  • I can't believe Newt has gotten as far as he has in this election cycle......wait, nevermind, Obama got elected as president.

  • This might be the first thing he has said that I agreed with. About half his answer anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • I know so many people who just blame everything they don't like on "liberals".

"Liberal" doesn't just mean "stuff I don't agree with", people. Try and learn what the opposing side ACTUALLY wants. Sometimes both sides want the same thing, especially when the thing we dislike has almost zero positive traits. (Like SOPA.)

  • Well...Hollywood does support SOPA, and that is what Gingrich was thinking of I'm sure. But of course lame-stream righty media wants to limit internet competition as well.

  • Gingrich did have a point... hollywood put a lot of money behind SOPA and they are largely liberal.

  • Just watch Gingrich's take on the Patriot Act from a few years back.

  • Like most polititians Newt is a whore. All of his beliefs are subject to public opinion. The only reason he would even oppose SOPA is because popular opinion was swaying towards dislike on that bill.

  • I think Newt just got all senile at the end, give him his little bit of credit.

  • Can i have your baby?

  • Gingrich against SOPA? No he's not. Ron Paul was the ONLY one of those candidates speaking out against SOPA before the blackout by Wikipedia, Reddit, and other sites, which resulted in a massive public outcry against the bill. The other candidates there are against bad press, such as supporting a bill that just got a ton of bad press.

  • @2000warrior He denies evolutionary science, environmental science and possibly the holocaust(But thats unsubstantiated). Is that the kind of man you want running your country?

  • Gingrich was both right and wrong in his depiction of SOPA's supporters. While it is very inaccurate that the media corporations that support SOPA are left wing, it is true that a majority of SOPA's supporters in congress are democrats. Also, when you look at the bill, it is something that the conservative Republican party would oppose, seeing that it is a such a large amount of government intervention into business.

  • @PinballWizard249 And what really broke SOPA was not so much us opposing it as it was one group of mega corporations vs another group of mega corporations and the one with greater influence won. If traditional media hadn't been stepping on new media's toes there, it very well could have passed.

  • About 00:45 Gingrinch says "we have a patent office, we have copyright law". Bill Clinton damaged both copyright & patent law by signing sweeping corporate protectionist intellectual property laws. Laws that affect both copyright & patent law. George W. Bush signed off on homeland security legislation that greatly curtailed, free speech & includes legislation that criminalizes decryption & reverse engineering. Obama signed off on File First Patent and the NDAA what rights, what recourse America?

  • Conservateev?

  • holy shit Newt's right about something !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Newt's just telling his audience what they want to hear, same as always.

  • He was right . look at bill maher on sopa

  • @lostbot101 faceplam

  • @lostbot101 In Bill Mahers defence, he DID say that he didnt know much about SOPA.

Why he wanted to throw in a subject in the program he didnt know much about, i have no idea ?

  • @brighteye007 Well the thing is Bill Maher . he always get upset when fox news dose this very thing.if are going to report something you need to have your facts on your subject...it's just seem to me he was upset because his movie didn't do big numbers.

well the movie wasn't that good.

  • @lostbot101 Bill Maher is a comedian. Equating his opinion with "what liberals think" is the beginning of a strawman argument.

  • @Tamizushi

Bill Maher is a retard who denies 911 was an inside job

    NWO scum

  • good vid, thanks!

  • This seems a bit nitpicky.

  • (continued...)

And you wonder who's out of touch.

  • Is the truth. Hollywood is the one who benefits from this, so they will only have more perks. And I think Murdoch should get called out, but he is a owner of News Corp so all he's thinking is his interest. Nevertheless, he's a moron.

Many -- including Comcast -- have come out supporting SOPA, but that's because of the lobbying and influence. For once let the people win. Yet Hollywood has no problem showing off their movies but this though is so evil than their movies. And they wonder who's ou

  • Most of Hollywood is left-wing so I don't see how his statement was dishonest? If you're upset that he mentioned liberals than at least remember that he specifically meant left-wing people in Hollywood. And Rupert Murdoch isn't Gingrich, the chairman of some company can have his own opinion separate from who the company hires. I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to call him dishonest.

  • Well duh they have to oppose SOPA, just like every semi-conscious American out there. That is, until they get elected, then they can do whatever the hell they want.

  • a victory in one country is good, but canada and europe still have their own similar problems to fight off

  • I just gained respect for Newt Gingrich.

  • wait huh? last i heard i thought you couldnt counter sue the govenement if they took down your website and you didnt have copyright issues? and newt is a full flesh lair. everything he or mitt says is a complete icing to the cake. newt couldnt even keep a commitment to his ex wife, you honestly think he can keep to his word to protect the Constitution? blah, all lies

  • The truth of the matter is that SOPA had FAR more support from Democrats than it did from Republicans. While this could mean that they earned more lobbying money, it clearly makes them the pro-Hollywood if anybody is.

I dislike Gingrich, but he's correct here on both counts. I find this surprising as well.

  • "But I want to know what you think..." - and another patronizing question with an incredibly obvious answer...

  • SOPA & PIPA are gone, but now we got ACTA & PCIPA.

Got any dirt on THEM to spread the word to Say NO to them?

  • @WackyModder84 america's already signed ACTA

  • @MurderousLlama

We can still stop the bill, dude.

The final debate for it is in June.

That gives plenty of time for us to stop it.

  • ok so im a republican and i am now going to vote for newt grenrich <or how ever the fuck you spell that) because of this video. if it makes you fell any better i voted for Obama cuz Sara Palin is a fucking idiot.

  • @nibulux

Ummm your a idiot. Theyr all against SOPA

  • I have an idea, liberal viewer why don't you post a video questioning President Obama using drones to kill innocent people around the world. I hate fox news as well we all know they lie, but why waste time chasing childish situations as such. EVERYONE KNOW FOX LIES, COVER SOMETHING THAT MATTERS IN THIS COUNTRY! I do respect what you do, but you could do more, do better, be an example all your doing is bashing fox, so you are by my definition no better than fox.

  • @landers1983 A strange definition you have. LiberalViewer doesn't lie, and to me, that's the main distinguishing factor between the two.

  • Tom Merritt actually gave my favorite analog: Shoplifting is a problem, but do we really want to hire FBL agents to frisk random teenagers in neighborhoods with Wall-Marts in it? And a stolen thing is lost twice, the thief won't buy it, and no one else can buy it.

If someone downloads a movie, and likes it and buys the DVD, that is an additional sale, SOME of their growth is due to exactly that. (especially in music)

  • Honestly: I think Newt realized what a bad Idea SOPA is, and he realized that "freedom" is the key word to bail him out.

Now him being right wing. (am I right now) he had to blame something Left wing for initiating the issue... Conservative is "sticking to old shit" right? then all the media REPS advocating this are conservatives in some form.

  • @LiberalViewer I don't know if you know this or not but TJ, TheAmazingAtheist, is working on getting a project funded called Not Productive. It is over at indiegogo (.) com (/) not (-) productive for all the details, video description, the perks of donating and other stuff about the project. So are you going to help out someone that help you out?

  • In Twenty years, maybe as little as ten, movie threaters will vanish like drive ins.

  • It's possible that Newt is actually that poorly informed...

  • Newt was right about SOPA but wasn't necessarily dishonest about its supporters, rather i believe he was just uninformed, as is sadly common these days with our politicians. And on the second question i will have to say that online media companies really aren't more powerful and my reasoning is this: Were they more powerful before SOPA was introduced? No. So by that logic a transient bill going through congress that just happened to threaten them wouldn't make them more powerful on its defeat.

  • 2nd Question - YES!!!

New Sharing is beating Old Controlling.

We want wind, wave, geothermal, hydrogen and solar energy over oil, coal, nuclear and gas.

    We want Shareware over Software.

We want Social Networking over Representative Government.

    We want Upcycling over Landfills.

The Old World Order (cause it ain't new) which is slow and inefficient but LARGE is losing to a nimble, efficient new type of business.

They're losing their grip and they cannot adapt to the change.

    The REAL NWO is coming!

  • 1st Question. No, Newt wasn't wrong about the supporters of SOPA and PIPA. It is old media/Hollywood. However, he didn't give a FULL characterization of the supporters. It's also software companies, like Microsoft. Google functions on shareware and receives money from advertisers. While music, pictures and video is an issue, the larger issue is software pirating. GOP won't discuss that.

  • SOPA means loser in swedish.

  • SOPA and PIPA are NOT DEAD. They have been shelved, probably to be bought back later.

  • SOUP in spanish. Lawl.

  • It will stop piracy, but by destroying the surface web, destroying the deep web, labelling Tor a "circumvention tool" and cutting off Chinese & Iranian people's ability to see the actual Internet, and doing the same to I2P, FreeNet and the like. In other words just about 99% of the internet dies, while the less than 1% of the internet consisting of foreign surface web sites becomes the ENTIRE WEB.

  • Fuck newt!

  • Too bad everyone is pushing ACTA now, seemingly worse than SOPA.

  • Dude, if you ever get tired of politics you should do voiceovers because your voice is epic

  • You kind of sound like Microsoft Sam hahah

  • Give him a sailor suit and he'd look JUST LIKE The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!!!

  • @TheUberAtheist O.O . duuuuude. he totaly would!!!!

  • @TheUberAtheist If that is true I would be terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought! : )

  • Too bad he is lying. They love it.

  • It's*

  • HANG SOPA

  • Lamar Smith, a Texas Republican, wrote SOPA and was trying to drive it through to approval. So Newt is being disingenuous about the supporters of SOPA. In fact, it is a literal cartel of big media paying off key congress reps to draft and pass this stuff.

That said, Newt is spot on about the effects SOPA would have, so that part of his answer is excellent.

  • newt is Machiavellian, he mixes honesty with lies when it is to his benefit. he does things to shape public perception of him, not because he believes the things he says

  • A broken clock that's wrong twice a day is still a broken clock.

  • the chinese firewall is coming

  • hegelian dialectic nothing more divide in order to conquer

  • It must have been a hard call for him to oppose SOPA after almost everyone was against it.

  • Support the GTFO act.

  • Democrat, Republican... Liberal, Conservative... It's all a show! A side show to keep the public busy while they do what they're handlers want. They are all on the same side! The side against public freedom! Look at the supporters of SOPA, they come from both sides almost equally. We just happened to catch them this time, it won't last long.

  • @peenfluteking All look like Ken dolls, besides Ron Paul, even if you don't agree with him you can tell he really means what he says.

  • I feel that these big corporations do deserve to protect their intellectual property. and so do bands and several others, however SOPA was simply not the correct way to do it since it gave way too much power to them. Its foolish to complain about not being able to steal without any form of punishment. But to go so far as to be able to arrest people over review footage or similar things is simply too much. Also they should give a proper warning first before destroying a website over 1 incident.

  • @peenfluteking I agree entirely. We live under a political structure which heavily favors the rich, prestigious members of society. American politics attracts the type of mindset that values power and the self above all other traits. They are the kinds of people who are willing to do what they have to to get what they want.

  • I like how you read out Rupert Murdoch's tweet. It really shows your objectivity on the matter under review.

  • I think the new trend is becoming to support whatever is populus publicly and push thru whatever legislation their financial supporters want from them. but to tell the truth Im not sure how "new" this trend really is. the problem is politicians no longer fear the consequences of their actions, because their no longer made to face these consequences. People shouldn't be afraid of their government, a government should be afraid of its people.

  • just pointing it out it was a republc9ian that purposed the bill , so not only is it a double standard but it shows which party at the moment is play9ing its stereotypes

  • Comment removed

  • He's just following the new trend. Most politicians are now opposing SOPA/PIPA now that the public has spoken out against it en mass. Because there's only one thing that matters more to them than corporate interests: getting elected/re-elected, and you can't do that without votes.

  • I think its very clear after the wikipedia blackout that backing SOPA is politically dangerous. However jumping on the bandwagon, from that bandwagon you can point to the real culprits the "left wingers". Its all just politics. That little answer = 1000 independents who will vote gingrich rather than Obama. Lets stop looking at the media companies and look at ....Walmart, and Dow Chemical. I think they have more power than Revlon or Hollywood executives

  • @LiberalViewer

I must agree with the people who have pointed out that conservative voters have been indoctrinated with this idea that the media has a liberal bias, so bashing media/Hollywood is good in their minds, even if it is hypocritcal to conservative ideology toward big business or even FOX News. (Or, in other words, media bashing is a giant red herring that conservative voters will swallow hook, line, and sinker!) So, yes, Newt was being dishonest.

  • Don't worry, Newt will secretly support Sopa in a more tricky version.

  • @peenfluteking Ron Paul seems genuine. He's still a little crazy though.

  • @ArmyOfWalrus agreed, but hes the only political dick worth electing! Its either ron paul or BUST! :O!

  • YouTube is Google Gingrich...

  • @peenfluteking Emotionless? Probably not. But the rest characterizes them pretty well. You don't get to a position of power in the US government without being a total scumbag. That's just the way our system works.

  • Here's what I think. The way our government and political system is melts my brain with unnecessary complications .

  • @peenfluteking lol have you heard wht newt did? he was married his wife had cancer he divorced her while she was dying for a younger wife. then he divorces the younger wife for a younger wife when she gets older rofl.

  • Modern clocks have an "AM" and "PM" marker. So a stopped clock is never right since the hands stop while time continues.

  • @crimsonlung You're being pointless for the sake of nothing important what so ever. This made some interesting arguments and you're arguing about a clock's face? Shut up dude

  • @aldlustofblackula That's my point you complete moron. It's NOT interesting, and if you find it interesting, your a moron. Moron.

  • ACTA means they are not going to stay more powerful for much longer...

  • Ron Paul has been opposed to SOPA since it was even mentioned but no one covers that shit. He's right about the bill AND it's supporters

  • @thekeithchannel He doesn't support the separation of church and state.

  • @thekeithchannel Ron Paul is great on a lot of his stand points but he's got some issues with his foreign policy that has some potential problems. thats why i dont intend to vote for him. i really dont like anyone this year i might not vote all together.

  • What are his issues with foreign policy..? I don't see how doing what the constitution says is a problem. Ron Paul isn't TOTALLY Anti-war. He just believes we should only go to with a declaration through congress like the constitution says. All of the other candidates want to illegally abuse their power as president and go to war as they please, like Obama. They basically think 'blowback' is a fairy tale when the CIA said themselves it's one of the root causes of violent acts. Dr. Paul doesn't

  • @thekeithchannel

    Obama is a Traitor

Ron Paul is not much better

  • @DeadJesus100 Yes. He's not the Messiah. He's just the lesser of whatever number of evils you have to choose between these days.

  • @joakeimmcgrath maybe but ron paul wants to stop social security and health care

so is a moron in his own right

  • @DeadJesus100 Quite so. Though he's a self-stated non-interventionalist so that may mean the end of those two wars you're currently involved in. Gain some, lose some.

Although this doesn't actually mean that he'll keep his promises if he gets elected. Politicians promise many things.

  • @DeadJesus100 With all due respect, if Ron Paul could institute a silver standard to replace our current system of monetized debt, we would all be living like rich people in America, we could replace social security with IRA's fit for a king. Would you really still want the US gov to plan your retirement? Not me..

  • @DeadJesus100 Not much better? That's like saying Ron Paul is a traitor. He's the only one fighting FOR the people not against them. You can tell he has no interest in being a powerful president. That's why Ron Paul's highest contributor is the US military and not Goldman Sachs like Obama and Romney. When Dr. Paul rides in planes, he rides in coach for god's sake.

  • @thekeithchannel Ron Paul also opposes the Civil Rights Act.

  • @MntlWard Because it conflicted with property rights. Private property is private property. You have the right to reject anyone to come onto your private property for any reason including race. It's not the right thing to do morally, but you should have the freedom to. Restaurants are private property and if they want to reject someone because of race, they should be aloud to. They will probably NEVER have customers but they should have the freedom to choose who gets to come onto their property.

  • Are we gonna ignore the fact that he probably only said that for the popularity points. Even one of those mentally challenged GOP s could see majority of people hate S.O.P..A. $1000 says he doesn't give two shits about S.O.P.A. but he knows the we hate it, so he hates it as far as we know.

  • It was a pathetic move to try and pin SOPA on the left wing. Left wing and Hollywood are not one combined entity.

  • Comment removed

  • thumbs up if theamazingatheist brought you here

  • Er... why is Romney eye-raping Gingrich?

  • What about ACTA now??

  • @artsygirl19 apparently ist already been signed :o

  • Comment removed

  • @IDMWEIGHTSIDM Why are you posting lies and propaganda on youtube?

Ron Paul said it has already failed this year but watch out for next year

  • Actually, his 40 second summary was pretty spot on. Coloring it as a leftist power play is grossly flawed. Regardless of party affiliation, the big backers of this thing are capitalists, simple and plain. They feel they're being ripped off, so they used their influence to get this thing in front of lawmakers. What strikes me as odd, is that this isn't really a capitalistic solution to the problem. Innovation in emerging markets is the solution, and they really haven't risen to that challenge.

  • @shlibookensteppah what you describe would involve them doing a lot of work and putting effort into their products. I don't see them doing that any more if they ever did.

  • @azurewrath2224 You are absolutely right. I don't see them "getting it" any time soon, and that's a real shame. It's not neurosurgery.

  • he was right...but he's still a pompous asshole

  • @peenfluteking Megaupload was taken down because it was a full blown profiting pirate site and they actively advertised that.

    Calm yourself down little boy.

  • @plutoniumdust then why isn't cnet being taken down? It's not about piracy, it's about control.

  • You people need to start actually reading these bills and taking time to think about how they are meant to be used and what they are for. No part of any corporation wants to 'destroy your internet' or restrict your rights or anything.

They are for the sole purpose of protecting copyright material and you need to accept that there needs to be power somewhere to stop pirates.

  • @plutoniumdust You're blind if you think SOPA or PIPA was only about stopping copyright. I read that bill to hell and back, and it was quite obvious what the bill was actually about. Anyone who has the interest of free speech would not support either of those bills, regardless of whether they protect copyright or not.

  • @johnnyf19 What part of SOPA or PIPA limited free speech? Please, I must have overlooked it.

Since you have read them to hell and back, you have 5minutes to respond and tell me.

  • @plutoniumdust Two parts, namely the part where it originally allowed DNS removal, and the part where it failed to define what a rogue website was. In short the vagueness of the bill overall basically would have allowed Hollywood to take down any website of their choosing on a whim's notice. I could go into more detail later, but I don't feel like flooding this video with comments at the moment.

  • @johnnyf19 And this just proves your idiocy. How else are they going to take down the website if it can't remove it from DNS? And how can they define a piracy website when they can take the form of anything? MegaUpload was a simple file sharing service that was used legitimately at the front, but upon inspection it was clearly aimed at piracy. Same with lots of things on the internet, they take form in lots of ways.

Defining them would leave SOPA useless.

    Fuck you for being dumb.

  • @plutoniumdust Fuck me for being dumb? No sir, FUCK YOU for being dumb. I can tell that you're obviously not understanding the logistics behind this bill at all, not only does it give them the power to remove any website due to the vagueness without due process, note WITHOUT due process, but it does little if any to cut down on pirating, since the pirates are easily tech savy enough to simply circumvent such a law. Hollywood knows this, and still lobbied to get it passed.

  • @johnnyf19 Why does that matter at all? Also the only thing alleged tech savvy pirates have is the Tor/Onion and that can easily be shut down.

You have no reason to oppose any of these bills so why are you acting out against them?

  • @plutoniumdust Lol at you not knowing about IRC, lol at you not knowing about DNS circumvention. You're just like these nutjobs trying to pass this shit, you don't have a damn clue how the internet actually works.

  • @plutoniumdust And why am I acting out against these bills? Because they don't provide protections of free speech or innovation on the internet. They basically allow Hollywood to muscle anyone they want around, and if you don't comply with their demands? Boom your site is gone no due process needed because the bill that was passed didn't protect that. That's all the reason I need to speak out against it, so now I have a question for you. Why do you support a bill like that?

  • @plutoniumdust Do some fucking research before you call other people dumb, because it's obvious you don't have a clue how Hollywood or technology works.

  • While the silicon valley is a rising star, it still doesn't have the entrenched lobbying power of hollywood.

I think it would take something as dangerous as SOPA to really unite everyone again.

  • everyone who is against SOPA is a fat faggot

  • @Widarr fight me

  • @Widarr 0/10

  • @Widarr 0/10, trying too hard, too obvious troll

  • @Widarr You're a fucking idiot. Just thought I'd point that out to you as it seems noone has gotten it through your thick skull as of yet. SOPA threatens to take away freedom, freedom to talk, write and show anything over the internet earth's biggest information resource. It takes away too much. Do you want to be ruled indefinitely by the government? To be told what to do and when to do it? Sooner or later you'll realise they don't give a fuck about you, but we, the 99% population of earth, do.

  • @Widarr

how about i slap your shit

  • Romney looks like he's about to pull his dick out and start wacking it or something.

  • @peenfluteking its what the upper class turns you into. i swear its the truth.

  • Newt will say any thing to try to become President he is a very to face preson and once in got in power he will do want he want to do.

  • Gingrich is posturing for votes. He'd sign SOPA into law the second it was voted on if he was President. His track record speaks to his dishonesty.

  • YES! Absolutely LOVE how Newt Gingrich answered this question, he took the words right out of my mouth when it comes to whats right...

I support Paul, I HATE Romney, but I kind of like/dislike Gingrich. He's not the greatest, but if there is one thing you need to know, hes definitely NOT an idiot. If he won the nomination, i'd vote for him.

  • @phorse hes still two faced and doesnt truly care what you want. have fun voting for that.

  • @NitsuaNaed So is Obama... Obama is even worse.

  • There is a lot of revenue the United States loses due to piracy which does not help our economy, It is like outsourcing jobs around the world. It is a ridiculous statement made by Newt Gingrich to say that it will hurt companies like Google etc.

  • I'm fairly certain Newt is only taking that position due to it's unpopularity at this moment. If hollywood sent a check his way, he'd no doubt support it. Romney is much the same way. If you're looking for some politicians to buy-off, those are your go-to guys.

  • sopa will not pass but they will do what they want, hell they shut down Megaupload.

  • @peenfluteking

only a sociopath could handle that job dude, look at the shit romney puts up with on a daily basis only a robot can handle that

  • what about ACTA

  • @IDMWEIGHTSIDM already signed yo

  • And what about Ron Paul?

  • 1. He's not totally dishonest about the supporters. My favorite senator (IL-Durbin) supports PIPA (the senate version of the bill) yet only does so because he believes it helps keep jobs. I'm sure with a little more convincing from his constituents he would no longer support the bill since it's a job killer and not a creator. Nevertheless, he receives about 133k from the ent. industry in campaign donations.

    2. It does not mean they're powerful yet it does mean the old is afraid of the new.

  • @EmperorKagato I agree with your 2nd statement.

  • Doesnt matter what Newt says, he is a fucking scum insider with 83 violations in the house.

    Fuck that traitor pig!

  • @loismlsx What?

  • @CheckRealityPlease

yes, marx was exactly that. i think if corporations were subject to the same laws that their workers were subject to it might(MIGHT) fix our economy, perhaps not totally fix but bandage it a little.

  • I see three cardboard cutouts at 0:37 to 0:40 ...

    Damn tailless reptoids.

  • @rapzeh4

YES. that is EXACTLY what i said. if you knew anything about marx's theories you'd know the communist manifesto wasn't his only published work. and that they are kind of a 'this is how it is in my time, and probably how it will be in yours' oh yes, communism is far worse. but average people have as much control over the market as they do the laws that govern them. regardless of what form of -ism their government is. i'd just prefer next time you make an educated response.

  • @TAXEXEMPTION My problem with Marx has always been he was to much an idealist, where there were others in Workers International that were more realist thinkers. Capitalism is better system for equality if the rules are proper, unfortunately, the high water mark of equality in wealth was set by the United states in the 60's and early 70's and have since been destroyed by the Greedy liars out there.
