  • What about "Poor Unfortunate Souls"? Didn't you think that was a kick-ass villain song?

  • Beauty and the Beast is just as dysfunctional as some of the aspects of LIttle Mermaid. Think Stockholm syndrome. I like Ariel, though yes she acts rashly. Her relationship with her dad is more complicated than you give credit and drives the plot quite a lot. The story depends on the viewer assuming things like "love at first sight" are reasonable based on a Disney history of such stories. Also Esmeralda IS a super badass character who doesn't get enough credit if any at all for being awesome.

  • Oh, and Disney movies such as this are a good reason why parents should watch TV with their kids and discuss the difference between right and wrong.

  • Also, loving father? Yes, I suppose it's true he did love her, but at an age where you are TRYING to become an independent adult he is EXTREMELY controlling, has his subjects follow her and spy on her, and when she goes against his will he destroys her collection in a fit of rage. He may have loved her, but that doesn’t make him a good father.

  • I can see all the points you are making, but I think you are taking this movie WAY to seriously. This review reminds me of a review I saw for Beauty and the Beast (2nd favorite Disney movie) that said it taught young girls to "fix" abusive, controlling, and bipolar men. I had that movie memorized and I did not marry an abusive, controlling or bipolar man. I would be really interested to hear a review on the Jungle Book. Talk about whinny and ungrateful.

  • @centary2004

Well, he's not talking about all fans. He's talking about the more impressionable fans.

BTW, just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it's not educational or shouldn't be educational.

  • I can't help but agree with every single point apart from one: not all the songs sucked. Okay, a lot of them sucked. But Poor Unfortunate Souls has got to be one of the best villain songs in all of Disneydom so I wish that got more of a mention

  • I have a question: What do you think is a more disturbing plot for a children's film?

    A) A plot about a talking dog that has to redeem himself of his life as a criminal, as well as defending a helpless child from Satan and his minions?

    B) A plot about a rich valley girl who stalks a hot guy and gets really posessive and co-dependant on him, so co-dependant to the point where she want him to change her dirty napkins? Oh, and this relationship is romanticized in the story as well.

  • @LeonSKennedy828

Yeppers. IMO, it's better than The Little Mermaid.

  • @LeonSKennedy828

Oh, okay. I just get genres confused sometimes. Thanks for the correction.

  • @GueiGirl No worries, it's a common mistake, just thought it needed addressing is all.

In regards to the comment actually, it's odd, I saw All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 as a kid, but not the original.

  • You want an honest opinion congrats on finding the main inspiration of the twilight saga. in all I love it keep working at also I noticed disney hasn't done much with the mermaid thing in a while

  • @Cutup663

Ariel is to mermaids as Edward Cullen is to vampires I say. I support non-Disney, non-stalker and non-posessive mermaids myself.

  • @GueiGirl 1 duh and 2 wow you just found darkproxy

  • @Cutup663

You know DarkProxy? I get along with him on dA.

And believe it or not, people found plot A more disturbing than plot B. I always perfered Bluth over Disney anyways.

  • @GueiGirl yes it is me.

  • @Cutup663

Oh hi. Good to see you here *shakes hands*

Just in case you were wondering, plot A is "All Dogs go to Heaven" by Don Bluth and we all know what plot B is. I'm just shocked that people boycotted All Dogs go to Heaven for dark and so-called "sacreligious" subject matter, yet no one boycotts stories that glorify abusive and controlling relationships. I perfer a good vs evil story over a "mush mush flirt flirt" story.

  • @GueiGirl I like be also I have a feeling that prince Eric just married a woman that will probablyu poison him for speaking to another woman

  • @Cutup663

    I wouldn't be surprised.

  • amen man in all it is the precusor to twilight. I can't stand how everyone is so fine with this brat i mean it shows girls that abusing your father's affection

  • amen man in all it is the precusor to twilight. I can't stand how everyone is so fine with this brat

  • Oh, another reason why I don't like TLM is that it ruined mermaid lore for almost everyone. I still remember the old tales of mermaids being seductive and super colorful vixens with monstrous features and their little charm spells they cast on anything that they were enchanted with.

Then Disney came along and turned mermaids into generic humans with fishtails stuck to them. I still remember the old fin eared odd skin and hair color mermaids of the past. They were the best.

  • @GueiGirl

Oh, and another thing, in some legends, if you anger or displease a mermaid, she will be merciless and pulverize you to a bloody pulp. In other legends, eating mermaid meat or bathing in mermaid blood makes you immortal. It's just sad I'm one of the few people that remembers real mermaids of legend before Disney tainted them.

To me, Ariel is to mermaids as Edward Cullen is to vampires. Get the drift?

  • @GueiGirl Thats because the so called "mermaids" columbus saw were actually manitees...

  • @demondog45

Actually, I'm talking about mermaids of past storytelling, folkore and mythology prior to TLM being released, not the manatees and seals that columbus saw. I knew those so called mermaids were seals and manatees.

But if you actually read mythological tales or folklore about mermaids, they're nothing like the ones in Disney movies.

  • I actually liked this movie when I was younger and still like it today, but i do agree that ariel can be a selfish bitch at times, but the movie did have it's funny moments like sebastian the crab being chased by Chef louie, the first movie was somewhat decent in my opinion, but the godawful sequel was absolutely terrible, because ariel;s daughter melody was even worst X__X

  • @ChronoArcAile3000 I actually liked Melody. However one thing we can agree on is that when Chris Thorndike was mentioned was HILARIOUS! XD

  • I completely agree with this. Ariel is a bitch. And as a huge Sonic fan, I laughed my pants off when you mentioned how she was no different than Chris Thorndike. I hate that kid. XD

  • To be honest, I have and still do like the Little Mermaid. And I see your points. Actually, I was watching it again before I watched this review and notice all the flaws of it. But I do admire and appreciate the time and effort spent for the animators to create the detailed sceneries and the melodious songs being created (my favorite being Part of Your World.) Well, how I saw it is that if you're taking the movie too seriously, you probably aren't going to enjoy it as much.

  • to me the little mermaid is the best disney film beats the rest hands down

  • @leonum1bitch Better than films like Lion King and Aladdin?

  • No offence, I'm not trying to stick up for Shakespeare as I think he is overrated but still. The classic story Romeo and Juliet was a story about love at first sight but that became a classic :S

  • @LeonSKennedy828 I totally agree but in the eyes of many Romeo and Juliet was a classic story as many still talk about it today. If they thought it sucked then it would be long gone by know kwam?

  • @theholygoalienumber1

Romeo and Juliet wasn't written to be the greatest love story ever, as many believed. Shakespeare wrote the story as a cautionary tale of infatuation and letting your libido conquer your brain. So therefore, Romeo and Juliet was a story abou lust and superficialness, not a true love story. I bet Shakespeare is rolling in his grave with people misinterperating his stories.

  • @GueiGirl I'm not saying it was. I'm saying it is recognized as by many people, i just said I don't agree with them.

  • You have to think and look at Ariel's point of view the reason she was obsessed with human world and wanted to be apart of it is to get away from her life in the kingdom and her father, she was in a caged in. Think of rose in titanic she never found interest in the rich life she said "she feels like shes screaming but no one around her seems to notice". same with Ariel she feel in love with Eric becuase he represented the freedom she wants.

  • @ItsFlapJack

Rose was also a spoiled ungrateful brat. What woman in the right state of mind would rather be a hooker than a rich girl? I didn't feel sorry for Rose one bit. In fact, I think Titanic, alongside Pearl Harbor are the most insulting historical films ever made.

  • @GueiGirl what kind of titanic are you watching? Rose was never a hooker she was a spoiled rich woman but she never was happy with the things she has same with Ariel. Material things aren't everything and Rose was aware of it but couldn't find a way to break free from her family. I have no idea what the hell happened to your child hood but when you watch a movie don't watch them with a pole up your ass think of the minds of each character to know where they are coming from your close minded.

  • @ItsFlapJack

In Titanic, Rose quotes to her fiance that "She'd rather be a whore than his wife."

And it's okay if you like the Little Mermaid and Titanic, but you can't change my mind. I hate both of those movies with an undying passion.

BTW, Ariel isn't real. She's a cartoon character.

  • @GueiGirl yes becuase Rose was trapped by him and her family trying to tie her down into a life she did not want. The little mermaid and Titanic are different stories but similar feelings Ariel and rose have. I'm not trying to change your opinion im just making my point that people look at this movie 2d stand point and only hear and see but dont really see what the characters are coming from. If you seen the series and 3rd movie her father was realy controlling ..

  • his reviews are decent when he's not undermining "what kids can take." my friend rob who grew up with The Land Before Time would take offense to him saying dark animated films suck. He admitted to being creeped out by the volcano scene, but i doubt it scarred him.

  • P.S. It's not that I hated Confused Matthew's opinion on The Lion King. I just felt like some of the stuff he said in his review was obnoxious and illogical. I also didn't like his review on The Incredibles personally. But other than that, I think Confused Matthew is an average reviewer. Again, not to offend the guy.

  • @Multianimefan89 it really does seem that when he reviews kids' films, he becomes the worst reviewer on YT. clearly he's never heard of or seen a don bluth film.(an animator that kicked the Disney Animation Company's butt for a few years.) and as a result, he severly undermines what kids can take. according to Bluth, "kids can take just about anything as long as you attach a happy ending"

  • @SpikeAndJack500 I have changed my views on Confused Matthew a little bit at this point. He's a good reviewer other times but when he reviews kid's movies, he kind of acts like a soccer mom at times. Plus, his review on The Lion King wasn't very good. In fact, when I do my review on Confused Matthew and his work. I hope I don't offend him in anyway possible. I'll just try to point out some things here and there.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 P.S. Speaking of Don Bluth, i wonder what Confused Matthew's reactiosn would be to some of the films that Bluth has made. Oh wait, it'll be the same reaction like his reaction to The Incredibles. I bet you that it'll happen. lol

  • @Multianimefan89 Blth makes Pixar's darkness look like Dreamworks. he'd call Bluth's films "abomonations".

  • @SpikeAndJack500 What!? You're kidding me right? -facepalms- Oh boy....-sighs-

  • @SpikeAndJack500 Or wait, are you talking about Confused Matthew right? Sorry for the stupidity. lol

  • @Multianimefan89 of course! Fox seems 2 know wayy more about animation and what kids can take. Mathew's LK review sucked and when he said The Little Mermaid's romance was less cheesy than LK's, that's when i said "this guy's got no idea what he's talking about". i'd hate 2 know that he would review one of my and rob's future animated films

  • @SpikeAndJack500 All of this kind of tells me that Confused Matthew doesn't understand kid's films nor does he understand the concept of real life in animated films. Also The Little Mermaid's romance was cheesy as fuck!

  • @Multianimefan89 i do LOVE the songs, though. (in mermaid) Mathee needs to stick to non kids films though.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 Yeah i agree with you. Matthew's better at reviewing films that are NOT for kids. I liked his review on Indepence Day, Armageddon, and The Golden Compass (sort of) though.

  • @Multianimefan89 his reviews are okay when he doesn't bitch about dark moments in animation my friend Rob loves Don Bluth's Land Before Time and he says the volcano scene was most memorable for its darkness.(he was a kid when he first saw it is what he told me.)

  • @SpikeAndJack500 That's true. I loved The Land Before Time! One of my favorites! :3

  • @SpikeAndJack500 P.S. There's just something that baffles me about Matthew's views on kids though. He complained that Lyra from The Golden Compass was a spoiled brat and was such a sour character but yet Ariel was kind bratty and stubborn and Matthew didn't complain about that! Why is that? Now with Lyra, I can kind of udnerstand why I mean Lyra was such a mary-sue brat in my opinion so i agree with Matthew on that. But what REALLY suprised me what that he didn't say anything bad about Ariel!

  • Ariel's too perfect for my liking. I prefer Mulan, Belle, or Jasmine more. Atleast Ariel more likable than *cough* *cough* Bella Swan (In my opinion). I used to love The Little Mermaid when I was a kid. But I think it's an okay movie at this point.

But you bring up pretty good points in this review. Atleast your review on the movie is more fair and less idiotic. Not to offend Confused Matthew's review on The Lion King.

  • If you want to know more about the story, read the book, in which is much more than this!

  • @Cynthia149

Ironically, Hans Christian Anderson didn't write the Little Mermaid to be a romantic love story. He wrote it to demonstrate how unhealthy obsessions make people miserable. I mean, in the original tale, the mermaid is so obsessed with the prince, that she puts herself through hell to be with him. It wasn't until the reprecussions for the obsessions that led to the mermaid becoming a spirit and letting the prince go.

  • Ariel is tried of life under the sea and wants more out of life, that's why she wants to live on the land.

She did get to know Eric a bit after she became human.

She didn't think exploring the ship was more important than the the concert, she forgot about it.

  • @buc555 To the point of wanting to give up your family for a guy you barley know? It might be one thing if she considered him a friend, like Ponyo did in the aptly titled film, but a lover you'd want to marry? I don't buy that.

And what's to say she hadn't done it many times before, and it's not the only time she was selfish in the film, again I elaborated on this. (Forgive me if I come across as a smartass)

  • @LeonSKennedy828 She doesn't want to give up her family, she just wants to know what human life is like.

  • @buc555 And in order to do so, she's willing to give up everyone she knows out of what amounts to little more than mere curiosity and her "love" for a man she hardly even knows.

  • Have you ever watched the tv series? Ariel is a bit nicer in that.

  • What about Aladdin and Jasmine? They fell in love right away and then Aladdin lied to her to try and win her over. Then even when he's found out he tells an even bigger lie. And finally at the end when he is revealed not to be a prince, Jasmine doesn't say anything about it. That always pissed me off.

  • @buc555 That never really struck a cord with me, they clicked at first because despite being on opposite sides of the social class system they could relate to the feeling of being trapped in their lives, which is a much better connection than Ariel and her loverboy Eric had.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 It's a better connection but it's still based on a lie.

  • @buc555 Not upon initially meeting each other it wasn't, they knew they had something before he made the guise of being a prince.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 Their love was stil based on a lie.

  • @buc555 And I say again, he didn't have much alternative but TO lie if he wanted to see her again, and he knew he had something with her and vice versa when he did it.

  • good job but I really dont know if her family is so great as you say, her father screams all the time and is really scary, her sisters is, well, moony...

  • @lovemusic1007 I suppose I can somewhat agree on the sisters, but then we barley see them so that may have just been one side to their personalities. Her father however was a good father, he screamed at her in times when she disobeyed him because he loved her.

To quote Winnie the Pooh from the episode "Find Her, Keep Her" "You know Piglet, sometimes people care too much, I think it's called love."

(Quite a surprising deep statement for that character, actually)

  • Ariel used to be my favorite Disney Princess as a child, ONLY because I loved her hair and the way it was animated.

Plus, even when I was little, I always thought it was a bit idiotic to ditch your family for a guy... and a vagina, but anyways.

And I also remember thinking Eric was a jerk. Why, I do not know. x]

  • @ToxicMonkies Eric could well have been a jerk for all Ariel knew, she didn't even know him. But even if he wasn't he was still a very wooden character to be honest.

  • Thank God I'm not the only one who thought Cars was a bad movie...

Heh, I liked this movie as a kid. I liked Ariel because she daydreams all the time... just like me XD I never really cared for the fact that she fell in love with the Prince, I always shloved it off as "Well, it's Disney."

I agree with what you say, though, it's an overrated film. I kinda blame the writers for her flaws rather than her character, though, but that's probably because she's a childhood favorite. Great review :)

  • @TheTrainTicket The "Well, it's Disney" excuse doesn't work for any of the Renaissance films though, I don't think, and they have done great love stories before, i.e Lady and the Tramp, Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, Tarzan and maybe a few others.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 Heh, I figured I'd get that response.

I'm not defending her and Eric, it was a bad love story. I'm just saying whenever something I find to be cheesy such as "love at first sight" happened in a Disney film, I would use the "Well, it's Disney" excuse.

  • @TheTrainTicket Fair enough. I have to admit I do use that excuse with films such as Snow White, which outside of its shallow romance was still a great fairy tale (and MANY fairy tales had shallow relationships anyway)

In The Little Mermaid however...well...just watch the above video, if you haven't already :P

  • @LeonSKennedy828 Oh, I did. I liked it XD

  • @LeonSKennedy828

In the original Snow White, she falls in love with the prince because he basically uses the heimlich manuver on her, saving her life. Yes, she originally was choking on the apple and the dwarves (or giants, depending on what version you read) are too dumb to notice that.

  • @GueiGirl Can't say I've read it, personally.

  • @TheTrainTicket I'm with you, darling. I really liked the movie as a kid, for the sole reason that Ariel was a mermaid, and alot of the movie took place in the ocean. I thought the atmosphere was really fun and cool, and Ariel was an ok character for the first five minutes of the movie...until you realize that what you thought was spunky and adventurous is actually stupid and insipid. Oh well, I can't say that the movie doesn't still have nostalgic value to me.

  • I like the original version so much better. The sea witch originally kills the Little Mermaid because she failed. I like mermaids, but Ariel gives them a bad name.

  • @GueiGirl I dunno, wasn't the original story more or less saying "you have your place in society, damn well stick to it!"?

Though at the same time, Ariel meeting some repercussions did make it better.

  • @LeonSKennedy828

To me, it's about facing your fears and fighting off the unknown.

Oh, and the mermaid also gets her tongue sliced out by the sea witch too.

  • wouldn't compare her to bella. at least she has an actress and not a person off the street.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 As a character though she is very, VERY similar, but I actually think Bella is worse.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 maybe, but her actor doesn't make me want to hurt puppies. kristen stewart got her part i swear by being a whore. sorry, but i have no other theory.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 I'm confused, you say she doesn't make you wanna hurt puppies but give a huge rant on her...I'm confused ^^;

  • @LeonSKennedy828 i meant ariels actor doesn't.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 Oh right ^^; Yeah, Ariel's voice actress seems like a nice person who genuinely cares about her character, and she knows said character has a loyal fanbase and always returns to voice her, even in Kingdom Hearts, which I do have to respect. I just wish I liked the character more.

  • @uzimakishadow Sorry, was probably because I have them set to approve =P

  • @uzimakishadow You said that in your previous comment =P But yeah, the similarties between them are uncanny. They both have everything one could ever want from both a tangible and emotional standpoint yet they're both ungrateful little brats that love to piss and moan.

  • stupid youtube. it pushed all the lines in the song together i two of the parts.

  • last part

and using the disc as a doggy's toy

better than watching it the whole way through

ariel's selfish and eric is what's the word? dumb.

    kiss my big bum

    i hated this

i really wish that i'd missed this

    stupid movie

    wish i could see

    a better film

  • middle part what would i do if i could view a better movie what can i say this movie's gay, for twilight fans why is it liked are their drinks spiked? or is it ariel's big boobies? guys are horny this film's corny drown it in sand
  • verse 1 part 2

i want a movie that's fun to watch

get me some popcorn and a large soda

what's with this movie and why does it...what's the word? suck.

    this movie's fuck

    and i'd love

love to tell them where i'd like to shove

    screw this movie

    wish i could see

    a decent film

  • shitty movie:the little mermaid-verse 1 part 1 look at this shit, isn't it bad? wonder how many crack pipes disney had? looking at this film, you think mediocrity this beat don bluth why is it so? how many bad scenes can one movie hold? looking around here you think yeah, mediocrity it's got shitty, forgettable heroes it's got bullshit and nonsense galore you want crappy romance? it's got plenty. but who cares? oh, yeah me. fuck this film.
  • To be fair a lot of those other earlier Disney films' source material, such as Snow White, were a lot darker than Disney presented similarly to Little Mermaid. For instance in Snow White they killed the evil queen by forcing her to dance to death wearing heated metal shoes I believe.

I like this movie, but it's not one of my favorite Disney films. My faves would have to be Aladdin, Lion King, and Hunchback of Notre Dame.

  • @SLPIFan My complaint isn't that Disney lightened up a dark story and only that though, it's just that it's a bad story outright. I mean the original story wasn't great (it more or less said "you have a place in society, damn well stick to it!") but at least it had Ariel facing some repercussions for her actions.

  • last thing on this vid, i promise. i find it really shitty that this is more popular than hunchback. i know it's adult, but it has a good moral that is better than anything in this film.

  • @robertreturns Just about every Disney film deserves to be more popular than The Little Mermaid save for Home on the Range.

  • i really do love this review. nice to see someone who doesn't buy this clitche piece of crap. ursala's too good for this film. but i gotta say, princess and the frog, come to think of it, has a way more unbelievable love story. the difference is that film doesn't have ursala or any good songs as redeeming factors. sorry, but after watching princess and frog i gotta say it's worse. the two characters are polar opposites and yet they give the relationship development little screen time.

  • @robertreturns I have Princess and the Frog on blu ray, and they do start off as opposites, but I still felt it developed at a pretty decent pace, but it was far from Disney's greatest love story. (That was easily Beauty and the Beast)

  • @LeonSKennedy828 yes, and that's why i love beauty and the beast(1st favorite disney film.) i'll point out everything wrong with ariel and the relationship as i see it in my next comment. and to people who believe in love at first sight, umm.....HAHAHAHAHA! it's the dumbest idea ever! they're saying that you can tell who a person is by looking at appearances!

  • @robertreturns yes and this is the film that proves it.

  • @SpikeAndJack500 Are you saying yes as in you agree with him, or yes you can judge a person by appearances? I can't tell ^^;

  • @LeonSKennedy828 i'm agreeing. even disney can't make love at first sight believable and anyone who believes in it is a moron(i'm not accepting opinions on that. i have a girl who i'm crazy about and it's not because i spied on her and sighed heavily. that's seriously what love at first sight is.)

  • Comment removed

  • @gamergirl500 I wouldn't say someone was stupid just for liking or loving this film. There are plenty of people that thought Beauty and the Beast had an awful moral message that taught girls there were 2 types of black or white guys in the world, and that it was wrong to teach them that if you're kind to a jerk he may see the light as it were. I couldn't disagree more with this, but it does show how diverse opinions and perspectives can be.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 i think she meant people who believed in love at first sight are retards.

  • @robertreturns Ah right ^^;

  • @SpikeAndJack500 Yeah, I have to agree. I don't mind love at first sight in most of Disney's fairy tales, because they're much more innocent and simple, like Snow White. But The Little Mermaid, much like Twilight is a film that girls COULD be influenced by as the characters do come off as being more real than that film, even if it is much worse.

  • @robertreturns It's not my all time favourite Disney film (that would be The Fox and the Hound) but it comes DAAAAAMMMN close for me.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 lol, fox and hound was my first film i remember watching. contains the saddest disney part. the goodbye scene.

  • @robertreturns I loved it because of the social commentary it made on prejudice and its effect on society getting in the way of friendships and even lives entirely, and the fact it was just plain adorable even without its amazing and convincing message.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 k i know i've commented a lot, but i would like to try to write my second parody song. this time, to part of your world. can i post it on this vid.

  • @robertreturns Uuh, sure.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 the fox and the hound is what i credit as my first film i've seen. it IS the first memorable film because of the goodbye part. i still cry. badly

  • @robertreturns The ending was actually rather sad too, if you think about it. It was one of the few Disney films that didn't have a traditional happy ending, it was more bitter-sweet, at least to me.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 so this is my take on ariel. she starts off by calling flounder a guppy(chicken) because he's afraid of a shark. that's actually a rational fear, moron! then she sees a human, practically creams her fin at the sight of him(just delete this if it's too.), she is then revealed to be a stalker when we see a statue of him. then she gladly and quickly sells her soul for legs. then at the end she apologizes to her dad, right? no. Belle, show her how to be a good female character.

  • @robertreturns What you say is all true.

  • You know, this is my favorite movie in the whole world, and I use to hate it when I was little (The secede one was my fav movie though XD!) but now I'm in love with it! I have memorized most of the songs, I know all the main actors and stuff, I can name all the goofs. But the one thing that made this clip worth watching, is that you aren't afraid to post your opinion about this movie, even though it's well loved. And I respect you for that.

Ariel is kinda stubborn, but he isn't shallow and al

  • @iloveVanilla14 You're entitled to like/love this film and disagree with what I have to say. However I still stand by my statement that she's shallow, for the reasons I stated in my review.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 All Ariel really wanted to do was learn something new, to experiance life on land. You made some pretty good points though, saying taht she had a loving family and was royal, but Ariel didnt seem to have any limitations. She was very headstrong

  • @iloveVanilla14 Yes but...why did she want to get away from her life? The film never states any real reason, is it because she has a terrible life under water, or she hates the way her father runs his kingdom, she has someone she's known for years on land and truly loves him or her, wants to do something she can only do on land, i,e acting or dancing on stage? No, she just thinks it looks cool/she's bored, which is hardly a genuine reason to abandon everyone who cares for you in my opinion.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 We all have our opinions.

Why did we fly to the moon? No real reason for that. We did it for curiosity. Ariel simply wanted to know more. It says it in Part of Your World. "I wanna know what the people know. Ask them my questions and get some answers." It was suppose to be "Love at first sight."

Good job on the interveiw though. I enjoyed it. :) Keep them up!

  • @iloveVanilla14 There was plenty of reason to fly to the moon, we've been trying to discover the many mysteries of space for many generations now, and landing on the moon was one of those major steps.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 True :) All I'm saying is The Little Mermaid is my fave movie, I'm not saying it's the best, and that I enjoyed your interveiw. I love you accent too. I have something close to it XD

  • @iloveVanilla14 heh, thanks ^^ And yeah, I enjoyed the discussion as well.

  • @iloveVanilla14 As I say in the review, Remy in Ratatouille is a character who wants to break away from his current lifestyle and way of living, and the film's tone conveys his reasoning both believably and in a way that makes you get behind the character. For me, The Little Mermaid did neither of these with Ariel.

  • hahai totally agree with you!! man Ive always hated this movie

  • the first is way better. in fact, most people i ask hate the sequel. i haven't seen it since i was a kid.

  • @robertreturns I think I'm gonna give both films a watch sometime.

  • remember....THIS BEAT OUT ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN AND WON THE ANIMATION WAR BETWEEN DISNEY AND BLUTH! a film about a stupid, sudden, creepy relationship defeated a dark, beautiful, cute family film about redeeming yourself. did athiests boycott all dogs or something?

  • @robertreturns I've never seen that film I don't think, I saw its sequel as a kid though and loved it, still need to check out the original.

  • I never really thought about Ariel in that way, but now that you mention it she was kinda a spoilt brat. She was never my favorite Disney girl (Belle is), maybe because she was so young and naive. But yeah agreed, she isn't a very good role model for little girls. However, I think Ursula is a good villian. I don't hate this movie but I don't love it either : /

  • @Twime777 Ursula wasn't a terrible antagonist, but I would have liked her a lot more if she was in a better film. Come to think of it, the same could be said for every character in this film besides Ariel and Eric.

  • @LeonSKennedy828

True, Ariel was very easy to "trick". Like hell would I give my "soul" away for a person I just seen for 5 minutes XD. You are so right, All the other characters are ok apart from Ariel and Eric. Eric just seemed to have very little personality, to me : /

  • @Twime777 Scuddle was kind of annoying, but the sad thing is, I rather liked Sebastian, Flounder and King Triton, which is why it sucks that they're in such a terrible film that really doesn't deserve the place in history that it has.

  • Also i thought you had great points in this review about how it teaches young girls that if you act like a little brat youll get what you want. Probably one of the best reviews ive ever seen.

  • @151Drummer haha, thanks again =P

  • I loved the rant on how they fell in love in 5mins. That was hilarious because it was so true. Good job man.

  • @151Drummer heh, this wasn't meant to be comedic, but thanks regardless ^^

  • You have good opinions.

  • @tomtheworldof Thanks ^^

  • This was epic.

  • @DalueCommentarys haha, thanks =P

  • Kingdom Hearts II Atlantica.

    IT HURTS.
