if i wanted something that seats two, i would get a motorcycle for half the price of the fortwo that destroys most cars on the road in acceleration and still gets 50 MPG.
I'm on the waiting list as well. I've only been waiting since May of this year (08), they told me it'll be at least a year to a year and a half. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. ^^
i've had my smart 2-1/2 months, it's great! 41-46mpg so far, just waiting for a highway trip (all my driving is local stop and go) i wish i had power windows, so many people ask me about it on the road, i gotta reach over and crank the window down and up! this car is solid and pure class!!! and it likes to GO, when i do get on the road, trying to keep it at 60mph, it likes to sneek up to 70mph if you don't watch the speedometer, it's comfortable at high speeds...
If you're going to talk to people and get their commentary, then tell something about the car each time. ...the safety..etc. Did you do your're homework on the specs of the car? Talk about fluff reporting.
I've driven one, and this car is awesome... You will never have to worry about parking again - you can always find a spot! The automatic transmission wasn't too impressive though, but I'm sure the new models have much better ones.
i enjoy the heck out of my smart car and i have a product for it on ebay, check it out, smart wheel bolt covers.

I'm from Belgium and i drive the former model, a Smart 2006 Cdi Convertible.
It is soooooo cheap to drive....even on the freeway or the city.

EPA fuel economy:
Highway = 5,9 l/100 km
City = 7,1 l/100 km
No way!! I see these data on Smart USA website. But here in Sweden it says 4,3 l/100 km. You can check on Smart UK or Sweden.

I don't disagree that Kias are mediocre, I'm actually purchasing a Smart, I just don't think this interviewer has anything intelligent to say.

Why did they start this with a painful commentary by a midwestern mindset host?
I would buy one in a heartbeat. Hope they have a convertible.

This will never work in the States. Americans don't have the European mindset.

Amen to that! ^_^

i'm driving the 2006 model, a diesel convertible.
4,5 à 5,0 liter/km ( but i'm driving like an old man).
Every little bump in the road , believe me, you have felt it.
...
But i had this model (the 2007-08 model), it's better....but i wouldn't buy a new one.
