the jet grind radio, and burn it. It's one of the only game system that can boot burned game disks. And since it's not commercial anymore, it's legal.

Similar Plot. Well maybe not this one, but since JGR came before JSRF, the games share a lot of similarities. One of the main differences is in Spraying where you don't have to stop moving to spray big tags.

Good question. "Those high-tech Benten crazies"' special suits must be part of the reason. Arm extension, whistles, masks. Who knows!

If their Graffiti Level was High, they would have been the best character in the game to use. Usually, High Can counts mean way less scores on the graffiti. They are medium.
