Due to the argument, did anyone thought for moment that Smetana was maybe Jewish? And wrote "Kocka leze dirou, pes oknem", with birth of Israel in mind? Vltava was premiered in 1875, so who knows? The wonderful Austrian Hungarian Empire should have stayed together and EU would be better off today. It will never work, because of the Germany. Brits refused euros with typical sense of humor: "We are never going to use same money as Gerrys!" Love'm. The Brits!
I am currently learning the trade of the music supplies vendor (probably not the right term, I'm german and don't know the english word for "musikalienfachhändler" :P) and I have to listen to a lot of classic music so I know what I am selling. But stuff like this, this isn't work, this is pure entertainment :D
Much has already been said about the piece, the composer and the orchestra... so I'm just going to add that the videography is pleasant, giving nice angles and views of the different parts of the orchestra :-D
Toto nema konkurenciu! Dielo uzasnej kvality. Toto su skutocne pocity, dej a obraz v jednom. Klobu dole pred panom Smetanom! Toto velkodielo milujem uz od svojich 8 rokov a vzdy mi chlpy stoja, ked ho pocuvam.
Nechápu jak někdo může vymyslet, složit a převést na papír něco tak složitého pro tolik hudebních nástrojů dohromady, aby to dávalo smysl a vyšla z toho taková paráda..
@panebozecz Moj dedko bol dost uznavany dirigent a skladatel. Zlozil viac ako 300 partitur pre orchestre, obzvlast dychove. Presne toto iste som sa ho pytala, ze ako to moze vobec napisat! Tiez som muzikant, ale toto siaha za moju predstavivost . Povedal: "To je to iste ako ked ty pises alebo vymyslas nejaku basnicku" Takze, naozaj je to o talente a o dare...vdaka za takychto geniov! Aspon sa mame comu cudovat :-)

Wow, actually you're right! I didn't know that. I always thought the melody is taken from a traditional Czech folk song "Kočka leze dírou," which is true and it's the exact same melody, but according to Wikipedia it is based on an Italian renaissance song "La Mantovana," which was also the basis for the Israeli national anthem. Thanks for that one! :-)
@Yo192837465 Here is correction: It is an adaptation of the melody La Mantovana, attributed to the Italian renaissance tenor Giuseppe Cenci (also known as Giuseppino),which, in a borrowed Moldovan form, was also the basis for the Israeli national anthem, Hatikvah.
I don´t care what somebody write on wiki,it doesn´t mean that it´s true,I bet Smetana never heard those at all. It´s only few tones which are same not even in same rhythm,few repeat again and again,Vltava has over 12 minutes,my favourite parts are 0:00-1:08 and 3:52-5:05 etc.+ how it's all done,nothing to do with that your Hatik.or La Mant. It's 12min.masterpiece,only few tones 'luckily' sound same,every song has few tones same with others,it doesn´t mean that it´s based on it jesus :-D
Composers as Smetana don't need make any adaptation! They are geniuses and create own,he was DEAF! when composed Vltava. There is a czech song 'Kocka leze dirou' for children and it has few tones same too and it doesn´t mean that it´s adaptation of it :D It´s not nice when somebody make something great as a whole part and others try get little bit success,attention because of something small!!! I don´t even like how is Hatikv.and La Mant.composed,sorry and Vltava is my favourite music :))

@parashoust to je tím, že se jedná o rozhlasový symfonický orchestr. Nevím proč, ale v roce 2009 se toho oproti tradicím ujali oni (jinak vždy začíná národní filharmonie). Je to moc krásné, ale ruku na srdce, tito umělci jsou spíše takoví hudební žoldáci. Nechci se jich dotknout, ale pro ně to je jako zahrát například Osudovou živě v rádiu, tedy jejich JEN "job". Žádný vnitřní vztah, tradice, cit. Hrdost.

Poslání Symfonického orchestru Českého rozhlasu dávno překročilo hranice, které mu snad kdysi, v roce 1926, byly při jeho založení vytyčeny. V současné době se přímé přenosy symfonických koncertů "ze studia" v podstatě nekonají. Náš orchestr se dnes zabývá v první řadě intenzívní koncertní činností, a to doma i v zahraničí. Hrajeme pravidelně na předních pódiích Evropy (Mnichov, Salzburg, Vídeň, Amsterdam...) a Asie.
V Aténách jsme nedávno přispěli k realizaci několika velkolepých operních projektů (díla A. Berga, A. Schoenberga) o kterých psaly noviny doslova v celé Evropě. Nahráváme CD, koncertujeme prakticky na všech velkých Českých festivalech, naši hostující sólisté mají čím dál tím zvučnější jména... Pokud jde o Pražské Jaro, SOČR na něm pravidelně vystupuje od roku 1947. Loni zahájila festival Mou Vlastí Pražská Komorní Filharmonie, předtím náš orchestr, o rok dříve Státní Filharmonie Brno,
předtím zase SOČR, atd... Letos se můžeme těšit na Mou Vlast v podání Symfonického Orchestru Pražské Konzervatoře,což bude,pokud vím, porvé v historii, kdy vystoupí studenti. Je to příjemná tradice... Přes to všechno musím, ač nerad, souhlasit s předchozím komentářem. Když se podívám na ten záznam, tak je v tom projevu, podle mého názoru, určitá strnulost. Jistě je to výzva ke zlepšení. Ale když zavřu oči a jenom poslouchám, tak se mi to líbí. Fakt.
@gunranger Unfortunately YouTube does not allow videos longer then 10 minutes and Vltava has 12 minutes. So it need's to be split like this. I tried to find the most appropriate spot for splitting.
