We gave him chemical weapons, we didn't care when he used them on his people, UN weapons inspectors said there were no WMDs and the CIA lied as evidenced by the fact that nothing even close to a WMD has been found. Obeidi wouldn't have been able to restart the nuke program of the 90's because it was too expensive. AND you ignored the facts about torture and aggression. Saddam violated UN resolutions again & again & never once allowed the inspectors to complete their task. There was no way to verify WMD w/o the comforting certainty of hindsight upon which your argument so heavily relies.

He had them till he was forced to disarm in the 90's in accordance with UN and US demands. If the only way to confirm that a country has WMD's is to invade them then its not a justification for invasion. The UN absolutely completed their task. All the crimes you cite of Saddam's are ultimately OUR fault for putting him in power, letting him stay in power and ignoring him when he committed these crimes.

Forced to disarm? Ha! In 97 Saddam expelled all American inspectors & activated ground-to-air missile systems to deter inspection flights. Then, in 98 he refused access to "presidential sites."

In September 98, the chief U.N. inspector informed the Security Council that Iraq was barring inspections. The council passed a resolution condemning Iraq. Iraq responded by suspending all cooperation with U.N. inspections. Meanwhile he shot at allied aircraft almost daily in the no fly zones.

After the gulf war Iraq was essentialy in ruins and the fiercest economic sanctions ever levied against a country were levied against Iraq. It was impossible for him to take care of his own people much less develop advanced WMD's. Post invasion inspections confirm that he was no closer to a WMD in 2003 then in 1990, regardless of whether he was complying with inspectors prior to the announcement of the invasion he didn't have WMDs, inspectors just before the invasion confirmed this.

The NGIC released a report in 2006 that documented that hundreds of chemical weapons had been located since the invaision. They were not new but it proved that the limited inspections that Saddam allowed did not reveal the supply.

2nd...wrong. The inspectors were not permitted to finish.

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth. 1st you say the inpectors were allowed to do their job then you say well it doesnt matter if they were allowed to finish. It did matter.

Focus. The inspections were not able to be completed during the 90's but just prior to the invasion Saddam panicked and DID allow inspectors in who DID finish their job and demonstrated no WMDs. n January 2003, United Nations weapons inspectors reported that they had found no indication that Iraq possessed nuclear weapons or an active program. The inspectors didn't find the trivial amount that NGIC did because it was an old, decrepit, minuscule supply that in no way justified an invasion.

The inpectors were never allowed access to everthing prior to the invasion.

Demetrius Perricos announced that before, during and after the war, Saddam shipped WMD & medium-range ballistic missiles to countries in Europe & the M. East. Entire factories were dismantled & shipped as scrap metal to Jordan, the Netherlands & Turkey. Perricos showed 2 photos of a missile site near Baghdad, one taken in 05/03 with an active facility, the other in 02/04 that showed it had simply disappeared.

There are 4 crimes that a nation can commit to lose its sovereignty: regular aggressions against neighboring states, violation of the Genocide Convention (of which we are signatories and legally bound to act if violated), violation of the Non-Proliferation treaty, and support or host international terroists or criminals.
