Nontheless he's the one with "out of the box"-playing, and Jason is a "steady" bassist, not too much nor to little.

I give Jason Newsted all the credit in the world... he stepped into a sh*tty situation, joining an established group that had just tragically lost their bassist ... he was pooped on by fans because he wasn't Cliff, he was pooped on by critics because he perhaps didn't have the "chops" that Cliff had and he was pooped on by Lars and James, who didn't see him as as an equal. He dealt with that throughout his time in Metallica, and it wasn't until he left that everyone realized how talented he was.

Their peformance in Seattle in 89 was totally the best fucking rock Concert that Metallica gave and Jason was the best in my opinion. The fans who were there Give Jason a lot of attention and respect.Jason wasn't Cliff but beacause of that he created his own style and was a perfect bass player for Metallica.Burton can never be replaced but i was not born when he died so in my opnion Jason Newsted was the best!

Guys, everyone who likes Metallica argues on bassists. What is wrong with you? Cliff was great, very original using both pick and his fingers. Then Jason who used pick, and played a mean bass, one of my inspirations to play bass. Then, he left, on his own, wasn't kicked out, he LEFT. Now we have Rob, who is amazing in his own way of having god's fingers. GET OVER IT.

I never liked Jason in Metallica... I know that people will want me to die a horrible death for saying it, but thats my opinion. Rob is such a better player. I have been following him since Suicidal Tendencies "Lights, Camera, Revolution" He is so talented, and more talented than Jason. More to offer than Jason, musically.
