I used to listen to this when I was 14, and I must say it still sounds quite fresh, and I just love the sub pounding bassdrums and the sharp cymbals as well as the screaming solos!!!! Excellent stuff! Really a treat to have Simmons SDS drums on this style of music, with some excellent vocal effects to give this some great and evil vocal tones :P
Kind of ironic actually, that this band was one of the catalysts that started the whole "black/death metal" scene and is oft quoted as being one of the influential bands by many on the scene, when in fact this was nothing more than a gimmick, even a bit of a joke, by Virgin Steele members, and it has now taken on legendary status.
@givingheadtothedead This band is from New York and is actually Virgin Steele in disguise , David DeFeis and Edward Pursino. "Fire of Ecstasy" off The House of Atreus albums by Virgin Steele is actually a reworked (and much better) version of Call the Exorcist by Exorcist.
Epic album. I remember it well. Nobody knows much about these guys tho. I know they sold a ton of this album when it came out.... what happened to them? Weren't they from Canada?
@zombies8u It's the guys from Virgin Steele, after Jack Starr left they were tied up in legal shit, and recorded this under the name Exorcist and eventually got the rights to the name Virgin Steele back from Starr. But yeah this album is pretty cool.
Amazing \m/
