My friend hunts so I know what a ghillie suit looks like when someone is on all fours. The obvious avoidance of looking straight at the dogman. That there is a seeming conglomeration of differing times is not at all unexplainable. As this is 16mm celluloid (I believe,) the amassed scenes could have taken place over several weeks. Back then you didn't just film today, and run in to up-load it on your PC. Rather, you filmed until the film was all used up, and then you got it developed-UNLESS, of course, you were filming a special event. Any thoughts?

I know you posted this 2 months ago, but I just wanted to let you know that the guy who filmed it came forward. He shot it in 2008. He owned all of the cars and snowmobiles from the 70s, and shot it with his kids. The creature costume was something he bought offline.

Also, it starts its charge in a building manner. By this, I mean that it does not start at the camera in a full run. In my mind, this lends it a feel of reality. Okay. I am totally intrigued by this film. Which, I am not saying that it is not a hoax-HOWEVER, I am saying that there are several points of interest in the final scenes. To begin with, the upper "Forelegs" are not at all proportioned in the normal "Dog" legs. They seem more muscular than a canine leg-more like a human arm. On the other hand, the rear leg (As seen between 3:15 and 3:16) do not appear human, but rather DO appear to be like dogs. CONT.

Actually, most bears in the lower 48 sleep sporadically, rarely hibernating continually through the winter. This animal runs like a large bear, possibly a grizzly. Also the "mouth" seems to also indicate a bear. The lips are black and "loose" and the teeth are ursine in appearance. This video could have been shot over many days or weeks (it's film not a digital sequence). Snow does not necessarily mean it's winter, it could have been late fall, and, we don't know where this film was shot.

Actually, having seen charging bears from head on, it does move exactly like a bear.  Also, the problem with the wolf tail theory is that, if it was a wolf tail, it would have to be curled up over the animal's back in order to look like it does in the video. Wolves don't run with their tails curled over their backs, only sled dogs do that. Wolves run, or charge, with their tails straight out behind them. The "tail" seen at the tree is curved - like a bear's bushy, fleshy behind would be.

At large frame size: frame 3:11 the small tree branch in foreground creates illusion the animal's head is lifted up, but in fact it's looking downward. Frame 3:15 it bats it's paw at something on the ground; it's head gives a "dog-like" shake. I believet this is a dog retrieving a ball or chasing a small animal. Likely a "playing catch" scenario. Perhaps the deep field grass is contributing to the oddness of the dog. Using the foreground tree as a gauge, it's actually a small dog.
