Guys it is clear that this is an English class for foreign young learners so the lyrics changed according to the limited vocabulary these young kids have, there's no point in trying to explain kids who are not yet literate why you say "shake it all about" instead of the simpler "shake, shake, shake, shake, shake". I find this brilliant and I'm absolutely going to check the website. I'll be teaching 4-6 y.o. kids in China in a couple of months and this will be a great help! :o)

Exactly right ... they screwed up the lyrics! This is not the authentic Hokey Pokey! They corrupted it! "Shake, shake, shake..."??? Give me a break!

i think the point is more about the kids learning some simple commands like 'please stand up', 'sit down', 'be quiet' than teaching the "authentic" lyrics.... since it looks like an efl class... and very practical for entertaining efl kids imo

Your kids are so well behaved. I got to the "You put one foot in" part and ended up with 12 kids jumping on my toes. Little blighters! - So with that in mind - I'll only do it with small classes of 5 or 6 as well as ensuring they are not wearing shoes in the future :)

It isn't boring if you do all the actions. The version in the video is much simplified and leaves out the chorus, which is the best bit, because you all get to run in and out of the circle on gleeful abandon. Children and adults alike love that bit.
