withholding evidence is relevent at any stage of a crime you uneducated fenian fuck. Just because the person hasnt been caught yet doesnt make it ok. It's called AIDEN and abetting which in general terms is 'withholding evidence from authorities'

Check for the definition of "aiding and abetting".

Torbett would have went unpunished because the victims were unwilling to step forward. Due to the "double jeopardy" law, it would have been impossible for him to be tried for the same crime twice, even if the victims had decided to press for charges.

also, check for a case study example of "withholding of evidence". It is only criminalised when evidence is being sought after. Since there was no report of the crime by the victims there was, in turn, no evidence withheld.

Had jock stein accused torbett of child abuse and the case had went to court, it would have been thrown out due to victims and families unwillingness to step forward. Torbett would have gone unpunished. The 'double jeopardy' law prevents people from being tried for the same crime twice, therefore, when the victims did finally come forward, there's nothing anyone could have done about it. Torbett would never have went to jail.

read my comment again..... did i say big kock didnt know? the point i was making was that steins hands were tied by an outdated law. Had he went to the police without the backing of the victims or families, torbett would have went unpunished forever.

The law is the law, im afraid. Had stein reported it to the police at that time, torbett would have went unpunished. Its irrelavent how upset it makes you or anyone else, the fact remains, the victims were unwilling to step forward and until they did there isnt a soul who can do anything about it.
