  • I wonder how many know this was really built on a 1981 frame? Most of the dash is even from the 81 Vette. Look it up. A custom build.

  • it was "McBurnie Coachcraft" that did up the original Corvette/Ferrari cars for the TV show.

  • There were actually TWO of these faux-Ferrari Daytona Spyders in the show. Both were kit-cars using much earlier Chevy Corvette chassis. One was used primarily for inside camera and road shots while the other for beauty shots (drive-by's).

  • @MrTinago WHATEVER . . .

  • Both are stoned as hell!

  • Where is that museum? thanks

  • @jaimediet volo auto museum in volo, illinois. just went there over the weekend very cool.

  • This car is now standing at my uncles garage :)

  • Note the obvious Corvette one-piece seats sticking up bit higher than normal and lacking separate curved headrests of the genuine Daytona.

  • they blew it up in when Irish eyes are crying i think

  • This IS the mockup Corvette. You can see that there are no little triangle windows in the doors behind the windshield (which the original Daytona has). In the pilot episode ("brother's keeper") you can see an original Daytona. Rumour has it that the cars was rented from a dentist in Miami whe refused to make his car availavle for further episodes since the film team returned him the car in poor condition. So the fake Ferrari came into play.

  • Enzo Ferrari took legal action against this ferrari daytona mock-up. After he won, he himself gave two real Testarossas for the show for free.

  • @chronius9 Exactly.

  • This was not a real Ferrari Daytona. This car from the early 70s is worth almost a million dollars today. Even back in

the 80s they were worth a shit load of money. Don Johnsons was not real. His was a 1980 Corvette with the fibreglass body peeled off, and a black Ferrari Daytona shell put over the top. Enzo Ferreri was so upset about this the was going to take legal action. That is why the Testarossa took its place.

  • Beautiful car.

  • @rjc071 ain'ts thy bitches gots thy trailers hitches

  • Why they don't make such pieces of motor anymore!

  • I loved the Daytona, but as a kid I thought Sonny's replacement car, the white Testarosa was the baddest thing on the road. Tubbs drove the hottest convertible Cadillac. I think it was blue.

Miami Vice sucks by today's standards, but it was the best show on TV (Friday night) in the late 80s. Don't forget the go-fast speed boats, streetscapes, music (Jan Hammer) and incredible homes on the water.

  • @m11811one Sorry lad, but today's standards suck.

  • @Spugester26 yea, wasn't sure what the hell that guy was talking about. today's standards??

  • @isaachaze1 I dunno. People just don't get 70's-80's anymore.

  • fabri miami vice adaytona ebonita mas gosto mais da testarossa branca

  • MIAMI - VICE . WS

  • Sweet!

  • After 25 years this is still my dream car.

In the pilot a real Ferrari Daytona Spyder was used briefly. Crockett is sitting in it waiting for someone to come out of a restaurant. The Daytona shown later in the episode is the replica.

  • Even though that car is a fake it's still good looking. The base car was a 79 Vette. You can tell if you look close in some of the shows. The Corvette gauges are a giveaway.

  • @jammer96 we hadded thy itches ed

  • There was only 122 real 365 gts produced by ferrari. Today the price for a real one is above 1 million dollar...and yes the one in Miami Vice wasn't real. This is one of the rarest car in the world and of the Best!

  • dnt read this(cuz it really wrks). u will gt kissd on the nearest frieday by the love of ur life. 2mara wll b the bst day of ur life hwever if you dnt post ths comment 2 at least 3 vids u will die withn 2 days nw uv startd readn this dnt stp this is so scary snd ths ovr 2 5 vids in 143 mins when ur done press f6 nd ur crush's name will appear

  • Ferrari's were made in Kingsport TN?!? No, dum-dum, the "Ferrari" used in Miami Vice was a McBurnie replica built on a Corvette chassis. Sheesh. God bless dumb Rednecks.

  • It is true that the Ferrari Daytona Spyder used in most episodes of Miami Vice was a fake.

However, the Ferrari used in the Pilot episode of the series i.e. Brother's Keeper was real.

  • as a life long fan of MIAMI VICE its nice finding out new info and trivia bout the greatest series in tv history.

  • Yeah, I feel the same way.
