  • I was the biggest fan of Kimber but after two 1911s. I refuse to sell one of them due to it being a safety concern for the guy buying

  • My favorite Kimber is the full size Pro Raptor II in stainless. Beautiful gun with those sweet looking scales on the slide and wood grips :)

  • My dad has a Kimber Ultra Carry and you're shooting this Kimber like you have unlimited ammo; my dad goes sparingly on his :) I like how you have quite a lot of ammo.

  • Very Accurate

  • How many rounds you put through it in this video hickok?

  • looks like a great gun but what 1911 maker would you say gives you the most bang for your buck in terms of durability and function?

  • im a huge glock fan i own a 23 40 cal and a 36 .45 acp. but i do love this kimber .45. get back at me hicko have a few questions

  • Wow that is sexy!

  • While the kimber warrior in this confing. is the sexiest handgun ever created in my mind.

All never own it! a grand for a handgun? no thanks all own four Rock islands before i own one of these.

  • @FullmetaljacketJ with 4 rocks you can get 1 kimber and 1000 rounds of ammo lol

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 rock islands run 290-370 for the model i like.

  • @FullmetaljacketJ wow then you can throw in some magazine too while your at it..lol

  • @15fad2011 Welcome the glock family lol

  • I tried desperately not to love the Glock but dammit they really are the best. Shame really as 19911's a beautiful guns.

  • My first 1911 was a basic Kimber Custom II. Crappy sights, and the model the paperwork was done on had a loose mag release spring assembly from the factory. Luckily the shop had two others, so I just picked out another one. I had heard you have to run a bunch of rounds through them to break them in but mine was great out of the box. I'd definately reccomend them. I have since sold it as I got my carry permit and the Glock does the job easier for me.

  • Hickok45 how many yards away is the gong?

  • @NELSONJACOBSON Check out his range tour videos, he discusses all of the distances, and size of the targets, but it's roughly 80 yards

  • @CelticRoad oh ok thanks man

  • @CelticRoad oh ok thanks man

  • @NELSONJACOBSON Watch the FAQ videos

  • I got a kimber 2 years ago. I did the proper 500 round break in with 230 grain ball ammo at first and it runs with everything now. Its a custom tle 2 I've even shot wolf through it. I heard a bunch of people had problems awhile back. With the slide release and I even saw a guy at an action steel that had this issue. And it turned out kimber had a recall on these. It was in the warrior ones. But they sent him a new slide release and it works fine now.

  • I just bought two kimbers, ultra plus and a custom crimson. Put about 500 rounds in each one. Both perfect and shoot great. Next week I will order a full size one just to add to my collection.

  • Any 1911 is a good pistol in my opinion

  • Love it! nice lookin gun. love the way it shoots! (i've shot a kimber maybe 4 times) Normally shoot a 45 colt

  • I noticed that when the slide is to the rear, only the barrel protrudes. On the Kimber Custom, the Barrell protrudes and then a guide rod (I think thats what it is). What is the difference between the two set ups? Is one better?

  • @ADROKMCA one of them has a full length guide rod. if you dont have the full length rod then you have a barrel bushing and the gun can be taken down with out tools. with the full length you need a small tool to disassemble the gun, a full length rod is supposed to be better. honestly i cant tell you if it really is.

  • @DominicanOps I own a Kimber Custom Crimson Carry II I paid $1100 for and I love it! If you have the money to spend they are worth getting!

  • Is this weapon worth the price? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

  • @DominicanOps Shot my buddy's Custom, along with his Sig and Baretta on the same day. The Kimber is definitely on my wish list.

  • Pena que nao posso ter uma dessas no meu País.

  • Im self lubricating ;)

  • @hickok45 Custom Crismon Carry II???

  • @hickok45 Kimber crimson carry ultra!!!!

  • A good 1911 is gonna cost ya around $1,000 and up. It's not a kids toy. It's a real gun with 100 years of history and has been used in almost every war we've been in. It has a natural point of aim you will not find in many hand guns. Kimber builds em tight for a reason. It's not a plastic throw away gun. You will have to break it in to get it to loosen up. These guns are made to have and shoot for a lifetime. Something to pass down to your kids or grandkids. The 45's we were issued when I was a

  • @Mklawson68 agreed. Price dictates quality. I own a kimber super carry custom and it is an unmatched high quality hand made machine.

  • I've had mine for over 5yrs, daily carry. I've added a front strap finger groove grip by Hogue I believe and that really improved the accuracy. I have really sweaty hands at times and they really helped with that. I've added the full length SS guide rod and 18lb spring, shokbuff, extended mag release and slide release. Of course a bunch of different grips for it, I mean it's a 1911 you gotta make pretty at times. I have all Wilson Combat mags 8rnd. A little pricey new. I got mine used with a lo

  • Kimber makes a great gun but you should try out a Les Baer Premier II with the 1 1/2inch guarantee. If it's new you will have to horse that slide back but I think you'll fall in love with it in the end. (Expect jams with it before the break in because Les Baers are locked up tight)

  • self-lubricating? reminds me of something i luv to...

  • Even though I use proper technique, the gun (rifle or pistol) always shakes slightly so that I cant hit precise or far targets. what could I do to stop this. Im on the JROTC rifle team at my school and would like to get expert qualification.

  • Hm....No serrations on the front or rear housing for $1400?...sucks.

  • @WhoChrisLiu The mainspring housing is checkered, and the front isn't, as is the norm on all the pistols developed for the MARSOC .45 contest. I believe the lack of front strap checkering and the "peanut" grips were all developed with gloved shooters in mind. Not much that your glove will get snagged on.

  • Very nice video. I've had a Kimber ultra elite for 15 years and it's always been a joy to shoot... very, very accurate. I've heard that some of the newer Kimber are not as quality as the older stuff but bought a TLE recently and it didn't have any issues. Now I want a Warrior! :D

  • I have the Kimber Warrior and Glock 23 I have carried the glock for 9 years the Kimber is new! I had a few malfunctions at first ang Kimber fixed them. Now it is perfect. I'm not sure which one I like better the Kimber is accurate and hard hitting and so is the Glock. I am pleased with both but I have to say the Glock is malfunction free from day 1. The Kimber took some fine tuning. I am Happy with both. Thanks for you videos and Glock On! All the best! Dennis

  • I like Kimber I find their pricing to be outlandish though

  • @MrTRUCID0 well it is a very nice m1911 but mmm check out springfield armory or colt

  • @MrTRUCID0 lol, you should check out Nighthawk Custom, or Les Baer, or Ed brown.

  • did anyone else hear the random gunshot at 3:06?? who's trying to steal Hickok's spotlight!!

  • @PIG2285 wouldn't be surprised if it was tnoutdoors9 =P

  • Hi:

Can you compare with the Springfield 1911TRP(PC9105LP)? Thanks

  • The Kimber 1911 is a fine piece. I have used it a few times at the range and works nice. Expensive though. Look into the Smith and Wesson 1911. Fit and feel is just as good and currently costs less than the Kimber. Also the Ruger is getting some nice feedback, but have not had a chance to test one yet. If buying one, just rent it at a local pistol range if possible. I am waiting to see Ruger before I buy. S&W is ahead of others though.

  • Hickok,

I know you like Glocks a lot, but every time you pick up a 1911, there's a gleam in your eyes that a Glock doesn't seem to give. Something tells me the 1911 is a special place in your heart. :)

  • i love my Kimber 1911 but i will say i had to put 300 rounds through it to get it loosened up and i did have to toss out the factory mags they were junk and i also put in an aftermarket recoil spring and its been flawless since then i would recommend putting in a new recoil spring right away because the factory spring wares out after about 1000 rounds but if you make these adjustments u will be fine........or just get a springfield or a smith n u wont have to do any necessary part swaps

  • I mean the factory .45 ammo, not gun.

  • I hate factory .45.

  • Hi...love all your vids! i was wondering what you think about airsort replicas for those of us that live in europe and can´t get use ¨real¨firearms. rob

  • Great shooting man I have a Kimber 1911 and I love it, I must say I do not have any feed jams and I use the mags from Kimber. Thank's for showing this video.

  • Could you please review the Kimber Solo Carry STS?

  • Thanks for the Kimber video. I have a pro carry and a Custom Target. No real problems aside from replacing the factory mags .I got some spontaneous rust on my Pro Carry's barrel but cleaned it up easily enough.Nice shooting by the way.

  • Kimber is a great gun. The tight specs that it is manufactured with leads to break in issues and as such may frustrate people. Have several and love them!

  • random gunshot at 3:05

  • If you can find a Kimber that will run with out malfunctions, they are super accurate. My problem is if it doesn't run out of the box, Kimbers CS is the worst of any manufacture. They make pretty guns but for the money I will buy another brand! Glad that one shot for ya.

  • isnt this an m1911?

  • @bananasqueek The 1911 is so often copied that all of them are called 1911 style.

  • @ 3:05 what was that??? someone hunting on your property?

  • Great video, I have been waiting for you to review a kimber. I am thinking about buying a tactical ultra ii and I am doing all the research I can before I commit. It truly is a beautiful gun, I just want to know if it shoots as well as it looks.

  • Beautiful gun, although I don't like rails. Shot several Kimbers with varying results, all have been very accurate. I know about the 500 round break in period and to each is own. To me spending another $100 plus reloading or $200 for factory ammo to hopefully consider a $1400 gun combat reliable is a little too much. I'll stick with a Glock 19, which is compact enough to daily carry and large enough for home defense.

  • Good stuff. Didn't miss the slow mo though.

  • I own a Kimber Gold Match series I and a Kimber Covert Stainless both in 45ACP.

Like others, I feel most Kimbers need a 300-500 round break in period before you can critique the pistol for accuracy and reliability. Most 45's with tight tolerances will be similar. If your looking for a pistol that is perfect "out of the box" you should not be looking for a 1911 (This goes for Wilson, Les Baer, Nighthawk, Ed Brown etc.). The 1911 simply takes rounds shot through to work itself in.

  • Also one thing to note. Kimber Manufacturing bought Jerico in 1996. So you could say that Kimber now manufacturer Wilson Combat frames also, of course Wilson puts their custom touches on their guns and the manufacturing specs could also be different, but made by the same company and in AMERICA.

  • Comment removed

  • I own two Kimbers. One thing to note about Kimbers are the tight tolerances the are built under. The owners manual says to shoot 500 rounds though each gun for break in. One of my Kimbers took all 500 rounds before problems(occasional stove piping) to break in, the other stopped at 400 rounds. One mag 7 round mag. All of my other mags were factory Kimber mags, but 8 round mags. All of my stove pipe's came on the last round of the 7 round mag. Switched it out to an 8 and no more problems every.

  • When are you going to use the Glock G25???

  • My experience is that I had a Kimber that would not feed quality ammo, it was over priced for what I got, the finish wore terribly, the factory mags were junk, plastic main spring housing, and thats what I have to say about the Kimber Custom II. It is now a fancy, high priced paper weight. I could have found something better to spend 800$ hard earned dollars on.

  • Nothing feels better to me than a good 1911. They all work the same, but they are not all equal. Problem with all well built 1911s. The Price. IMO Kimber, Springfield are pretty much equal ground. Wilson, Ed Brown next level. Most of the low level imports not good fit and finish. Gotta shoot ball or have the feed ramp polished and throated. Trying to convert myself to being a glock fan cause of the price. They feel good. I just can't shoot them well.

  • Hickok45, ho far up the hill is that "gong?" That's some really fine shooting to nail that fairly consistently! Do you find you have to adjust the aim point for different callibers of guns? Cool reviews! I added you to my subscribed list for your really fun reviews.

  • That pistol looks like another M1911 knockoff.

  • hickock45 goes through .45 ACP like a fat kid with candy

  • I think Kimbers biggest hit is on price. I don't own a Kimber but if they were a little more affordable, I would have no problem considering it as a top choice. The 1911 I have was bought a long time ago for about $400 and it works great (save for weak mag springs). I think Kimber makes high quality firearms but for the price, $1200-1500 I would probably look to some other companies for value. Take Care Hickok45. Great Video Sir.

  • that's one accurate pistol dang

  • like the oiler shirt...go blue

  • any 38 super in your collection to compare to the 9mm .40 & .45? there's not many videos around here about that round...

  • I've shot my cousin's kimber warrior. No complaints. It felt very nice in hand, nice trigger, the mag release, safety and slide release all felt very ergonomic. Recoil was pretty moderate. The only thing is that the $1000+ price seems a bit hard to justify.

  • @splewy you should see the Wilson Combat Ms. Sentinel and Sentinel models, both retail over 3700 bucks. Quality is quality, atleast in my book. Ive fired older 1911s and some of the cheaper line models like the RIA, and i gotta tell you, i notice the difference in guns. I own and carry an Ed Brown Kobra Carry and between that and my RIA, theres a major difference in feel.

  • @MissyMarieN Oh I have no doubt that they are very high quality guns, I'm just saying that I personally don't think I could justify spending 1000+ on one considering I could get another .45 ACP pistol like a SIG P220 or a S&W 1911 for a few hundred dollars cheaper. I'm not saying either of the aforementioned pistols are better and I'm not knocking the Kimber in an way, I'm just saying they cost a bit more than I'd be willing to pay for a pistol.

  • @splewy True. I had to sell a couple pistols to be able to afford my Ed Brown. Personally i believe it was worth the money spent, but i dont think i could justify the price on the Ms. Sentinel, despite how much i like the gun haha.

  • thanks for getting the 1911 in .45 APC. everything else is sin IMO

  • Aging your ammo in some fine spanish cedar.

  • Haha, is that a La Flor Dominicana box?! :)

  • I have a Kimber costume 2. It feeds well and shots smoothly. I however have had a big issue with the bluing. If I carry it and happen to sweat at all the whole thing becomes covered in rust. As soon as I clean it and oil it everything is ok, but I expected more out of a name like Kimber. Perhaps it is what I get for buying one of their lower end models, but it was still over six hundred

  • You should be on top shot haha, im sure im not the first to say that

  • Personally, I think Kimber makes an amazing 1911, I own two myself, but there are a lot of other amazing 1911s out there that I like just as much if not better. The Kimber also seems to have a longer break in period, with Kimbers you need to put about 500 rounds through them before it is really ready to go.

  • I've heard a lot knocking Kimber I for one have not had any feed issue, but have had a problem with knight sites popping out other then that it's a awsome gun

  • Who films for you?

  • @jewpower42 His son, John.

  • Man! Hickok you are one excellent pistol shooter!

  • Another very informative video. Thanks for your consistently good work. How about reviewing some lightweight 1911s that many of us carry these days: Colt Wiley Clapp Wilson LW compact carry Ed Brown LW cpmmander Colt CCO Talo Wilson LW pro models Kimber LW models Ed Brown LW models ETC Keep up the good work." Life is gooooood."
  • you should get on that top shot show, i bet you would win

  • You might also try Tripp Research mags, Hickok.

  • I didnt know there were other kinds of guns I thought there was only glock ;]

  • Hickok, my friend had one in 9mm, it was the biggest heap of crap ever for $1300, stove piped all the time, casing would expand to much in the barrel and get stuck every probably 20 rounds. Apparently they make them WAY to tight for a 1911, how ever i hear that in .45 there great. People say 9mm 1911s all such but the springfield 1911 9mm`s people say are the ducks nuts. Could you do a reivew on a 1911 9mm? I think it would be VERY different....

  • There's always a Wilson Combat ETM in my 1911 :)

  • Mr. Hickok, thank you for the kimber video! i do have the kimber warrior ll with some upgrades and i use it for competition and it have NOT failed me yet in over 4 years of shooting it! LOVE THE VIDEO, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

  • getting old, you seem stressed :(

  • Still waiting for FN Five-Seven review!!

  • What a beautiful gun.

  • this kimber is a disgrace to 1911s. they should sell their guns on a much cheaper price.

  • hey hickok. love your channel. i know you get a lot of requests but have you ever handled a cz-75 sp01 with the manual safety. im interested in picking one up and was wondering if you had experience with any cz products. thank you for your time

  • i think that kimbers are nice but i also think that there over priced what do you think is better a kimber or the ruger sr1911

  • @azickefoose2009 I have to go with Ruger. Mainly due to the fact Ruger has a lifetime warranty on all of their firearms whereas Kimber has a one year warranty. I'm also a big fan of Ruger, not to knock of Kimber. They make fantastic firearms, but I wish they have a lifetime warranty. I'm more partial to Ruger like hickok is to Glock.

  • hey hickok, do you think that on some snowy day this winter you could make a vid with the tokarev svt 40 in its natural environment? that would be sweet =)

  • 1 more mag ,1 more mag ...

  • hey Hickok, can you make a video with a mac-11?

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but this looks like a fairly large pistol for carry. Unless I misunderstood what Hickok said, this is advertised as an ideal gun for carry.

  • Hey Hickok: You made the comment that the 1911 was more of a range gun for you. I just wonder: If Glocks were no longer made, what would be your next choice for a carry/self defense gun?

  • i think i hear some return fire @ 3:07

  • My Kimber Custom TLE is the same way. No 6o'clock hold. Has to be right on, half-covering what you want to hit.

  • What a beautiful gun, wish we had nice guns in Australia. But noooo, our government has pretty much banned everything gun related. Even Airsoft..

    /cries

  • WTF was that in the background sound at 3:00-3:15mins????

  • I'm relatively new to the gun world, and I've been watching gun videos for about 6 months, (hikcock45, nutnfancy, armorychannel, armorygould, fistoflegend1 etc...) and from what I gather Kimber are really "pretty" gun, but tend to jam. Is this a safe assumption to make?

Just in case anyone is wondering I'm leaning toward sig229e2 as my first gun incase anyone has a comment about it

  • if hickock could bowl with a gun, he would get a strike every time

  • Kimber 1911's <3

  • Thats a beautiful pistol!

  • "their ulgy faces need to be knocked down... that's what I do." lol nice one

  • Hickok, you need to get yourself on Top Shot. It would make that show more fun to watch

  • Very nice looking Kimber. Thanks to your friend for the load of the .45 so you could make this cool video. I shot a Kimber Pro Carry at my local gun range (rental) and it shoot very nice. It had a very sweet tigger and shot very smooth. Great video!

  • My first handgun was a Kimber Custom 2, when they still had the two piece extractor. I had problems with all types of factory ammo. I used Kimber mags and Wilson combat and both had similar issues. Sent it back 2-3 times and they sent me a new one with the internal extractor. After that i didn't have any issues, I still have the gun and won't part with it. It always felt right when I shot it in competition.

  • With all the gun reviews you do you would think a gun company would come up to you and ask for you to help them design a gun. The hickok45 model

  • Hickok45 do u make your own targets or do u buy them?

  • @BigIceWolf90 he buys dem

  • Meh.

  • "I can't resist the Animals!" LOL!!! You crack me up!

  • So many mags

  • kimbers look great fit and finish. and most shoot dam nice. but wayyyyy out of my price range for something that does the same thing for less.. after all if u shoot a bad guy hes not going to care if it comes from a 1500 gun or a 600 dollar gun

  • Fine job as always Hickock........ever had a request to review the Rock Island Armory 1911? I have the Officer's model and I'd love to see your take on it.

  • I have a Kimber, Colt, Sig Sauer...1911. I want to have a 1911 from all major manufactures to have a fair evaluation of all of them. Saving for a Springfield 1911. So far I have about 1000 rounds ran through all 3 of my 1911's. Kimber did jam about 5 times in the first 500 rounds but has run flawlessly after. My Colt jammed about 3 times in the first 300 rounds but also no issues after, and the Sig has not had one jam. I'm the most accurate with my Colt, Kimber, then Sig. I love them all.

  • My brother has a Kimber Crimson Carry Pro II, and its an amazing shooter. We had some issues until about 500-600 rounds were ran through it. Been wanting to shoot the Warrior for some time. I think part of the reason for the negative reviews is people who dont realize that most Kimbers need to be broken in. Great video :).

  • do some cheap guns like hi point and cobra

  • still waiting for a USP .45 or a HK .45 review ;D

  • @DarianXsXCrans, I would like to do a video with the H&K .45. It's just pretty expensive to pick one up as an afterthought. :-) I'll eventually run one down maybe.

  • @hickok45 Would be most pleasing if you "ran" one down and made a video =)

  • A H&K USP that is

  • @SmiljanTT , I'd have to look at them again. As I recall the USP had larger controls and such, or maybe I just dreamed that. :-) I'd be more interested in whatever is the most streamlined, less busy version of an H&K .45. The Glock has me spoiled - can't handle big levers and controls, at least on something I might want to keep.

  • @hickok45 Yes, yes, Heckler & Koch USP, please. Many thanks for your videos from Germany!!

  • @hickok45 Why do you always check if the magazines in when your about to shoot. And why do you rub your hands together sometimes when your done? :-)

  • @hickok45 Sir, do you have a 1903 Springfield video yet? I'm talking about the bolt-action

  • 3:06 not thunder

  • Kimber Custom Covert 2 owner here. And I love to shoot that gun. It took about 300 rounds to break in and it hasn't had 1 problem since. I own two other .45's and the Kimber is my favorite by far. Also I run Kim Pro mags without a hiccup. I know there have been some people with issues out there but not as many as one might think. I have found quite a few people trash talking Kimber but have never actually owned one or even shot one themselves. You always get the "no, but I knew a guy" story.

  • Kimber is overpriced and overrated. Maybe they used to be good, but they aren't now. Heck, the North Carolina L.E. got rid of their $1100 models because they jammed so much and literally fell apart. What do you expect for only $1100 I guess.

  • i've never really had a 1911. i had an old colt for a while but never shot it. but im really interested.. im a pretty religious heckler and koch fan... so how bad is the break in period really.. in general with a higher end 1911???

  • In my opinion, Kimbers are the closet thing to a custom handgun in mass produced handgun.

  • Damn that thing got hung up a lot! Awesome shooting as always but the malfunctioning is unacceptable, especially for such an expensive gun.

  • check me out guys plz im going to be putting up new vids

    plz subscribe thanks

  • Bubbag36 here...Love your videos! and your camera : -)

  • I keep hearing about a "break in" period for Kimbers...like 4-500 rounds? That troubles me. Guns should be reliable out of the box. Period.

  • @jasosak It's true that my Kimber needed about 500 rounds to break in, but it ran like a Swiss watch for years after that. I like to shoot it better than anything else I can think of, so you get what you get.

  • Lol

Hickok: Haha oh boy shoot......HEY!!. bowling pins (bang bang) I love to bowl. (bang Bang)

I LOVE to bowl nothing like it.

  • Comment removed

  • @escapefate702 It's a very different kind of gun, with an advertised brake in period of over 700 rounds. Also, that was the magazine that caused the malfunction.

  • I like para ordnance myself!

  • Great guns but pricey as heck! I'll stay with my Glock.

  • IMO Kimber is overpriced junk. I know 2 people that own one and it is nothing more than a pretty jammatic (Jams). $1400.00 and Hickok's jammed on the first mag this is unacceptable (IMO). Also Hickok had to keep reminding himself to aim high. That thing should be dialed in. I'll stick with my ODI Viking ($600.00). I've purposly used what I thought were junk mags in it and it never has jammed on me (over 22yrs ownership). Sight alignment goes right where I aimand I'm nowhere near Hickok's skills.

  • @M14Mann I wish you people hating on this gun would pay attention to the video. The Magazines were old. Maybe that had something to do with it? Hickok even insinuates to go easy on the gun itself. There is plenty of testimony of Kimbers working like clockwork before and after their break-in period. You really shouldn't talk unless you have had nothing but trouble with your Kimber and poor repairs from the shop.

  • Comment removed

  • @Noremorse10 $1400.00 and there needs to be a break-in period? My Viking never had a "Break-in period" nor did my Series 70 Colt Combat Gov. These guns never had to go to the shop. Know why? answer there not junk. How do you explain Hickok reminding himself to aim high. He was telling us where he was aiming and it was horrible or maybe there's a "Break-in Period" for an inaccurate weapon. I wouldn't own a Kimber, as I said before I've known 2 others that have and it's a Jammatic.

  • @M14Mann Amen to that. I worked for a gun store for three years, we did 42 gun shows a year...never had a more problematic design (many, many failures) and it seems that the more costly the finished product (insert 1911 of your choice) the more problems there were. Feed ramps, slides galling, magazines, very picky on the ammo weight and bullet design...you name it. I still love the 1911, just not for daily carry or for that critical moment that requires no guess work.

  • hey, hickok45, what happened to your finger?
