  • Found this on bolesblues: Where is Fiona Apple and why isn't she singing? The song is a great answer - never heard it that way. Thanks. All the same, I won't give up hoping for something unfamiliar. Songwriters with this kind of talent AND this voice are rare jewels!

  • wtf is that thing

  • way better than the album version!

  • where can i get all the unreleased versions and songs?

  • @yakkuno break the law

  • oh how i adore her. <3

p,s check my covers if you're bored? x

  • Fiona Apple is my fucking hero! I don't know what I'd do without her music... I can relate to her songs so much.

  • i always understood "maladies" instead of "melodies", and i think it makes much more sense to me... please please please, no more maladies.

  • The emotion of the 2nd time she says, "steady going nowhere" makes this version my preferred pick. I actually used to listen to this version but with the tempo adjusted 5% faster. So i guess I found this version just a tad too slow for my taste but still an awesome artist, hands down.

  • i wish she would've released both verions ... just have an alternate version, artists do that sometimes

  • I like the other version better. This feels "stumbly" haha I like that word... stumbly.

  • @NapsAboveWaterfalls It's supposed to feel "stumbly" .... she's "steady, steady, steady..." aka not steady at all.

  • @fragglerokr exactly, the other one is too polished this sounds right. its true Fiona

The unreleased tracks remind me of When The Pawn which Brion worked on. The Released stuff was too pretty still good but not as jolting as the first versions

  • unreleased version is way better, even though the sounds sucks.

But it's true that Fiona said she thought her music was being lost in this production. I know what she means - the unreleased version is more of a collaboration between Fiona and Jon Brion. It's an awesome collaboration, though!

  • Hands down, Fiona's voice has the most emotion from ALL singers. Goodness, she is brilliant.

  • this is probably the only unreleased version i like

  • i think you have it twisted. fiona was unsatisfied with jon brion's version (the originals). In an interview she said it was because she felt her music was getting lost in all this instrumentation. So she asked her record company if she could redo them, and thats when she had problems with her label. The version released is HER version, as in she had more say in its production and i guess felt it represented her better than the original versions

  • i like the realeased songs much better. The sound is not good, and plus we don't hear her voice very clearly. that's my opinion, but i dont really understand why people prefer the unrealed versions. i think that more a questions of ideas about records company than real music pleasure.. (doesn't lmean i support records company..but..)

  • Finally someone who got it right

  • @opaque89 Don't be an idiot. SONY FORCED Fiona to put out a compromised version of the album. The "unoffical" versions of the song are the real songs.

  • @janderson2000 Actually it's the other way around. The ones on the album are the ones Fiona wanted to release. She got her way.

  • @RandomNPC15 Yeah, right. You have no clue. Fiona lost all credibility with the Sony when she released when the pawn and went from 3+ million record sales with tidal to 600,000. SONY was not going to let Fiona do her music. THIS VERY SONG IS ABOUT THAT! Listen to the freekin' lyrics. The Jon Brion produced version is the REAL extraordinary machine. Fiona can't tell the truth about this... now. she probably will someday though.

  • @janderson2000 No WONDER!!! I ONLY like the unreleased versions...HELLLO! You can actually hear the piano, the acoustic-ness of the drums...the production of the unreleased songs is so rich and stellar--not to mention the vocals are FRESHER. the released version was tepid, bland and boxed-in...what a joke. EPIC SONY FAIL!

  • @opaque89 I'm kind of glad she wasn't please please pleased with the unreleased album. (Sorry for the pun lol)

As a result, we now have two versions each for some wonderful songs! :]

  • I've been looking all over for this song. I heard it on the radio and loved it.

  • its an absolute shame this doesnt have more views

  • this is one of the best song ever!!!!! and this version it's much better than the released version...thanks for the video, i hope she back soon!!!!!
