  • Isn't he sposed to b scary??

  • Good, but I thought Bill Sykes was meant to be scary? No offence.

Here is a better version of the song, although the one linked doesn't follow the rhythm nearly as well. A combination of these two would be perfect.

  • This Bill Sykes is not nearly as nasty as he should be, too much of a burly, pompous, haughty voice. He needs a gravely, nasty voice, not a beautiful singing voice. Excellent singing, just does not fit the Bill Sykes character.

  • im Bill in my schools musical!

  • I shall pass your kind words on to Charlie when I next see him - He will be thrilled with your remarks. F

  • This is one of the best versions of this song out there in my opinion. Many try to over play it and end up yelling almost the whole song. I love the control he has. His blow ups are not over the top and the softer way of singing makes him even MORE menacing and scary! GREAT job!!! Enjoyed it very much! :)

  • The song is included in the original stage show. I knew Ollie & he couldn't sing. The film was directed by his uncle, Sir Carol Reed so I expect that was the reason the song was omitted from the film

  • Why is Bill singing? in the 1968 Oliver musical Oliver Reed as Bill would never ever sing..

  • This is the only version I've found where the guy actually sticks to the rhythm and the correct pitches.

  • @LatteBoy123 ive found with this song that being erratic and out of rhythm kinda helps... it shows you just don't care and your fucking free.. because your bill sikes. Look at burn gorman for a fantastic example

  • @FutureComputing True, but my voice teacher is trying to get me to sing the pitches correctly before adding character inflections. I agree with your idea on the song, though.

  • arrah im playing the par as bill at school got to learn this. oh bugger

  • @mrpatty29

They don't come much scarier than Charlie (Bill Sykes)

  • @franciedonnellan Thats where you r wrong. there is this boy who plays bill in our oliver christmas play, and when i see him sing, i fall in love with his voice, and almost pee my pants when he looks at me in the song coz i am dancing in om pa pa

  • Good luck with your audition

  • thank god i found this i am auditioning for carver this song is the right version and u sang it right thank got

  • Wow. Im gonna base my auditon song for the school production of Oliver. Hope I get it.

  • Every success with your audition.

  • fantastic. I'm auditioning in my school for this part and using it as my guide

  • genius eye gouch and business in general.

  • His voice doesn't suit the part, it's too refined. I guess he was well too brought up proper.

  • This is fantastic. What a singer, what an actor.!!!

  • Many thanks for your kind words. I shall pass them on to Charlie (Bill Sykes)

  • Considering this is an amateur production im very impressed!

I have watched a few professional productions of this song and not all of them were as good as this.

  • heyy, this is actually pretty good =D yay, first comment!!
