InsideUniversal, you're right. I Am Sam is a movie that could have been really good, but when you sit down and actually try to analyze the film, the film falls flat on its face. The biggest problem with this movie is you want to love Sam, you want him to be able to succeed. The issue is that while Sam is a good person, he really doesn't have the intellect to raise his daughter alone. If this were a real life situation, Sam would have had Lucy taken from him LONG before her 7th birthday.
