I have visited Botswana and saw some of the most smiling happy faces I have seen on earth. I am an atheist so have no need to believe in a God - the natural beauty of the people and their hard work are what is important.
Thanks for uploading this, it's great to hear the different styles/methods of music in Botswana. I came across the No 1. Ladies' Detective Agency on Sky TV when I was babysitting recently, I really liked it - but I don't have Sky TV at home, and I can't see any other episodes on Youtube. I read one of the books about 5 years ago.
In episode 1 (the one with the twin dentists) there is a song at about 23 minutes from the beginning, when Precious has to turn over at the border because she does not have her passport on her. Does anybody know who is the band and singer of this song? Thanks!
I want to go back to the home from which I've never been too. I long to go back to my home from which I was taken from! I love to hear Africans speak English, it sounds so pretty. I think they speak better than Americans. I love to hear African women sing, their voices are so pure, and I love to see my tribal dancers and their ballet!
Oh I read some of the books already and I am absolutely in love with it! The series started recently to air here in Sweden and I always wait eagerly for it to start.
Oh, I wish to see Botswana with my own eyes someday!
I use to watch this show every sunday with my boyfriend who is from Zimbabwe. He says the show reminds him of home. I really wish to visit Africa someday...my motherland!
Well, said, Rainy. I am an American in my heart, but I have room for more than one country in my soul. Africa has suffered a lot of violence and illness, but it is still a beautiful, wild, incredible place and Botswana in particular is one of my favorite countries there. I love, in the stories, the idea of the Botswana Morality, and the idea that so many people still hold onto that. I want to teach the Botswana Morality to my children someday.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. All the musicians, singers and dancers were fiyah! That first guy playing the 4 string guitar, practically upside down was amazing to watch. I wish I had tv service. Gonna have to look for this show on dvd. Thanks for posting it.
holahola Ke rata my country wish i love my Land. Live in silly germany but my heart will always be true to my Gae. Botswana i´m coming home coming home to all the sweet nice life. Where u dont have to worri tht someone might bomb ur house or u might meet a racist
I love my country Canada but have always felt a magnetic pull toward Africa. These musicians and this show draw me closer to this dream. It is fresh and it is the beat of the heart of God. thank you, L.
My friend....it was also my dream for so long. I threw caution to the wind and went in 2003 for the first time....first to Jo'burg. Been to Africa now 3 times. West Africa was mind blowing. Wow. and it is true what everyone says Africa gets under your skin and in your veins.....!!! If you travel off season you can get return flights really economically. You will never be disappointed. It really helps to know a local or travel with a national.
Botswana! The spirit of this amazing country flows in my veins man! I breath comfortably when I'm here! Yes Jill, it's fresh! There is no other word for it!
wow it looks like we're enlightened about Africa, when its only a case of one country... impressive. looks like we still sinkin 50 deep in the abyss of knowledge and geography.. hypocrites, shame on you!
I am hooked I try not to miss not 1 episode I love Jill's Music and I've attended 2 of her Live Concerts and the show on HBO just shows that Ms Scott is a down to earth true actress and great at whatever she puts her heart an soul into.
These snippets of amazing quality just show that if you have talent you do not need a lot to produce extraordinarily brilliant music! Just love it! Thank you Jill! Botswana loves you!
on episode 3 they had the Mogwana Dance troup ( I knew they would be in there at some point lol) . they can dance the hell out of any those traditional beats.I have no idea how mnay times I plaed that portion of the show on my pc.tis SICK!!
They brought it to America to get Botswana more exposure. It's a good idea that they did so that it opens more doors for people coming to visit and film in Botswana. Before South Africa was getting most of the visitors.
I agree, they're both really good. It's really hard to find Ndingo Johwa's stuff online, and it's impossible to find anything of Stampore's anywhere. Kind of a shame, really.
I absolutley love Stampore and Ndingo from this video. All of the featured artists are talented of course, but the songs showed by those two are simply amazing.
I also want to know about the soundtrack used in this series! I c I'm not the only one looking for it ;)
