preferisco la versione del requiem di verdi a quella di mozart. basta vedere il dies irae. mentre quest'ultimo parte impetuoso in un assalto musicale veloce e mastodontico, Verdi lo rende più straziante, come infatti dovrebbe essere. a pura foga in cui si ergono mastodontiche le voci accentuate, seguono momenti di calma tragica (anche per una scelta di re minore, presente anche nel mio pezzo preferito in assoluto: l'"A cenar teco" del don Giovanni di Mozart

I swear , some of you people are just really twisted! The LIBERA ME section of the Requiem was written for the Italian composer ROSSINI and the REQUIEM MASS was dedicated to and performed 1 yr after the death of Italian writer ALESSANDRO MANZONI.

Musically it sounds great but the edits are just horrible . If you want only the DIES IRAE and LIBERA ME then do them in their entirety NOT chopped up ! VERDI the composer would turn in his grave !

This music is PURE GENIUS. I saw/heard the intro of this same piece being used in one of the television trailers for the new upcoming Discovery Channel wildlife series "LIFE" (which airs this Sunday the 21st).

Travolgente, drammaticamente impetuoso, questa parte del Requiem puo' stare alla pari con Mozart, spettacolare ma nello stesso misurato... l'aspetto melodrammatico, teatrale e l'estroversione sentimentale tipicamente italiana prende il sopravvento rispetto all'introspezione del Requiem di Mozart, che io considero ragicamente rasserenante, la divina commedia della musica, a cui ha messo mano cielo e terra, in un equilibrio quanto mai lieve e instabile che porta al superbo e tremebondo Lacrimosa.

Mozart's Dies Irae is absolutely inferior than Verdi's one .

The whole Verdi's Requiem is so much better than Mozart's Requeim for having

a more inner majesty, composition coherence and writing accuracy, not mentioning the music that is more beautiful and complex in Verdi's requiem.

Mozart è un genio, perchè nella sua pseudo semplicità musicale, ha trovato, nel comporre e nell'armonizzare, sopratutto dei contrabbassi e dei violoncelli, emozionanti alchimie. E' importante conoscere queste cose, secondo me. Ed è indiscusso che il Lacrimosa del Requiem di Mozart, proprio grazie a quest'emozionanti congetture di composizione quasi trascendentali, è una porta verso Dio.
