But insurance company intervention is just fine with you? Since I can't expect to have every medical procedure on the planet automatically available to me, I'd prefer a government bureaucrat to an insurance bureaucrat deciding if I get medical treatment or not.
You can sue and insurance company for making the wrong decision, not so easy to sue the government. The courts can also be on your side if you go after a private insurance company. You think the court will go after the government?
Suing an insurance company is a nightmare and by the time you go through all of the arbitration and mediation requirements (standard in most insurance contracts) and all of the hoops involved in civil practice, you (or your client) will probably be long dead.
On the other hand, I routinely win cases against the US government in US court. It's not perfect and not always easy, but much better than dealing with a corporate insurance company defendant. No comparison.
Yeah, right. I doubt suing the government for someone's death or maiming is easier. But then again it may be because if the government loses they don't care how big the verdict is because the penalty will be paid for by the tax payers.
The government does not have a fiduciary duty to maximize profits above all else. For that reason, I would prefer the government to provide my health insurance, not a company with a profit motive to take as much in and provide as little as possible to customers. Nothing wrong with that system for things like cars and VCRs, but it's a hideous way to deliver health insurance.
The current government doesn't care what it's duty is. That was very very clear last night. Their duty is to serve the people. How was that with the senate passing a bill the public overwhelming does not want? And with the way this current government is spending money, clearly they don't have a "fiduciary duty" to be responsible to the tax payers either.

I get great service from the post office and have never had anything lost in the mail. I've never had, on the other hand, such bad service as I've had from insurance company's. If you read his book, you would see that he was talking about his time in Indonesia when he would go with his stepfather, not his father, to the mosque to be with his stepfather on the holy days. This is like going to church on Christmas and Easter with your parents to make them happy. He did this when he was 8 to 10 years old (and Maya would have been an infant, so it wasn't like she was praying). Obama has never been a practicing Muslim. This death panel talk comes from that obscure-sounding passage in the House bill about end-of-life care advisory. Of course, it makes SENSE when you really think about it! Seniors are OLD, their bodies aren't functioning as well, and they could DIE SOON. Advising them on how to manage their dying soon isn't cruel or even close to a "death panel." It's kinda like HOSPICE for dying patients, esp. elderly ones. No one's calling hospice a death panel.

Suing an insurance company is a nightmare and by the time you go through all of the arbitration and mediation requirements (standard in most insurance contracts) and all of the hoops involved in civil practice, you (or your client) will probably be long dead.
On the other hand, I routinely win cases against the US government in US court. It's not perfect and not always easy, but much better than dealing with a corporate insurance company defendant. No comparison.

The government does not have a fiduciary duty to maximize profits above all else. For that reason, I would prefer the government to provide my health insurance, not a company with a profit motive to take as much in and provide as little as possible to customers. Nothing wrong with that system for things like cars and VCRs, but it's a hideous way to deliver health insurance.

How was that with the senate passing a bill the public overwhelming does not want? And with the way this current government is spending money, clearly they don't have a "fiduciary duty" to be responsible to the tax payers either.

I've never paid so much to get such horrible return of service. I've never paid so many times for that service either since I pay taxes AND premiums. There was plenty of wording in the old house bill that government agencies, not doctors or medical professional, could make cost effective decisions if you were very old and not worth the cost. Fact is most of the wording changed right after Palin pointed it out. But my point is Obama and many others made much much bigger lies.

The article said that it was too confusing to implement consistently. Sounds to me like something that would have been inevitably scrapped. The republicans jumped on it though and twisted it.
Nowhere did it say what the right claimed it said, but it was so confusing that to say that it WAS THERE had almost a credible chance against interpreting it NOT to be there.
I guess I'm naive in thinking SHORTENING the length of our lives was not something this bill was intended to do.

I think that is a big problem with all this. Too much of it is confusing. And you know if the public has problems understanding is then politicians will jump through all the confusing loopholes. I think we should start all over and rally look at a step by step approach.

Too late now. It's going through and if what I know about it is true, I couldn't hate that more. There's no longer any kind of public option. Instead, if what I know is correct, they are funneling 30 million people into a PRIVATE industry with prices set by those who's only goal is profit. They are making it illegal for someone to NOT have health insurance. In other words, you are forced to buy a product that you may or may not ever use or you go to jail. Wanna talk about stripped liberty?

Fact is wording was not added to the any bill preventing illegals from getting coverage until the Baucus Bill was introduces, which was AFTER Obama said illegals would not be covered.
