  • NO WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY ! Camtasia Studio 7 is waayyyy better than screenflow. It has an

awesome quality! It has lots of apps. It can edit video..Its totally awesome. My laptop is mac I downloaded screenflow in my laptop..and thats not so good. Well its all abt your choice.

  • @winnersofchampions it's only for mac!

  • 3:54 lol "Windows Splawtlite" hahaha I live your accent! No homo!

  • carai os comentarios é tudo em outra lingua porra

  • I like is accent

  • use snapz pro

  • I bet all the mac's are saying screenflow is the best

And the windows people are saying camtasia is the best

  • Guys he don't use Screenflow or Camtasia Studio 7 to record this video just Screenium!

  • Very useful. Nicely done. Thanks.

  • arse site?? 1:30

  • Does screenflow work with Mac? By the way very well done

  • what can i record "Amnesia" with? Screenflow didnt work so well ...

  • Dude you are one the coolest hosts and the way you compare is very, very well done.

  • @dgtronic try hitting alt+tab and then release to see if it brings you to your game. It's cmd+tab for mac :)

  • I have screen flow and love it, but I have a problem. I have a game called FlatOut2 that I love and every time I try recording the game I play all screenflow records is

black !!! what am I doing wrong? I have the latest version of screenflow

  • why is my screen is all black?

  • Only bad thing about camtasia it doesnt let you disable your cursor like when you record minecraft you can see the cursor

  • run forest run!! :D

  • I need to get a playable copy (file) of one of my dvds to be on my desktop for editing purposes. Mac Quicktime screen recording doesnt let you record dvd media (gives you a grey box) when you use it during dvd player. Handbrake had laggy video quaility. Would screen Flow be a better option to use for recording dvd player (video quality purposes)? Sound Quality is not necessary/relevant (its a silent video anyways). Thank you whoever!

  • well.. here are the best screen recorder I ever used, Youtube,

    Frontcam, it's tiny and flexible

Screen Recorder Gold, it is fast and fully featured

    serial: ###W-YT40-T&#%

Mandsoft Demoshop a very powerful and support editing screencast.

  • Good vid! Very professional!

  • Very helpful, thanks

  • how do i transfer my videos to youtube with ScreenFlow in HD ????

  • @BrownNNerdy I wanna know also :S thats why I came here

  • Why u don't just use YouTube downloader to save YouTube videos.

  • making gaming video's i need a screen capture, whats better screenflow of camtasia?

  • @3v1lpl0x I would say camtasia. I've personally used both and they both have their perks but for gameplay I use camtasia (.....minecraft recording XD)

  • @3v1lpl0x Fraps

  • Sony Vegas Pro 10 for free? No problem, check my channel!

  • yeehaw

  • YOU SOUND LIKE FOREST GUMP :D

  • @GraphiCentral Now don't y'all make fun of southern accents.

  • @GraphiCentral LOL...

  • @GraphiCentral I almost cried when Forest saw his son, asked if he was dumb.

  • *cries*

  • why not just imovie edit it...

  • @DarKn0ObXD because u have to render the video out from camtasia and screenflow then render when ur done with imovie (or final cut/after effects/sony vegas whatever you use) and double render lowers the quality

  • Screenflow beats camtasia because you can not sacrifice smoothness for audio but you can sacrifice audio for smoothness

  • amish paradise

  • I got Mac, and I record. Can you Pause the during the record, so u can make a PvP Vid on WoW? etc.: I start record, killing someone, Pause record, and then start record again, and kill someone else. Can u do that?

  • Sing 8 octaves on the piano :D

  • Has camtasia improved on cpu and video recording in its upgrades since this video was recorded?

  • whats better for recording gameplay?

  • @itouchfingerboarder screenflow

  • Thank you for this video. I have been using Screenflow and I love it, however I will also get Camtasia's capture just to make sure I can get all those effects as well. Thanks this really helps me to decide on BOTH! :)

  • Heya there HILLBILLY! :)

  • AH SAGHT CAMERA!

  • I say... Snapz Pro x!

  • Great Video I love it. But ? Why don't you just Download Youtube Videos I does it all the time when I just need to learn somethings. it takes be about 3 to 4 min to do so.

  • @gatlinproduction : what a retard comment! People use it for recording your own screen, which is not at Youtube. You do this screen recording for tutorial, documentation, etc.

  • which is better for gaming?

  • @stavyros I have only tested them both on minecraft, but camtasia seems to do better!

  • @stavyros Screen flow would be better for gaming.

  • thanks

this is really nice review, i was just about searching for the best one.

what do you recommend personally? games and video in capture!

    thanks

  • So if i want to record games, like WoW, Minecraft. I want Screenflow, Camtasia when i do like tutorials?

  • aaaa sssat... (:

  • Totally can't convert the stupid flash file Camtasia comes with.

I could do it on the PC though so :/

    :(

  • what are you using?

  • @laylomacias He using Screenflow amigo :))

  • I want to know what he is using to record this and does the full 99$ screenflow get rid of that thing that says SCREENFLOW?

  • Your accent makes me laugh! No offense or anything though, all of my family in Louisiana have the same accent.

  • HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE SPEED OF THE VIDEO IN CAMTASIA

  • +1 for screenflow, Audio won't distort if you don't do anything stupid

  • @NightmaresBeginning it's not Apple's fault it's Camtasia's That's like saying- haha GarageBand has been included with OS X for 7 years, way to keep up, MS

  • LOL! PC users have had Camtasia Studio for about 7 years. Way to keep up Apple!

  • What is the first movie you showed on camtasia

  • Thank you for this.. This helped me a lot..

  • hi, i just send you a message in your inbox regarding how to record hd video (360p also look clear). please reply me. thank.

  • i found best video tutorial for Capture Video Screen

    capturevideoscreenָcom

    Awsome Tutorial

    I just Wana Help

    Enjoy In Your Life!

  • ***IMPORTANT***

How do you speed up your videos on Camtasia, the Mac version.

  • camtasia+screenflow+Machine Gun-Screenflow=Funeral Camtasia kicks its ass idc what you say

  • lmao u got old camtasia new ones awesome

  • Hey AppleSoldier, what country do you live in because I think I recognize that accent.

  • great video thank you

  • Apple soldier, What's the name or url of the theme you have on your mac desktop?

  • did you use camtasia or screenflow to record and edit this?

  • You sound so Texan.

  • I need help: I`m making a template tutorial for Gimp. Seems like everyone says to make it in short clips to edit.

I export them to mov, but when I put them all together, in Camtasia and export again to upload to YouTube, the video is too blurry to use, even in HD. &

I can`t seem to load all the short cmproj clips together in Camtasia to make 1 final export.

What am I doing wrong?/What is your process for editing short clips and combining for upload to youTube?

Is kbits to 2500 the answer?

  • You mean, hardly "any " choppyness

  • Just wondering where I can get a copy of the computer wallpaper shown in this video?

  • Because we always just sit there scrubbing the timeline

  • com/watch?v=BOWIlQUesjk

  • So brasileiro pora

  • Camtasia vs VirtualDub: com/watch?v=yYJjRMbbTqc

  • asagh camera :)

  • did you record this video with camtasia or screenflow

  • how to download screenflow?

  • how did you make these 3 dots under the programs?

  • I have screenflow and I just decided to go with boot camp to run my 2 favorite windows programs sony vegas and Fl Studio I want to know how do I still use screenflow to record my mac screen and my windows screen? I tried VMware fusion but hated that my windows would lag too much and I had problems with it only thing I liked was I could do a tutorial in sony vegas and still show my mac desktop but now I have boot camp and it works differently and it is hard to switch without restarting.

  • i like ur accent

  • what camtasia version did you use?

I have version 6 and it sucks shit! And it wayyy different than yours!

  • watch my video on how to get screen flow FREE the new screenflow..

  • Great job!

  • Thanks for this. I have been using the demo of Screenflick, but have major problems with the audio doubling and dragging. You mention that screenflow also has audio issues. What do u recommend for capturing movies? I'd spend $30 if something worked properly, but won't if it doesn't.

  • Very nice tutorial !

  • How do i make my clips go 2x faster? please i need to know

  • @Wroting export the clip and import it into iMovie. Double click on your clip, this will make the inspector pop out. Below the Video Effects section of your clip, you can change the speed. If there is no option to change the speed, then click the process video thing that will allow you to change the speed. I don't know how to change the clip speed with Screenflow.

  • So CamStudio is for PC? if it is does it have Quicktime output?

  • What's the link to this one? :)

  • Thanks for the review and comparison-- very useful. I've been using ScreenFlow for a couple years, and have liked it. But I really need .flv or .swf video export-- and it's built right in to Camtasia.

  • In Camtasia for Windows, you can export the video directly to AVI, and it takes only a few seconds on my computer.

  • awesome accent lol

  • lol seriously

  • it;s only apply on mac

    or windows will ok

  • how do u split ur dock

  • @07Reventon Use a free app called DockDoctor.

  • @serfox1 or superdocker

  • so for you screenflow is much better than camtasia?

    let me why please

  • I love that interface. Nice and dark.

  • do ether of them cost anything

    cos ouicktimes one is free

  • screenflow is $99 and camtasia is $99. the quicktime screen capture quality isnt very good compared to screenflow and camtasia ;)

  • @liverpoolyf So what you saying ?

the screenflow is better than camtasia?

please let me because i'm buying tomorrow so really know which one to buy...

well i do have PC and MAC but i already have on my pc....

    i'll appreciate

  • 5 Stars for for this great review! I used Camtasia on the PC and now have a MacBook Pro. I will give ScreenFlow a try after watching your video. BTW, where can I get that cool desktop background from? :)

  • thx!

  • FYI. Did you know that Screenflow will not record a google earth tour without pixelating it. Camtasia dos a better job but still stutters a bit.

  • Not related to capturing software, but just wondering, how did you group your icons in your dock (on the bottom)? I'd like to do the same, do you have a video on how to do that?

    Cheers,

    -TT

  • @TornadoTwins click on the finder or the hardisk, search for the name of screenflow and drag the icon to the dock

  • lol nice accent..."you got your little ah-sight camera, right herrr"

  • iv been dying to find out where u get screenflow or camtasia im new to imac

  • Thanks for a terrific review. I just switched to mac and have been using Camtasia for screencasts for quite some time so this was really helpful.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  • I hear Screenflow 2.0 is quite good, perhaps even better now than Camtasia .

    Good review btw

  • why is your mac so different?

  • thanks, Eric!! loved the video. I just wish Camtasia Mac would allow us to hide the cursor... I prefer Ambrosia's Snapz Pro X.. but will now be trying ScreenFlow.

  • Cowboy accent

  • love it!

  • Well i dont xddd

  • this is great because unlike his mac vs pc videos, hes not bias in this video

  • Thanks for your comprehensive view on these two because I really wasn't sure on which one I wanted, but you cleared it right up. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

  • Thanks. This helps me (a little) towards deciding who gets my 99 bucks. Funnily, I found, testing it out, that Screenflow blurred on fast window scrolling but Camtasia didn't. The opposite of what you say. But there's the consideration that buying SF gets you a free update to Ver 2 when it comes out plus Flip4Mac Studio thrown in. Mmmm . . .

  • when exporting make sure and use Best pass meaning dual pass. Not fastest pass meaning single pass. It should clear it right up. and set the kbits to 2500

  • As always a very good demo video I too have both and have only used camtaisa once for a quick video demo it's was fast and very good video. Aslo I think camtaisa uploads faster to YouTube.

    Rome

    A fan

  • good stuff, thanks

  • help please

  • i have a problem my screen moves when i move my mouse someone olease rply

  • Yes But Screen Flow Have Calluts

  • hey can you tell me something if i make a video on camtasia can i join it to screenflow coz thats whats making me confused plus i need to make lots of good

    Runescape Vids lol

  • Was very helpful review and analyzation

    Thanks

  • Camtasia isn't new, it's just new to mac users lol.

  • Great review for both of these AWESOME products, but how do these two programs compare to Final Cut Studio? I've heard good things about it & I was wondering what you thought!

    5 STARS!

  • The two progerams are screen capture program not video editing programs.

Camtasia Studio can do some minor video editing but it is nothing like FCP or Premeire Pro.

FCS does not have screen capture software as far as I know.

I can edit Camtasia files on PC using Premiere Pro.

  • This video has some good.

Why don't you edit using FCP?

I edit Camatasia clips on the PC with Premiere Pro.

  • Eric - great comparison. I look forward to hearing the rematch when Screenflow 2.0 comes out in the near future.

  • Nice overview. Looking forward for your review once you start using it.

  • I wish Camtasia was $100 on PC side, although you do get several features on PC side that are not in the Mac version. The PC version should be like $149 at the most, just doesn't seem like from what I've seen that it's worth the $299 for it. It does preform quite well and video quality is excellent.

  • the PC version costs so much because it has spyware in it. PC drools mac rules.

  • Macrulestehcool, I'm not sure why I'm even responding, clearly your "PC drools Mac Rules" statement pre-dawn's adolescence. You struggle to even complete a full sentence. If you would of made a more logical and thoughtful response I may of had a better response, but you prove that there are mactards out there that don't have a lick of sense or respect.

  • I am just joking. Take what I said about Camstasia with a grain of sand. Camtasia is great for Windows, it may cost more because its one of the best for Windows machines. Never crashed once in Windows. Debut, Snagit, Camstudio can do the job, but not as good as Camtasia.

The Mac version has to compete with Screenflow, that is why it is cheaper.

  • Macrulestehcool, I can't determine by text that you were joking, perhaps you should say that you are joking for which I'll understand. I do crack jokes about certain subjects, however I try to make clear that I was joking. I see you responded back with more maturity and logic for which I am relieved. I apologize to you for my past response/comment. I see you know more than the average Mac fanatical about software and can hold a conversation without insults. Nice to hear.

  • where the fuck did you hear that it has spyware in it?

  • It does not, just being sarcastic.

  • cool vid.

Apple uses Screen Flow for their tutorials.

  • Camtasia looks like iMovie and Garageband threw up all over Screenflow and kicked it around a little bit. From the preview video I saw I wasn't impressed with the Software. I may get the demo? But I doubt it.

Im happy with Screenflow and I eagerly await the new version coming in September, cannot wait for the new enhancements and effects.

  • Thanks again. I don't think the good people at screenflow should worry.

  • Keep in mind that ScreenFlow 2 will be out in a few weeks (September). That demo was with ScreenFlow 1.5. SF 2 is going to improve many things and it'll have things Camtasia doesn't. Either the presentation or I was a bit confused at the end. ScreenFlow uses LESS CPU than Camtasia (you said in the beginning) so you'd want ScreenFlow if you need CPU cycles elsewhere.

  • do you have 10.6? as it looks like you do

  • On the laggy stuff, does that translate to the exported vid, or just the timeline? Obviously nice for editing and that matters, but the finished product is what's key.

  • it exports that way also. if exports exactly what you see in the canvas. But dont get me wrong. You can only tell when capturing full motion video. As far as tutorials and stuff you wont be able to tell. My next vid is done with camtasia, youll se.

  • Bottom line: Mac screen-recording programs are much better than Windows'

  • Still talking shite i see darious, nice to see things don't change and you're still as brain washed as ever :)

  • What, Camtasia Studio IS the best screen recording software for Windows. The Mac version is better, plus there's no Screenflow for Windows. You're stuck with Camtasia.

  • Yeah sorry i forgot, camtasia is the only choice out there, unlike the mac platform we're not stuck to about 3 choices of screen recording software.

As for camtasia, you do realise that its updated regularly enough and anything the mac version gets the windows version will progably get in the next update.

  • I'm not talking about the number of choices, I'm talking about the number of GOOD choices. Are you telling me that there really is something worth considering except for Camtasia? And no, CamStudio, Hypercam and the other BS doesn't count

For now, Camtasia for Mac is better. In any case, you can't use Screenflow, which surely is a disadvantage, isn't it?

  • they both have things the other dont. and mac has tons of screencapture apps. Screenflick, screenium, ishowu, ishowuHD, screenflow, screen mimic, screenography, Snapz pro X. They are tons.

  • Screenflow also has the advantage of Core Animation, Quartz Composer and a custom 64-bit ENABLED COMPRESSION SYSTEM, ScreenFlow can capture DVD playback flawless as well as 3-D game playback. win apps SUCK!!!

  • Your point? I can record games or dvd's if i want with fraps with no lag in the playback, i can even set the framerate i want. You might want to invest in a version of fraps and run it in boot camp, we all know how you like your dodgy dvd's. :)

  • Fraps sucks.

  • indeed. until they can find a way to utilize quad cores to improve compression, i am staying away.

  • most programs are better on mac

  • ScreenFlow + Final Cut = Best value.

  • i hope screenflow brings some of these to the new version. this is a stout competitor

  • aso r u going to use camtasia for ur videos nor just screenflow?

  • Thanks for explaining.

  • Thanks for the insight.

  • ScreenFlow needs an upload to YouTube button.

  • screenflow 2 will have it as well as effectss and speed changes

  • camtasia rules.

  • What I don't get is why the Windows version of Camtasia Studio is $200 more than the mac version... also, the interface looks a LOT better in the mac version.
