For another tenner you could get a ViTrains 37 and its miles better than the Hornby one

I have the evening star but ive only got the standard controller does it work without the digital one or is it better to not use it and get the digital controller instead?

its dcc ready so will work on none dcc layouts. mines dcc fitted so runs on my digital layout.

if it works without the digital controller do i still need the insulation thing that goes over the dcc micro chip in the train?

no cos as ur using dc not dcc u dont have a chip in the loco so dont need insulation

ok but when i opened the box it has an isulation cover that has to go over it and all im asking is shud i put it on or run it without it on the standard controller

oo i 4got to say on the box it said dcc ready so does that change everthin?

it comes with an insulation sleeve incase u want to put a chip in it. as u dont u dont need the insulation. dcc ready means it will run with standard controller and needs no insulation as there is no chip in it.

I want to get the Railroad Evening Star the only problem id the detailing

Does it have Copper Pipes on the other side? Like the real thing

no the pipes are black. dont forget this is the railroad version so details like that will not be included. cant see y u cant paint them tho.

no i have the elite controller. used to have the select only use it for programming now.
