I have watched my cat calculate a jump. I have watched my cat solve not so simple spacial problems. Dogs are trainable, cats are independent "thinkers". I love them both.

Cats are far more independent and can take care of themselves better.
- Provide adequate food and water and a cat can be left home alone for a few days while you go on vacation. Dogs can't.
- Cats can be toilet trained.
- Dogs will take a command, cats do as "they" please.
- Cats give themselves a bath.
- Although a dog will offer you safety, a cat will protect itself

@AeneidosJunen part 1 i would say house trained is smart -_- and cats have smaller bodies so they can HERDLY protect unless they usally have bigger bones or thicker skin to they can start a fight without hurting themself as much. My cat used to fectch but the toy worm was too big and they have SMALLER teeth, not ment for biting people or things like dogs do. accully i have a 2 chihuahuas and my cats chase it but they dont fight back but they in general have thicker skine, denser bones,

The intelligence of choosing whether to leave your friend or not, is hard for dogs and cats.(The Japan Link) The other link there have been numerous cases of feline cats such as the cougar in the other link I gave you of a boy or girl attacked, and the DOG comes out and choose to save it. It is rare that it happens , thats why its on the news but it is more far common than cats.
Even, cats have never been saving any lives that has been shown.
