@plasticworlds i really think that probably YOU can't hear, if u truly think she can't sing, altho, i do admit this Springsteen thing is the worst possible duet she ever did, listen to her other stuff, no back up singers can help her performance, when she has her own band, and no narcisstic ' Bosses' on the stage trying to drown her out.
I adore him, also, but they sre both too talented to play anything together!!

@plasticworlds Oh like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen,Bruce cockburn and many more that are accoplished. I marvel at you shallowness and being a judgemental mental midget!
I hand it to Bruce. He's a star that doesn't mind just stepping out of the spotlight and just be what he wanted to be when he was a kid — good enough to play guitar in a band.
Bruce is a killer guitar player ( what isn't he)....any doubt, give a listen to his leads on Prove It All Night, Adam Raised A Cain and Because The Night. Hey, maybe Barak will appoint him Secretary of State....works for me !
oh man i saw her play last night at the WaMu at MSG in NYC.. she played this one boy was she on!!!! what a great show. i met the whole band except the drummer after the show on the street at 1 A.M. Before that I asked Lucinda to give me a hug and she started to come over but then her up tight security guards directed her towards the limo so she apologized and blew me a kiss
She is great & I wonder if she's been influenced by the great songwriter / artist Essra Mohawk. Essra wrote Cyndi Lauper's "Change of Heart" & Tina Turner's "Stronger Than The Wind."
as I said in the comment, "this is one of HER weaker songs."
The Bruce outstanding, Lucinda very good was in general. I do have all of Lucinda's cds, but this song is, in my opinion, definitely not one of her best, with that horrible elongated guitar solo in the middle - yuk! but if you like it, and enjoy it, fine.
I have to say, I agree this song doesn't have that much going for it but I like the emotion and as a guitar player I can kind of feel Bruce is a bit embarrassed with his own guitar playing here too. It isn't great.
Personally, I love this song in the studio version. It really has that evil boogie simple-hypnotic thing that really works for me. I'd rather have this raw feeling than the boring songs that plague Essence, for instance.
On the other hand, according to what I listened so far it seems that Lucinda can't pull this song live. Don't know why.
Oh my god this is awesome. Just saw Springsteens concert in Houston, and am a long standing fan of Lucinda having seen her in several concerts and own all her albums since the begining
Lucinda is an angel. Nearly by herself, she has resurrected Bobbie Gentry's lost reputation, and status( and music catalog) back to its former iconic status.
You're a cool parent, with a kid who sounds pretty cool, too! I just bought Lucinda tickets for a show near Philadelphia in September - can't wait to see her again.

@plasticworlds No I don't think. She sings just fine, it's her own voice and it suits her tunes just as Bob Dylans voice suits his.

Bruce may be the most underrated guitarist in rock n roll. Lu may be the most underrated person in rock/country music.

The point and power of the song is in its simplicity.

I spent a couple years driving a semi a while back, and one of the company's drop yards for trailers was in West Memphis.
Yes, I'd think of this song every time I went there.

Bruce is outstanding and Lucinda is very good, but this is one of her weaker songs and to be honest, much too long.

I'm sorry but Lucinda wrote this song. So if Bruce is outstanding, it's because Lucinda wrote it, you idiot.
Get a clue.
