farmers needed to pull alot bigger equipment and the tractor power wasn't keeping pace, also many farmers couldn't afford the tractors even if they were available. So the cheaper way to go was to put a couple of them together. And actually they found that 2 or 3 , 100 hp tractors could pull more then a 200 or 300 hp tractor
