Personally I think the archon is the best carrier. It gets bonuses to energy transfer array range and has the highest base armor resistances of all carriers. If your fleet has just 2 archons in it they can give any ship in the fleet up to a 25,000 dps tank and can give eachother a 30,000 dps tank They just need 2 armor repair units 2 remote armor repair units the triage module and 2 energy transfer arrays. And it has enough powergrid to fit it all pretty well.
