This recorder would be perfect - absolutely perfect - if it had a USB interface. Without it? It's not something I'd really seriously consider. It's baffling that Korg included that on their MR2 but overlooked it on the SOS.
If you could export the tracks "dry" as well as with the FX, this would be a REALLY handy little device. Anyone know if you can export without the FX? (Yes I know how unlikely this is, and how difficult it would be to engineer . . . ) I understand you can record dry . . . if you could monitor wet and record dry that would be very handy too . . . Just dreaming . . .
@degekkejoop DAW stands for digital audio workstation. It is a a specific computer program that runs into your computer. common DAW's are Logic, ProTools, Ableton etc
Is there any way to put, lets say a "2:10" .mp3 or .wav, into the micro mem card. I want to be able to record over tracks I made in FL Studio, so this would be a very important plus for me. Is it possible?

@kasperkr did it come with USB 2.0 cord? there should be a direct computer line on the device. If you do not have one you can pick them up on amazon for a good price (3-4 dollars shipping included). made sure you get the right input type though...
Question: Let's say I have a 30sec loop playing and I am recording a solo over it, the length of the solo turns out to be 2 min long: Will the SR1 save the solo in a 2 min wav file or will it split it into four 30sec files (just like the length of the loop)? I need to have the possibility of the loop playing while recording a longer track over it, without it being split into files equaling the length of the loop.
This thing is the start of a revolution, It's the future. Zoom, Tascam and Sony will be thinking "oh sheet, we never thought of that" making audio tracks into a database and summing them into a "sound on sound" update-able mix is so obvious that it was in everyones blind-spot. For under £200 - I am definitely getting one of these. Even if those drums are vile and I will never use a guitar input. I'm going to buy this piece of history.
I haven't seen anyone do vocals w/ it yet. Can you also lay down an acoustic guitar track and vocal track together. This thing is going to be great for recording/ practicing so I don't have to boot up Pro Tools every time I get an idea practicing. Trying to record w/ a new baby in the house has its challenges as well.
Who else thinks this guy does the soundtrack for all the sonic games?
Also this thing seems a little too geared toward guitar for my taste.
I don't know what self-respecting musician thinks it's a good idea to put pre-recorded drums on their track and having multiple sections on the thing for onboard effects and loops seems like it's taking up space that could have been used to put in something that appeals to all musicians.
That was a good presentation. I am guessing you cant undo once you have committed to a track ? Say, you cant go back and delete the bass part on the SOS ? Its stuck in the overdub mix ?
I know you can manipulate all the wavs separately later in the DAW
Got one didnt work all right everyone makes mistakes no worries..Then called customer service they didnt know there arse from a hole in the ground, Then they told me hey man its 4:55 we are done. You wanna call back tommorrow. Ummm i don think so mate and im taking it back so rock on Korg!

i bought the sos, the manual tells me everything it can do but doesn't tell me how to do it. This could be really cool if I knew how to use it. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to record a song, each part drums, guitar and bass. When i attempt this and play back the drums I cannot hear the guitar to record it etc. etc. need help!!!
why dont they ever show us how the microphone picks things up... if you are going to plug in with wires they youll might aswell use the multitrack or whatever you normally use... who in the world would carry a guitar a bass, a microphone the sos and all the leads required in their pocket,,, noone exactly... and why the hell make the microphon input a sall connection...
i like this for the idea of jotting down ideas for song writers with acoustic guitars..
External speaker volume is poor, and no USB port....so bring headphones and buy a USB Card Reader Adapter. I do like the device as it's straight forward to use....Hopefully SOS 2.0 will probably have some improvements.
Great review! Question: If I were to use the stereo input on the SOS to record 2 separate audio sources (kick drum mic and overhead, for example, panned hard left and right) would I then be able to extract those as 2 separate tracks in my DAW? Thanks in advance. GREAT sounding product!
The A/B Loop function can repeatedly play back a specified section of the song a great way to practice your instrument or build up your song. In addition, you can even record while looping, creating results similar to a looper effect.
@KorgUSAVideos While it is possible I misinterpreted the question, the "single track" seemed to indicate that they were wanting to loop a single track while overdubbing in another. The Korg SR1 does not have playback tracks,so it is not possible to solo your bass track, loop it, and record guitar on another. It is also not possible to loop a 4-bar beat while recording endlessly on top of it.
@KorgUSAVideos Great. CAN you record a vocal and guitar input at he same time while hearing guitar effects in the phones? Even if the BWF waves are mono or L & R . This seems intuitively desirable for the singer songwriter. Of course the BWFs being dry is also desirable.
How come I can't find one of these things?

@bolnn66 You need to disable the REC "ON" in the Rhythm page after recording the rhythm, otherwise you will not hear the other modeling effects.

Not possible, there are no tracks. It overdubs to a single track while also saving the individual overdubs as .wav files for future import.
