This film is loosely based on the actual actress Zubeida Begum. The story was that she acted in films behind her father's back because she came from a typical conservative Muslim family. They arrange her marriage but she wasn't willing to get married. She also falls in love with a Hindu man who is a maharaja (royal) and is already married. They marry but she refuses to go along with all the Hindu practices that they make her do. Interesting film :)
