  • What is wrong with you???? Dubbing this song is just soooo wrong. The proper sound track should be ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST.

  • I am joking about Gilligan but seriously as a teenager in the mid 60s this song was one of my favorites and it still is.

  • Gilligan you must pay attention to Babys Rain Falling for a fresh water supply for you. Gilligan you must also pay attention to Babys Wind Blowing for that one in a thousand chance of sailing off your island.

  • why did you overdub the gilligan's island clip with this song??? You ruined the clip. Fool.

  • Gilligan's Island just ruined a beautiful song. Gilligan's Island stunk back then and it still stinks now.

  • Simply just one of the best songs ever .

  • lol

  • I love to dance to this at work,lol j/k still I think it's a great song.

  • I was only 7 when this song first came out. Great song.

Great video too; especially with Gilligan's Island in the background.

  • Glenn Yarbourough did such a wonderful job on this song. One of the best of the 60's and there are so, so many of them.

    Thanks for posting.

  • lol, LOVE IT

  • Is DOBIE GILLIS still alive??? THANK you for the video and song!!

  • If you mean Bob Denver, no. He passed away from complications of throat cancer surgery about 5 years or so ago.

  • niflap..THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the update on BOB DENVER!! Regards...ERIC

  • Bob Denver wasn't Dobie Gillis

  • I forgot he was Maynard G Krebs on DG. my bad

  • It was 4 years ago, but who's counting?

  • Actually Dwayne Hickman just had a birthday within the past couple weeks

  • Original was by Glen Yarborough from Sturgis SD

Circa 1963. Don't know about the movie version.

    This version is an original.

  • Does anyone have a full copy of this song by the guy who a actually did the singing in the movie that Steve McQueen lip synched to?? That was alot better. I have the soundtrack album and could never figure out why they didn't use the version in the picture??

  • What is the connection between this song and Gilligan's Island? O, I love the song and I love the show, but don't get the mix.

  • - dude -

This is what you should see when you hear this song: watch?v=H09g3gZ7XAs

  • both were popular in 1965....!

  • I love the movie of the same name that this song is from starring a very young Steve McQueen.

I saw it as a very young girl and the cemetery scene stayed in my mind for years.

  • Hi Holly. I've always thought if I had a voice like Glen's I'd head off to the woods and sing myself to death. Have delighted in his singing since the Limeliters. Saw him once, in 1969 in Boise, Idaho, and will never forget it. How we both happened to be travelling through at the same time I'll never know. It's great to read he's around and well.

  • This beautiful song dates from my late teens.

Yeah, at 60 somethin' I am moved.

I wish you health and God's other blessings.

  • Gilligan getting water boarded

  • When I saw Steve McQueen in the movie of the same name I became a fan of his ever since. And the title song has stuck w/me forever, it's good to hear it again thanks to youtube. Long Live Mr. Cool Steve McQueen !

  • One of the most beautiful voices of my childhood. Thanks for posting. May Glenn and his talent live on forever. Regards Holly. Please give your Dad my love and appreciation.

  • Hey Gang, I'm Glenn's daughter Holly. It's great to read all your comments. Also, to BailedOut...Dad's doing just fine. He lives in Mexico now. Had some bad bouts with the flu last winter, but at 78, he's definitely going strong. His Dad lived to be 96, and his mother 100 so I have high hopes! Warm regards, Holly

  • Hi Holly, A girlfriend turned me on to Glenn Yarbrough in 1967. I was 21. Everytime I hear Glenn's voice, it takes me back to 1967.

Glad to hear Glenn is doing fine. Say hello from a Northwest fan.......

    Ciao,

    Tim

  • This is a song about life itself...What a

    classic!!

  • Hi Holly, This song - BTW Elmer Bernstein wrote it, NOT Rod McKuen - is one of my 2 favorites of your dad's (I saw the the movie once, it's eminently forgettable); along with McKuen's "Ain't You Glad You're Livin', Joe?" (also a movie theme song). On both those songs, and several others, your dad was partnered with the equally talented conductor David Gates. He also worked with Tommy Morgan (always with lively audience sing-alongs), Perry Botkin Jr., and the late Mort Garson.

  • Oops - I forgot credit to Ernie Sheldon as well.

  • Love your dad's music. Hope he is around for a lot more years.

  • Hello Holly. I'm in Australia & bought a LP of your Dad's music in the 1970s...but lost it long ago. I can find only a few of his songs on YouTube. I particularly like "Eternity"..

  • @HollyYarbrough Your dad has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard! I hope your he is doing great! I wish him excellent health. Long live the Limeliters!

  • The Song Came from the Movie

    Steve McQueen Lives

    God Bless Husqvarna Motorcycles

  • Steve McQueen lip synched it in the movie of the same name. Be great to see that on Y-Tube.

  • Glenn is very very very ill. "...I don't know now what waits for me, maybe heaven, maybe hell..." I'm guessing heaven could use his vocal talents. God Bless you, Glenn.

  • A timeless song but Gilligans Island just messes the whole thing up. LOL! beautiful song.

  • I thought the singer was Gene Pitney when I first heard this song. He sure sounds a lot like Gene.

  • I had an 8-track of this. :D I bought it when I got my first car: a 1978 Cadillac Seville. It had an AM/FM stereo with an 8-track tape player, lol. That was in 1998

  • this sounds like gene pitney..what do you think?

  • I made a video with a Gene Pitney song too! Glenn & Gene were/are both great singers!

  • @GingerGilligan

    Glen Yarbrough

  • The guy singing this is Glen Yarborough. The was a movie in the sixties with the name "Baby, the rain must fall". I think this was the closing song.

  • Actually, it does!

  • Terrific voice. Glenn Yarbrough is the best ...

  • I loved this song when I was a little girl & over 30 years later I love it even more. I listen to this video every night. What a voice!!!

  • Then, you would love his album of all Rod McKuen's poems / songs.

  • Yes, I often have thought, all these years, of Gilligan's Island when listening to this majestic sounding song about accepting life's journeys without fear, written by Ernie Sheldon (I believe) and sung by the great Glenn Yarbrough.

Dude, what IS this!? You're off your rocker! (I know, 'cause I fell of mine long ago!) Seriously, THAT is one DERANGED combination! I would have NEVER thought of that! I guess the skipper's posturing did it for ya, huh? wow. talk about a trip.

  • The Skipper sang this song?

    WOW! Such a talent!

WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE!!!!!!!!

  • glenn did Rod McEwen's stuff, absolutely brilliantly

  • good stuff

  • sure why not both gilligans island and the song are cool and around the same time too

  • Such a great voice... I really liked his work in the Animated Return of the King movie.

  • he also did the songs "Roads go ever ever on" and "the greatest adventure" for the hobbit. absolutely wonderful songs. thanks for posting!

  • That's right! He did! I wish I could find those movies... I'd like to watch them again badly.

  • if you check ebay thats where I got my copies. the hobbit was only 3 bucks including shipping so cool.

  • Aww. I got my copy of the hobbit and of return of the king for a buck each at shoprite. WOO!

  • I am a huge Glenn Yarbrough fan!! At first I thought this was too weird...then it struck me as quite funny!!! Well done.

  • The singer is the legendary Glen Yarbrough; a great song but in this context, rather strange.
